He was famously moved by a concert in Andover given by the Trapp family singers in 1939, soon after they had escaped Austria. He quoted, 'Here, suddenly, I was hearing clarity, simplicity. It shaped my whole outlook.' Pinkham's career saw him teach at the Boston Conservatory and the New England Conservatory of Music, as well as being organist of King's Chapel in Boston for 42 years. His compositions varied from symphonies to art songs, although predominantly his music was religious in nature, frequently incorporating a choir and Organ. Christmas Cantata represents Pinkham's influence of 20th century trends, often embracing plainchant, joining Stravinsky and Hindemith's revival of early music. They loved music and therefore named most of their children after famous composers. They lived in the hamlet of Marsh and Handel was playing the flute at the age of seven in the Drum & Fife Band in Oxenhope (near Keighley). He left school at age 13 to work in a textile mill.At age 14, he commenced being organist of the Oxenhope Baptist parish in 1868. Around age 20 he became a professional musician, teaching flute, violin and trombone.  He gave organ recitals and also conducted many choirs and brass bands (e.g the Haworth Band for 50 years). Parker was choirmaster and organist of the cathedral in Nassau, Bahamas.

This Trio Sonata is an arrangement of the first of the seven opus 1 sonatas for violin, viola da gamba & continuo composed in 1694. When most composers at this time would compose a trio sonata with all the movements in the same key, Buxtehude composed the movements of this sonata alternately in F major and D minor. The movements are: Vivace - Lento, Allegro, Adagio, Andante, Grave and Presto. Written for players of equal ability and of intermediate standard and above, the sonata has been carefully edited, additions are shown in parentheses ( ) or dashed lines.Buxtehude was famous during his lifetime for his skill as an organist and composer. Both Handel and J.S. Bach travelled to hear him play (at different times). Bach stayed to study with him for three months. Handel departed after one night when he learned that Buxtehude (who wanted to retire) was looking for an organist to succeed  him, a condition of taking the post being the necessity to marry Buxtehude's eldest daughter who was some years older than Handel.
