The term demotic is used with referring to the rural musical tradition of Greece in order to differentiate it from urban traditions referred to as Laiko and/or Rebetiko song tradition. All three terms in fact refer to popular music either by anonymous or eponymous creators.Ā
All pieces are of an advanced intermediate level and each volume contains the same pieces twice, with and without tabs and various internal and external navigational links and can be viewed and/or printed as one or two books according to user's needs.

Composed by Emiliano Brunetti. Chamber,Romantic Period. Individual part. 4 pages. Emiliano Brunetti #955418. Published by Emiliano Brunetti (A0.1371167).

Anonymous Soldier seeks to portray the fight between what you need to do and what you want to do. It reflects that battle against the Impostor Syndrome, which tells you how far you are from where you really belong. It is my everyday fight for my dreams, despite how hard they are to achieve, and despite the conflicting context I might be living in (writing classical music from my home of Argentina).Ā This piece explores the use of tremolo effect, which is usually found in advanced pieces. As I am not able to play pieces like Recuerdos de la Alhambra (TĆ”rrega) or Una Limosna por el Amor de Dios (Barrios), I tried to write a piece with this technique I enjoy listening to a lot, in a way that I can perform it while improving my playing.

Composed by Anonymous. Arranged by Alastair Lodge. Chamber,Early Music,Renaissance. 10 pages. Wold Meridian #1033650. Published by Wold Meridian (A0.1454548).

Renaissance Dance music provides some of the most simple yet satisfying pieces to play in ensemble on a wide range of instruments.  They are suitable for recorders, modern strings, woodwinds or brass, or where available, reproductions of 16th century instruments, such as crumhorns, viols or shawms to name but a few.

Also appearing in the publication Chording to the Consort,  this individual piece is presented in full score and with separate parts for each of the lines.

Wold Meridian editions of these pieces have been created to make performing them as accessible as possible.  Chords have been provided so that the piece can be performed with just the melody line and a simple accompaniment.  Each piece can be heard in a video on YouTube with illustrations and historical background information.  Even more helpful for players who are less experienced in reading harmony lines, there is a YouTube video link featuring each part, where it is heard initially on its own with the chords, on repeats with the melody line added and finally together with all the parts in the whole ensemble.  If you have not had the pleasure of playing in consort with other people, you could not do better than start with these Wold Meridian editions.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.953728

Composed by Anonymous and Ralph E. Hudson. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Easter,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14273. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953728).

He Is So Good is a 3-4-5 octave, 45 measure medley of the Christian hymns God Is So Good and At the Cross (Alas, and Did My Savior Bleed) arranged for 3-4-5 octave handbell choirs. Because of the inclusion of At the Cross, this arrangement might be suitable for Easter/Lent. The overall theme is the love of God for us, whether as the Father or as Jesus. The strategy of this arrangement is to start out softly and *very* plainly and build---both in volume and in complexity. From the chorus of At the Cross to the end, a lot of doubling of the melody in the highest bells is used. There are two surprise modulations used in the chorus of At the Cross. In At the Cross there are chords used that are more interesting than those in the original hymn. After the triple-forte volume level at the end, there is a mezzo-piano tag, echoing the melody of the preceding musical phrase, with a chord progression that is substantially different from the original version of this hymn. This arrangement is probably a 3 plus (3+) level of difficulty, with the plus being due to some eighth-note runs in the bass line towards the end of At the Cross. The demonstration audio file provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound.
