Trumpet Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.969866 Composed by Amy Dunker. Concert,Contemporary. Individual part. 13 pages. Amy Dunker #6083273. Published by Amy Dunker (A0.969866). Three Images from the Hubble Telescope consists of three musical meditations on pictures taken through the telescope. The work can be performed with or without projected images. I. NGC 4907 The barred spiral galaxy known as NGC 4907 shows its starry face from 270 million light-years away to anyone who can see it from the Northern Hemisphere. II. Interstellar Comet Borisov On Aug. 30, 2019, when amateur astronomer Gennady Borisov gazed upward with his homemade telescope, he spotted an object moving in an unusual direction. Now called 2I/Borisov, this runaway point of light turned out to be the first confirmed comet to enter our solar system from some unknown place beyond our Sun’s influence. III.  Rose Galaxies The image shows a large spiral galaxy apparently attached to another one by a swirl of stars – a rose-like effect caused by the gravitational pull of the galaxy below it. The sprinkling of blue jewel-like points across the top of the larger galaxy is the combined light from clusters of intensely bright and hot young blue stars. These massive stars glow fiercely in ultraviolet light.Duration:  11:30

Clarinet Quintet,Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1431180 Composed by Healey Willan. Arranged by Derrick Thomas Lewis. 20th Century,Classical. 9 pages. Derrick Thom. Lewis #1011648. Published by Derrick Thom. Lewis (A0.1431180). Healy WILLAN Chaconne 1956 (from Rondino,Elegy & Chaconne, for Organ)Composer of over 800 works and teacher for over 50 years, Mr.Willan was known for long as the Dean of Canadian Composers and was a fixture of the Toronto music scene for a very long while. Apparently he wrote Operas and Symphonies as well, but these have not been easily available to experience. Perhaps this is just Canadian natural reticence or 'reserve'. However, it's a characteristic that is not conducive to cultivating popularity. Nevertheless, Willan's music is simply lovely, and it's nice to know that, if you 'cotton on' to it, you will probably never exhaust his supply, at least to play.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1256304 By Michael Blostein. By Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Michael Blostein. Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Instructional,Romantic Period. Score and Parts. 28 pages. Michael D. Blostein #849775. Published by Michael D. Blostein (A0.1256304). Beethoven’s Six Ländler for Two Violins and Bass, WoO 15 – the basis for this work - constitute his second and final set of these forms of German dance, written as a commission for the annual dances at the Vienna Redoutensaal. Both sets were apparently intended for actual events of social dancing. This set likely date from early 1802, when Beethoven was working intensely on his second symphony. This arrangement for string orchestra requires shifting into 2nd position for the first violins in one section, and the viola (as well as 3rd violin if used) and 2nd violins are required to go into half position for two sections. Cellos need to extend. The requirements for the bass are minimal, but the bass players can play the cello part (with appropriate fingering and position alterations) and the piece works. The second violins do not need to shift, but some of the string crossing (shared with the first violins) can be a bit tricky. This piece works best at a faster tempo (in 1), but can work at a slower tempo (a fast 3).

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.933520 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven, Cees Nieuwenhuizen. Classical. Score. 48 pages. Upstream Music #482215. Published by Upstream Music (A0.933520). There are many more unfinished than completed compositions of Beethoven that have been preserved. ln these fragments one sees ideas for individual works. A large number of sketchbooks and sketches from the composer were preserved and are housed in libraries and private collections all over the globe. Some sketches are no more than brief experiments or short elaborated ideas, but there are also fragments preserved that nearly give us a complete picture of a composition. In the so-called Kafka sketchbook, which was published in 1970 in London, approximately 500 fragments of manuscripts were bundled that stem from 1786 - 1799. The Fantasia Sonata in D (deest 45) for piano forte in three parts, was hidden in the archives since 1792. This sonata of the young Beethoven, with striking similarities to the Moonlight sonata and the Pastorale has never been performed on stage. Young pianotalent Martin Oei played it for the first time in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, October 21st, 2012. The large, over 1100 bars comprising torso now known as Fantasia Sonata in D from 1792, cannot be called a sketch anymore, although Beethoven has not completed the work and used many ideas in other, later works. The reconstruction of the sketches was done by the Dutch Beethoven musicologist and composer Cees Nieuwenhuizen. The piece was probably written in Bonn, three years before he started to write his first official piano sonata of a series of 32 sonatas. In November 1792 Beethoven went from Bonn to Vienna to study with the famous composer Joseph Haydn (1732–1809). Beethoven rapidly proceeded to make his mark as a brilliant keyboard performer and as a gifted young composer with a number of works to his credit. In 1795 his first mature published works appeared, and his career was officially launched. Striking harmonies The re-using of previously drafted material is quite common in Beethoven's works. Apparently the material wasn't yet ripe enough at the time of its origination, or perhaps Beethoven changed his mind with regards to the new composition. This could very well be so regarding the torso from Kafka’s sketchbook that we now call the Piano Fantasia sonata in D. This piece contains 1100 bars of music, not taking into account the alternative bars. The piece is composed by Beethoven in 1792 - 1793 and was set up as a tripartite sonata in D with remarkable abnormalities in terms of form and content. There are striking harmonies that cannot be found in other works composed in that same period. It’s possible that the composer didn’t have the courage to publish it or that indeed the time was not yet ripe for it. Finally the composer let the draft go and never came back to it. Or did he? Thematic similarities We find phrases in several later works that share similarities with ideas and themes from Fantasia sonata in D. The first part of Fantasia sonata has the same theme as the trio of the third movement of Symphony no. 7 (in A Major Opus 92). Even the key and also the rhythm in 3/4 time are the same. This cannot be a coincidence. Similar mood and thematic parallels can be found in the Pastorale, the Sonata for piano no. 15 (Opus 28): it is striking that this piece is also composed in D and in 3/4 time. We find similar dramatic expression in the Sonata for piano no. I 7 in d minor Opus 31 no. 2. The second movement of the Fantasia sonata nearly has the same theme as the second movement of the Sonata for piano no. 23 in minor (the Appassionato Opus 57). Martin Oei, Daiel Wayenberg, Cees Nieuwenhuizen at The World Premiere in The Concertgebouw Beethoven begins the third movement of the Fantasia sonata with the main theme of the first movement, but now in e minor. lts appearance in minor is an entirely new idea. Nevertheless Beethoven doesn't elaborate the idea any further because it disappears after 29 bars. Now a new agitated theme starts in d minor, which was announced in the first movement, but now reappears in its complete.

Brass Quintet Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1317480 Composed by John Philip Sousa. Arranged by Matthew Nunes. Chamber,Classical,Historic,March,Patriotic. 28 pages. Matthew Nunes Music #906146. Published by Matthew Nunes Music (A0.1317480). Dedicated to Secretary of State John Milton Hay, The Diplomat was apparently composed over one of the best tenderloin steaks Sousa ever had. It is one of a few Sousa marches where, with the right emphasis, a different character jumps off the page. It is also highly nuanced, for example the added hits in the repeat of the Final Strain. Special interest may be directed to the tuba part, which is incredibly active throughout. This Brass Quintet arrangement was made using “The President’s Own†United States Marine Band’s The Complete Marches of John Philip Sousa score as found at https://www.marineband.marines.mil/Audio-Resources/The-Complete-Marches-of-John-Philip-Sousa/. The Diplomat was composed in 1904, and the referenced edition was made Public Domain in 2018. The piece is catalogued as Volume 4, No. 63.

Large orchestra - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q3053 Composed by Hans Werner Henze. This edition: study score. Music Of Our Time. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 25 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q3053. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q3053). ‘My Sinfonia No. 8 is not at all tragic or moody like the Seventh. It is a summer piece and is based on three moments from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream‘, writes Hans Werner Henze. This, however, is all we get to know from the composer regarding the work’s reference to Shakespeare’s comedy. On closer examination of the three-movement symphony it turns out that the first movement is a fantasia on Oberon’s order to Puck to search for the magic flower. In the second movement, Henze apparently set the love scenes between Titania and Bottom to music. Ultimately, the final movement shines gracefully and peacefully as if everything that had happened before had only been a dream. - Hans Werner Henze2 (1. auch Picc., 2. auch Picc. u. Cello and piano - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q52946 For piano and violoncello. Composed by Richard Strauss. This edition: score and part. Complete edition - piano - score - violoncello. Downloadable, Score and part. Duration 26 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q52946. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q52946). Key: F major. The Cello Sonata Op. 6 was composed over an apparently frequently interrupted period of three years, an extraordinarily long time for Strauss’s early creative phase. The compositional process spawned two independent versions of the work, the first of which is published for the first time on the basis of the text in the Critical Edition of the Works of Richard Strauss in the current edition as a practical musical text. The genesis of the two versions and the reasons for revision can only be reconstructed in part: only one of the surviving autographs bears a date and the second version only survives in printed form. What is more, Strauss did not communicate in greater detail on this composition in correspondence with his family and friends. There are enormous differences between the two versions of the Sonata: Strauss deleted the entire second and third movements Larghetto and Allegro vivace, replacing them with a newly composed Andante and Finale. In the first movement, Allegro con brio, Strauss retained the thematic-motivic material and compositionally complex passages such as the three-voice fugue in the development section (from bar 241 in the first version and bar 275 in the second version) almost intact in the new version of the sonata, but also undertook extensive alterations, particularly in the structure of the piano part, the motivic-thematic development of the movement and its harmony which became far more ambitious.12 Particular attention should be drawn to the repetitive accompaniment of the con espressione theme beginning in bar 32 and the significantly shorter development in the first version. The current printed edition of the first version of Richard Strauss’s Cello Sonata now makes it possible to follow Strauss’s compositional development during this period. The significance of the differences between the versions also mean that two sonata compositions for violoncello and piano by Richard Strauss with fundamental disparities in their underlying character are now available for performance. (from the foreword by the editors).
