Elgar  wrote fourteen variations on a theme, each one depicting close friends and family. Nimrodrepresents his publisher and friend Augustus Jaeger. The biblical character of Nimrod is described as a mighty hunter, and jaeger means hunter in German.The single pdf file contains both the piano score and a separate solo instrumental part.Musicians at an  intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. Both parts require dramatic dynamic contrasts and lyrical legato playing. Vikentios Gionanidis has beautifully arranged this famous work for traditional brass quintet of 2 Trumpets in B-flat, Horn, Trombone and Tuba. The work of 4 minutes in length is appropriate for moderately advanced performers and makes a great contrasting work on a program or recital.
