Although the song is a prayer, this version was not written with religious practices or the Catholic church in mind. It was originally called Ellen's Song, based on the heroine of Scott’s long poem set in the Scottish Highlands. It is considered a masterpiece.  This arrangement is for a two-part female choir.  It is a lovely piece.
