Choral Choir (SSA) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.915697 Composed by Early American Tune. Arranged by Richard Joseph Barber. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 7 pages. Barber Music Company #3879693. Published by Barber Music Company (A0.915697). This piece lasts two minutes and nineteen seconds. John Newton, 1725 - 1807, author of Amazing Grace, also wrote, How Tedious and Tasteless the Hours. The hymn tune is GREEN FIELDS, and depending on the hymnal or other source in which you find it, opinions vary about who originally composed it. Most, I believe, will call it an Early American Melody, but some attribute it to J. S. Bach, and say that it is found in his Peasant Cantata. However, I listened to the entire Peasant Cantata recently to see if that true, and, although I did hear fragments in one aria that sounded reminiscent of GREEN FIELDS, it seems a bit of a stretch to me to say that the hymn tune has its original version in Bach's cantata. If someone can point me to the portion of the cantata where Bach gives us a clearly identifiable early version, I would be very appreciative. Bach is essentially my favorite composer, and I wouldn't mind attributing the origin of this and many other great melodies to him. -Richard Barber

Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.1068461 Composed by Alexander Klein. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. Full Performance. Duration 255. Alexander Klein #2079967. Published by Alexander Klein (A0.1068461). Alía is a composition that was inspired by the type of modal melodies composers like Ralph Vaughan Williams collected from rural areas in England and Scotland. The simplicity of peasant life, coupled with its profound knowledge of Mother Nature, is reflected in the very cantabile melody that dominates this work. To honor the equally rich peasant cultures that still live in rural areas in my native Colombia, I have included rhythmic patterns extracted from the Bambuco, a syncopated, ternary musical expression that has resounded for hundreds of years amidst the beautiful mountains of central Colombia. - Alexander Klein.

String Quintet Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1486478 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Zoran Radanovic. Folk,Multicultural,Standards,Traditional,Wedding,World. 74 pages. Zoran Radanovic #1063541. Published by Zoran Radanovic (A0.1486478). This arrangement is famous romanian song for professional string quintet with set of parts.Ovaj aranžman je poznata rumunska pesma za profesionalni guda?ki kvintet sa partiturama. Ciocârlia (meaning the skylark) is a Romanian tune, allegedly composed by the Romani-Romanian pan flute player Anghelu? Dinicu[1][2] in the virtuosic style of the urban l?utareasc? music from late 19th century. Anghelu? Dinicu first presented the tune in 1889 at the inauguration of the Eiffel Tower. However, the most famous version would become that of his grandson Grigora? Dinicu, that adapted the tune for violin. George Enescu also was inspired by Ciocârlia for his composition the Romanian Rhapsody No. 1 for orchestra. Ciocârlia has been covered numerous times, but because it is a piece of l?ut?reasc? music and not a piece of Romanian peasant music it cannot be considered representative for the Romanian peasant spirit.[3] In the case of the Ciocârlia, like with other famous tunes of l?ut?reasc? music, there were attempts to hide the name of the composer in order to make it seem anonymous/traditional.[4] It is known as Ševa (????) and ?u?uliga (????????) in Serbian, Bulgarian and Macedonian. It has also become highly popular in the Jewish Klezmer repertoire.[5] In Georgia, the tune became widely adopted into traditional folk music repertoire and is known as Torola (??????, the lark)[6] During the communist-era, the Romanian intelligence service operated a numbers station believed to be used by spies in foreign countries. The station known as V01 became well known for its use of Ciocârlia as its opening interval, which would be followed by a series of number-coded messages in Romanian and concluded with the words Terminat. The station fell off the air soon after the 1989 coup and overthrow of Ceausescu.[7] The song was featured as part of the soundtrack for the 2009 Ubisoft game Rabbids Go Home, performed by Moldovan gypsy brass band Fanfare Vagabontu.

Small Ensemble Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.890708 Composed by John Pitts. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 24 pages. Intensely Pleasant Music #3424703. Published by Intensely Pleasant Music (A0.890708). Experiencing High Volumes (2014) triet 6 minutes Composed for the Severnside Composers Alliance’s second Three is the Magic Number concerts of contemporary piano triets at the Lantern, Colston Hall, Bristol in 2014, performed by Milena Zhivotovskaya, Rob Broomfield and John Pitts. This is pleasant, relaxing armchair music, which doesn’t actually get particularly loud. I have Francisco Tárrega (1852-1909) to thank for a motif that recurs through the piece – a short section of his Gran Vals, which you may recognise. I have omitted the last note of the original melody, which is actually an octave down from a more familiar version you may know. Before this motif made its way into this piece I had considered a title along the lines of Cycle of Thirds for harmonic reasons which may be obvious. But I put that idea permanently on hold after trying to get through to a utilities company. In retrospect, I should have ensured that the end looped neatly back to the beginning (which sadly it doesn’t quite), so that I could attempt to sell a recording of this piece to businesses for their call waiting music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4MDdZpWQNA
