Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus divisi - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1514738 By BAHAGA Prosper. By BAHAGA Prosper. Arranged by PACIS EUSEBE NDOLI NDAHIRO. A Cappella,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,Traditional,World. 6 pages. PACIS EUSEBE NDOLI NDAHIRO #1089222. Published by PACIS EUSEBE NDOLI NDAHIRO (A0.1514738). If you want to enjoy a Stellenbosh-choir level African A Capella arrangement you've never heard of, this is the real deal for you!The story is about a man remembering a girl he was enamored with from way then in the village when they used to be young. The man describes how well-mannered and well educated she was, regrets never having had her, whishes he could stay on his natal hill and wait for her, nicknames her a Cow's tear-drop(in Burundian and Rwandan traditions, cows are the most sacred and respected of demesticated animals) and describes her gaze as the Sunset(Yasa n'irirenga). It's a beautiful story, and I was pleased to set it to music that values its depth and sense of longing, sometimes using minor versions of the melody (traditionally pentatonic) to accentuate the nostalgia and the longing he has for his Cow's tear-drop.For you all that want to pronounce the words in Kirundi well, I have added a YouTube video of a famous Burundian Singer interpreting this song. Hope it helps with the combined vowels (nk, kw, ry etc).Enjoy this one. Definitely one of my all-time favorite arrangements.

Piano - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7264 (Music for a Summer Evening). Composed by Peteris Vasks. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 6 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q7264. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7264). PÄ“teris Vasks occupies a special position in the circle of Baltic composers. He is not only the most significant and popular composer ever to come out of Latvia; he always speaks to his listeners with a fervent intensity that seems to point to something higher. This higher aspect is without a doubt something that stands above the world of humanity but is also present within each person: divine nature. “I am deeply rooted in nature, in the nature of the North. It influences all of my music. The nature we know is also quite various; we have four very distinct seasons. The winter is very long, the summer very short and therefore all the more beautiful and longed for. The seasons in between are quite dramatic.†In 2009, as a kind of “encoreâ€, Vasks wrote Vasaras vakara mÅ«zika –Music for a Summer Evening based on old sketches and therefore rather strongly anchored in tradition. Vasks says: “It describesthe quiet end of a summer day. The sun sets. Slowness. Memories of previous experiences rise. With the memories’ appearance comes an increase in intensity. Towards the end, a kind of folksong is heard: ‘We have survived the time of tyranny and have kept our identity’. The ending is quiet, everything is asleep.“ (Christoph SchlürenTranslation: John Patrick Thomas and W. Richard Rieves).

Published by Marilena Zlatanou (A0.887055). GREEK FOLK SONG: THALASAKI MOU (Sea, my dearest) Traditional song from the Aegean Islands arranged for SATB choirIn a country surrounded by an often very stormy sea, and including hundreds of islands, this song is a prayer addressed to it, to spare the lives of loved ones. duration: just under 3' Phonetic transcription in the Latin alphabet is notated right below the original Greek text, English translation, and a key to Greek Pronunciation are provided on the title page. The mp3 file provided is exported from the sibelius file. For more information on the arranger, (member of TONO, the Norwegian copyright org.), please visit website www.zlatanou.net The arrangement attempts to adher to the genuine Greek folk music style as well as allowing some sea waves through it.A piano part is not included but a piano may accompany the choir, dubling the parts, if this is desirable by the conductor. As a Greek living in Norway for most of my adult life, and in my many years’ work as a conductor of a Norwegian choir specializing in Greek music (!), I have experienced the need to enrich the choir’s repertoire with both folk song- as well as other -arrangements of Greek music: This gave me the opportunity to share with our audiences some of the centuries-long musical heritage, as well as helping me make known to them some of the History behind the music of a country of such international historical influence in the past, and such a tourist magnet in our times.
