Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1019351 Composed by Kevin Longley. Contemporary. Score. 9 pages. Kevin Longley #3378573. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1019351). Cafe Terrace I for Piano, composed in August of 2006 was the first in a set of 3 pieces inspired by Vincent van Gogh's Café Terrace at Night. The music's underlying idea attempts to depict the laughing, the crying, the arguments and the quiet conversations van Gogh may have observed while conceiving his masterpiece. It begins in a flutter of excitement demonstrating the commotion of the Cafe at its busiest hour. As the piece progresses the musics character slowly changes. Moving towards a more agitated state it finally descends to the lower register of the piano, depicting a verbal conflict. This conflict eventually resolves and returns to the opening music which then leads to the exuberant ending.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.978107 Composed by Francisca Gonzaga (Chiquinha Gonzaga 1847-1935). Arranged by Idalmo Santos. 20th Century,Latin,World. Score and parts. 23 pages. Idalmo Santos #6679863. Published by Idalmo Santos (A0.978107). The famous Corta-jaca, the name with which the tango Gaúcho became popular, is one of Chiquinha Gonzaga's most recorded and best-known songs, along with Ó abre alas, Lua branca, and Atraente. It was born on the stages of musical theaters, where it was danced in the final scene of the burlesque operetta of national costumes Zizinha Maxixe, imitated from French by an anonymous author, performed at the Teatro Éden Lavradio, in August 1895. Actor Machado Careca (José Machado Pinheiro e Costa), the anonymous author of the play, ended up putting verses to the music of Corta-jaca, helping to popularize it, especially after his version was recorded on disc by the duo Os Geraldos. Throughout history, Corta-jaca frequented other stages and repertoires: café-cantante, chope-berrante, rodas de choro... But it was at the Palácio do Catete, in 1914, that it achieved its glory. Performed on the guitar by first lady Nair de Teffé, it caused political scandal and ended up nicknaming the administration of Hermes da Fonseca. The reaction can be measured by the impassioned speech that Senator Rui Barbosa made from the rostrum. When asked what was the corta-jaca he had heard so much about, he concluded: The lowest, the most vulgar, the rudest of all wild dances, the twin sister of batuque, cateretê and samba. But at presidential receptions the corta-jaca is performed with all the honors of Wagner's music, and one does not want the conscience of this country to revolt, our faces to blush and the youth to laugh! Never before in the history of Brazil had eminently popular music been performed at the seat of government, in front of the diplomatic corps and the country's elite. Corta-jaca has become a classic of the great repertoire of Brazilian instrumental music, meriting recordings by, among others, Abel Ferreira, Altamiro Carrilho, Antonio Adolfo, Artur Moreira Lima, Clara Sverner, Conjunto Regional do Donga, Eudóxia de Barros, Guio de Morais, Itamar Assieré, Leandro Braga, Marcus Viana, Maria Teresa Madeira, Marcelo Verzoni, Paulo Moura, Radamés Gnatalli, Rosária Gatti, Talitha Peres, Turíbio Santos, countless bands, and some sung versions. It was written by the maestro also for singing and piano and small orchestra: oboe, viola, timpani, horns (bass), bassoon.

Mixed Percussion B-Flat Tuba,B-Flat trombone,Baritone Horn TC/Euphonium,Bass Trombone,E-Flat Cornet,E-Flat Tenor Horn,E-Flat Tuba TC,Flugelhorn,Percussion 1,Percussion 2,Tenor Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1313069 By Jessica Simpson. By Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn. Arranged by Kevin P Holdgate. 20th Century,Christmas,Jazz. Brass Band. 27 pages. Kevin P Holdgate #901904. Published by Kevin P Holdgate (A0.1313069). Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!, also known as simply Let It Snow, is a song written by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne in July 1945 in Hollywood, California, during a heat wave as Cahn and Styne imagined cooler conditions. The song was first recorded by Vaughn Monroe, and was released just after Thanksgiving, and became a hit by Christmas.Despite the lyrics making no mention of any holiday, the song has come to be regarded as a Christmas song worldwide due to its winter theme, being played on radio stations during the Christmas and holiday season, and having often been covered by various artists on Christmas-themed albums. In the Southern Hemisphere, it can be played during the winter months of June, July, and August; and in New Zealand, some play it at Matariki. This simple arrangement by Kevin P Holdgate for Brass band has a big band feel with many close  harmonies. Simple realised solo s for Flgel and cornet make up the interlude between the verses. (These sections could be repeated with aadditional solos added to the same backing if desired.).

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802568 Composed by Adolphe-Charles Adam. Arranged by GE Holmes and Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 12 pages. Peet du Toit #5794985. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802568). O Holy Night (also known as Cantique de Noël) is a well-known Christmas carol composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to the French poem Minuit, chrétiens (Midnight, Christians) by poet Placide Cappeau (1808–1877). The carol reflects on the birth of Jesus as humanity's redemption.Adam was a prolific French composer of operas and ballets, music critic and noted teacher, who taught Delibes and other influential composers. Though being arranged for many musical groupings and ensembles, this arrangement by GE Holmes caught my ear and I just had to transcribe it for a brass quintet. It is a novel approach and works well!

Elijah Jovan McClain (February 25, 1996 – August 30, 2019) was a 23-year-oldAfrican-American massage therapist from Aurora, Colorado who was murdered after being placed in a chokehold by police and being sedated by paramedics. On August 24, 2019, an Aurora citizen reported to police that McClain was wearing a ski mask and looked sketchy, although the caller also indicated that he did not believe anyone was in anger, and that he believed McClain was unarmed.  The three police officers who were involved in the incident, Nathan Woodyard, Jason Rosenblatt and Randy Roedema, said that their body cameras were knocked off during a struggle with McClain. McClain was forcibly held to the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back, after which an officer applied a chokehold and paramedics administered ketamine to McClain to sedate him.  While being transported to the hospital McClain went into cardiac arrest. Three days after arriving at the hospital he was declared brain dead, and he was removed from life support on August30. McClain's autopsy was inconclusive. Piano,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533318 Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century,Concert,Standards. 71 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2343095. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533318). Première Sonate pour piano et violonI. ModéréII. Assez lentIII. AniméIV. Bien allant, mais d'expression tranquilleJacques Leguerney began the composition of his First Sonata for Piano and Violin in 1926, shortly after beginning composition studies with Nadia Boulanger. She was reportedly quite enthusiastic about the natural talent of her new student, and offered to give him private lessons to supplement her analysis classes. Leguerney was already reticent about studying composition. In an interview in 1989, he remembered his feeling at that time, saying that I found that this was useless work. If one is gifted for music, one is capable of writing harmonies. instead, Leguerney showed his Sonata to the French composer Albert Roussel, who was renting an apartment on Avenue Wagram in a building next to that of the Leguerney family. Leguerneyremembered Roussel's apartment with its dark blue walls and gilded Indian statues! Roussel encouraged his efforts and said of the second theme of the first movement: I would have liked to have written that. (J'aurais été très content d'avoir écrit ça.)The first performance of the Sonata was given by the pianist Thérèse Cahen (1897-1944) and the violinist Hortense de Sampigny (? – 1970) in a private concert. The violinist was already a well-known concert artist. De Sampigny finished her studies at the Paris Conservatory in 1915, where she was in the class of Jules Boucherit. In 1918 she married the French author Auguste Bailly (1878-1967). From 1921, she was a member of the Trio Trillat, founded by the pianist Ennemond Trillat with the collaboration of cellist Jean Witkowski. The Trio was active in concerts and recordings in France and abroad for about thirty years. De Sampigny later taught at the Conservatory as assistant to René Benedetti. Thérèse Cahen had studied piano, harmony and counterpoint at the Schola Cantorum, where she obtained a Second Prize. She was a faithful friend and muse for Leguerney, and recruited many musicians for first performances of his vocal and chamber works. She was deported to Auschwitz on July 31, 1944, a few weeks before the Liberation of Paris. This edition of the Sonata was performed at a private concert in Vernon (France) in July 2011 by French violinist Marion Larigaudrie and pianist Mary Dibbern.  It is based upon the autograph manuscript OL 23, on deposit at the Music Department of the Bibliothèque national in Paris.
