Guitar,Instrumental Duet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.949010 By Ernesto Nazareth. By Ernesto Nazareth. Arranged by Bisdre Santos. 20th Century,Chamber,Multicultural,Standards,World. 13 pages. Soul - Musical Creations #6509757. Published by Soul - Musical Creations (A0.949010). One of Nazareth's most elaborate pieces, the modern brigh waltz Fantástica (Phantastica, in the original spelling) is part of Nazareth's group of concert pieces. These are songs with the greatest pianistic pretensions, which, in general, were not published during his lifetime and are rarely played. It was first published in 2008 by the portal Musica Brasilis and does not have a dedication. In his autograph manuscript there is no date; it is only known that in 1922 it already existed, as his name appears in one of the listings that Nazareth made at that time. Its subtitle may have been inspired by Chopin's first four bright waltzes. This influence is also felt in the elaborate piano technique used in several passages that demand great virtuosity. This waltz could have been part of the repertoire of pianists from the great European Romantic tradition, contemporaries of Nazareth, but who never heard of his work. Until 2012, it was recorded only twice.

String Trio Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1488292 Composed by William Shield. Arranged by Robert Hoskins. Classical. 35 pages. Artaria Editions #1065180. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1488292). Artaria Editions AE428Shield's Trios, written for a continental audience, are seminal works in the composer's output and mark a new level of compositional attainment in the English chamber music repertory. Technically, they contain a wide variety of ideas which are developed with great ingenuity through a wide range of keys, dynamic contrasts and timbral effects. Aesthetically, they blend 'popular' and 'learned' taste along with 'orchestral' splendour and 18th century notions of beauty. The Trios present a dazzling range of moods and style with each work demonstrating Shield's mastery of the idiom, both in his treatment of individual instruments and in the handling of textures. While there is no shortage of melody and accompaniment, in which the violin takes the lead, there are many memorable solos for the viola and the cello in its high register. The wide range of textures includes melodic decoration, dialogue, contrast of high and low register, legato and staccato, powerful unison and double octaves. Shield's ability to incorporate arioso-like melody, the prevailing 'symphonic' style and folk elements was largely achieved through the cross-generic requirements of English comic opera (a form to which Shield devoted himself during the whole of his creative career). In general, Shield's technique results in a firm control of the way music moves - with sometimes a surprising degree of stylistic restlessness and sometimes of unexpected plainness and simplicity. Shield's three previously unpublished string trios are preserved in autograph score in the British Library under the call number Ms.Add.51015; they provide the only source for this edition. This present edition presents as faithfully as possible the intentions of these sources. The style and notation of articulation and dynamic markings have been standardised throughout and, where missing, markings have been reconstructed from parallel passages. The notation of appoggiature has also been standardised to minimise confusion. Obvious wrong notes have been corrected without comment; editorial emendations with no authority from the source are placed within brackets. Robert Hoskins.

Schott Music - Digital #Q50069. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q50069). The Hungarian composer István Szelényi (1904-1972) studied with Zoltán Kodály and later himself became a lecturer at the Budapest Academy of Music. This Rhapsody, published here for the first time, was written in 1956 for the Henryk Wieniawski Composition Competition in Warsaw. On the autograph manuscript Szelényi noted in French a saying of his former composition teacher Zoltán Kodály: la musique est pour tous - Music is the property of the community – it belongs to everyone. A virtuoso concert piece in free rhapsodic form, suitable for competitions and concert performance.

Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: AX.00-PC-0015835_BTX E-flat Baritone Saxophone. Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Douglas E. Wagner. Classical. Part. 1 pages. Alfred Music - Digital Sheet Music #00-PC-0015835_BTX. Published by Alfred Music - Digital Sheet Music (AX.00-PC-0015835_BTX). UPC: 038081452777.Based on the original opening of the original introduction for Second Suite in F for Military Band, Holst replaced this section with the now-familiar morris dance tune, Glory Shears. The 38-measure passage (crossed out in the autograph score) draws upon the English folk song, Young Reilly, and presents an alluring work in itself for younger players. Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.790130 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Diamond S Music. Baroque,Concert,Instructional. Score. 3 pages. Diamond S Music #3664623. Published by Diamond S Music (A0.790130). 2-Part Invention No. 7 in E minor by J.S. BACH, BWV 778 for Solo Piano. This is the original version of the beloved 15 2-Part Inventions by Johann Sebastian Bach. The Inventions is a collection of short pieces Bach wrote for the musical education of his young pupils. These are among the finest examples of artistic gems ever written for this purpose, and probably because of this, they became very popular among Bach's pupils and others ever since they were written. The work comprises fifteen two-part, each named 'inventio', and fifteen three-part pieces, named 'sinfonia'. These two groups of pieces are arranged in an identical fashion-in ascending order by key-so that there is little doubt that Bach's intention was to bring them together as a single work. This is also confirmed by the way they are carefully written in his autograph fair copy penned in 1723. On every facing page of an open volume each piece demonstrates the contrapuntal technique, while, at the same time, explores a wide range of musical expressions using various styles and developing the motives in a logical fashion.  Other similar arrangements and selections from DIAMOND S MUSIC available at: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/diamond-s-music/6940

Chamber Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742401 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Arte Nova Music Lab. Baroque,Concert,Standards,World. Score and parts. 111 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #3005423. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742401). The four orchestral suites (called ouvertures by their author), BWV 1066–1069 are four suites by Johann Sebastian Bach. The name ouverture refers only in part to the opening movement in the style of the French overture, in which a majestic opening section in relatively slow dotted-note rhythm in duple meter is followed by a fast fugal section, then rounded off with a short recapitulation of the opening music. More broadly, the term was used in Baroque Germany for a suite of dance-pieces in French Baroque style preceded by such an ouverture. This genre was extremely popular in Germany during Bach's day, and he showed far less interest in it than was usual: Robin Stowell writes that Telemann's 135 surviving examples [represent] only a fraction of those he is known to have written;[1] Christoph Graupner left 85; and Johann Friedrich Fasch left almost 100. Bach did write several other ouverture (suites) for solo instruments, notably the Cello Suite no. 5, BWV 1011, which also exists in the autograph Lute Suite in G minor, BWV 995, the Keyboard Partita no. 4 in D, BWV 828, and the Overture in the French style, BWV 831 for keyboard. The two keyboard works are among the few Bach published, and he prepared the lute suite for a Monsieur Schouster, presumably for a fee, so all three may attest to the form's popularity.Scholars believe that Bach did not conceive of the four orchestral suites as a set (in the way he conceived of the Brandenburg Concertos), since the sources are various, as detailed below. The Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis catalogue includes a fifth suite, BWV 1070 in G minor. However, this work is highly unlikely to have been composed by J. S. Bach. Taken from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orchestral_suites_(Bach)

(1 · 1 · 1 · 1 · 1) - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q25913 One-act play by Peter Kien. Composed by Viktor Ullmann. This edition: study score. Choral music - Ernst Eulenburg - Opera. Eulenburg Miniature Scores. Downloadable, Study score. Op. 49b. Duration 60 minutes. Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital #Q25913. Published by Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital (S9.Q25913). German • English. In September 1942 Viktor Ullmann was interned in the concentration camp of Theresienstadt where he composed the opera Der Kaiser von Atlantis [The Emperor of Atlantis] on a libretto of Peter Kien, a fellow prisoner, in 1943. This opera was rehearsed by a chamber ensemble founded with the permission of the SS, but its first performance was prohibited after the final rehearsal. The autograph of the score only survived because shortly before his deportation to Auschwitz in 1944, Ullmann handed it, together with the libretto, to a friend who was able to save both manuscripts at the end of the war. The opera is a parable of a cruel emperor, whose senseless war is claiming many lives. Death puts an end to the chaos by refusing his duty - now, everyone lives for eternity. The king becomes disempowered, but the people long for a release from the pain of life. Only the voluntary death of the emperor can restore death's original purpose. The libretto is a vigorous take on the Third Reich and more particularly the concentration camp of Theresienstadt through the means of a mystery play. The music, with its numerous references to jazz and then current light music, sometimes by direct quotation, puts the composer in the role of political commentator, following the tradition of topical opera in the 1920's.
