Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.991999 Composed by Barry Michael Wehrli. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards. Score. 4 pages. Wehrli Publications #3397387. Published by Wehrli Publications (A0.991999). Recording duration: 3:17. Recording excerpt begins at measure 53. Prelude 13 is the thirteenth of 15 works available in the Book of Preludes: 1-15 for Piano, a collection of character pieces by keyboardist, author, educator, and Wehrli Publications founder, Barry Michael Wehrli. These evocative preludes resemble the short, expressive pieces of Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy, but possess elements of later styles such as 20th century, new-age, jazz and more. Aside from their value as outstanding new performance repertoire, advanced students and professionals are discovering the pedagogical value of the Preludes as they make their way into state teaching organizations across the country such as CAPMT (California) and UMTA (Utah). Teachers often search for new and appealing serious music for their piano students. Yet such music is hard to find. The complete Book of Preludes offers nearly an hour of diverse music, each prelude creating its own unique sense of musical journey. All preludes contain damper and sostenuto pedal indications, bar numbers, suggested fingering, and tempo and dynamic marks reflecting the composer’s recorded performance.  Reviews are available at the locations below. Flute,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.748672 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Mark Reeves. 20th Century,Concert,Film/TV,Wedding,World. Score and part. 5 pages. Mark Reeves #3022545. Published by Mark Reeves (A0.748672). Erik Satie's Gymnopedies were written for piano solo but lend themselves perfectly to being played by other musical instruments too. Indeed, Claude Debussy arranged the first and third Gymnopedies for orchestra. This arrangement for flute with piano accompaniment would fit nicely into a school concert programme and is also perfect for wedding ceremonies. Performance time is approximately two and a half minutes. Breath marks are not indicated, as the long phrases should be played in one breath if possible. A separate part is supplied for the soloist. The composer's original autographed manuscripts have been used as the initial source material, along with the very first printed editions published in 1888 and 1895. Obvious errors in these first editions have been corrected and Satie's unconventional preference for distributing the notes of chords across both staves has been ignored in favour of grouping the notes together to facilitate chord recognition and performance. Fragments Short variations for piano solo (2018) Thirteen short variations between an intriduction and a long epilogue follow a theme based on the lettername of distinguished Greek piano soloist and educator Kosmas Lapatas to whom are dedicated. Cello and piano - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q52946 For piano and violoncello. Composed by Richard Strauss. This edition: score and part. Complete edition - piano - score - violoncello. Downloadable, Score and part. Duration 26 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q52946. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q52946). Key: F major. The Cello Sonata Op. 6 was composed over an apparently frequently interrupted period of three years, an extraordinarily long time for Strauss’s early creative phase. The compositional process spawned two independent versions of the work, the first of which is published for the first time on the basis of the text in the Critical Edition of the Works of Richard Strauss in the current edition as a practical musical text. The genesis of the two versions and the reasons for revision can only be reconstructed in part: only one of the surviving autographs bears a date and the second version only survives in printed form. What is more, Strauss did not communicate in greater detail on this composition in correspondence with his family and friends. There are enormous differences between the two versions of the Sonata: Strauss deleted the entire second and third movements Larghetto and Allegro vivace, replacing them with a newly composed Andante and Finale. In the first movement, Allegro con brio, Strauss retained the thematic-motivic material and compositionally complex passages such as the three-voice fugue in the development section (from bar 241 in the first version and bar 275 in the second version) almost intact in the new version of the sonata, but also undertook extensive alterations, particularly in the structure of the piano part, the motivic-thematic development of the movement and its harmony which became far more ambitious.12 Particular attention should be drawn to the repetitive accompaniment of the con espressione theme beginning in bar 32 and the significantly shorter development in the first version. The current printed edition of the first version of Richard Strauss’s Cello Sonata now makes it possible to follow Strauss’s compositional development during this period. The significance of the differences between the versions also mean that two sonata compositions for violoncello and piano by Richard Strauss with fundamental disparities in their underlying character are now available for performance. (from the foreword by the editors).

String Trio Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1488232 Composed by William Shield. Arranged by Robert Hoskins. Classical. 36 pages. Artaria Editions #1065119. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1488232). Shield's Trios, written for a continental audience, are seminal works in the composer's output and mark a new level of compositional attainment in the English chamber music repertory. Technically, they contain a wide variety of ideas which are developed with great ingenuity through a wide range of keys, dynamic contrasts and timbral effects. Aesthetically, they blend 'popular' and 'learned' taste along with 'orchestral' splendour and 18th century notions of beauty. The Trios present a dazzling range of moods and style with each work demonstrating Shield's mastery of the idiom, both in his treatment of individual instruments and in the handling of textures. While there is no shortage of melody and accompaniment, in which the violin takes the lead, there are many memorable solos for the viola and the cello in its high register. The wide range of textures includes melodic decoration, dialogue, contrast of high and low register, legato and staccato, powerful unison and double octaves. Shield's ability to incorporate arioso-like melody, the prevailing 'symphonic' style and folk elements was largely achieved through the cross-generic requirements of English comic opera (a form to which Shield devoted himself during the whole of his creative career). In general, Shield's technique results in a firm control of the way music moves - with sometimes a surprising degree of stylistic restlessness and sometimes of unexpected plainness and simplicity. The trios Shield selected for publication were issued by Longman and Broderip, London, in January 1796 under the inspection of the composer. No autograph of these works survives and Longman and Broderip's printing, a copy of which is preserved in the Bodleian Library, Oxford, under the call number Mus.Instr.I 214(15), is the only source of this edition. String Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.890766 Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by Sneakwood Editions. Baroque,Classical. Score and parts. 34 pages. Sneakwood Editions #4781033. Published by Sneakwood Editions (A0.890766). Vivaldi’s violin concerto in D major, RV 208, survives in three manuscripts:Vivaldi’s autograph score, conserved in Turin. [This edition is based on this source]A copy of the parts, conserved in the Landesbibliothek Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Günther Uecker [de] in Schwerin.Another copy of the parts conserved in Cividale del Friuli. The Grosso Mogul title appears on the Schwerin manuscript, which was written before 1717. According to Michael Talbot, the name of the concerto can possibly be linked to Domenico Lalli’s Il gran Mogol opera libretto, a setting of which had been presented in Naples in 1713. Later settings of this libretto include Giovanni Porta’s, staged in Venice in 1717, and Vivaldi’s RV 697 (1730).The Schwerin and Cividale del Friuli copies of the concerto contain two variants of extended cadenzas for unaccompanied violin, in the first and last movements of the concerto. The autograph version indicates where such cadenzas can be inserted in these movements, but does not contain the cadenzas. A manuscript with the written-out cadenzas must have been circulating before c. 1713–1714 when Bach transcribed such version for solo organ (BWV 594).An earlier version of the concerto, RV 208a, was probably composed by c. 1712–1713. This version has a different middle movement than the RV 208 version.Vivaldi seems to have had no supervision over the Op. 7 collection, published around 1720 in Amsterdam by the Roger firm, in which the older RV 208a version of the concerto was retained. This version of the concerto does not contain the extended cadenzas, nor an indication where such cadenzas could be inserted. Violin, viola, cello and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7090 Edited and supplemented by Joachim Draheim. Composed by Robert Schumann. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 32' 25. Schott Music - Digital #Q7090. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7090). Key: C minor.Schumann's early piano quartet composed in 1829 has not yet found its way into the concert repertoire, although it would be well-earned. This is due to the fact that the work has only been available in a version full of mistakes up to now. Our new edition by the renowned Schumann researcher Joachim Draheim is based not only on the autograph but also on Schumann's sketches, thus providing a convincing musical text for the first time. Missing pages of the autograph (end of the first movement, left-hand piano part in the minuet, etc.) have been completed for the first time with the help of parallel passages in a stylistically sensitive and accurate manner. A valuable addition to the repertoire on the occasion of the Schumann Year 2010.

Eulenburg Miniature Scores. Downloadable, Study score. Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital #Q17848. Published by Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital (S9.Q17848). German.Parsifal, the last musico-dramatic work of Wagner, was premiered in Bayreuth on 26 July 1882 and, at first, were reserved for this performance venue according to the composer's will. Apart from only a few exceptions, it was not until 30 years later (i.e. after the expiration of the term of protection) that other opera-houses too were allowed to perform the 'sacred festival drama'. The new edition of the Eulenburg Study Score follows the Wagner Complete Edition which is based on the autograph score. All other editions published up to now only used as a source the first edition of 1883, unauthorized by Wagner, which differs from the autograph in important details. The original musical text is now available in a handy format - and ideally suited for studying. With a preface in various languages and Critical Report!

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1374665 Composed by Pietro Mascagni. Arranged by Michele Galvagno. 19th Century,20th Century,Opera,Religious,Romantic Period. Score. 10 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #959203. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.1374665). Pietro Mascagni’s (1863—1945) Intermezzo Sinfonico from his opera Cavalleria Rusticana needs no presentation. The idea of this edition comes from an update to an arrangement created for a friend’s wedding in 2010. While arranging, I stumbled upon the composer’s autograph of this Intermezzo, for piano solo, and decided to add a modern engraving of it to the mix. Finally, an orchestral score and a full set of parts have been included to close the circle. There are, therefore, three versions of this piece: ASE 0055: for piano solo, based on the composer’s autograph from 1888. ASE 0057: arrangement for cello ensemble (min. 8 cellos), based on the piano part and not on the orchestral version, which differs greatly in dynamics and agogic marking ASE 0058: original orchestration, score and parts This edition’s piano solo and original orchestration versions inaugurate a new series dedicated to Italian composers and/or to composers who thought about Italy while writing their music. It is called: Viva l’Italia!
