Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.733026 Composed by Gustave Louis Ganne. Arranged by Marc Oliver. 20th Century. Score and parts. 75 pages. Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings #2347279. Published by Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings (A0.733026). Gustave Louis Ganne was one of the leading composers of light music in France during his lifetime. As a young man he enrolled at the Paris Conservatory and while there Ganne studied composition with Jules Massenet and organ with Cesar Franck. Soon after leaving the conservatory Ganne made a name for himself with his compositions: marches waltzes mazurkas and many other types of music. He is best remembered for his theatrical works first his ballets and later the operettas. Ganne was also a highly competent conductor in the theaters of Paris and later in Monte Carlo. In Monte Carlo he established a series of extremely popular orchestral presentations known as Les Concerts de Louis Ganne. In 1901 he was elected president of the Societ des Auteurs Compositeurs et Editeurs de Musique. The French government later presented him with the Legion of Honor with extra orders. Ganne was loved and admired by those who knew him because of his character and prodigious talent. He died in Paris on July 13 (or 14) 1923. Marche Lorraine is one of Gustav Louis Gannes most well loved marches. It radiates a luminous sophisticated elegance. This march has played an important historic role in France and the Alsace Lorraine area.

Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: A0.733048 Composed by Edwin Franko Goldman. Arranged by Marc Oliver. Contemporary. Score and parts. 76 pages. Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings #2347531. Published by Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings (A0.733048). Throughout the late 19th Century and well into the 20th Century, there have been many patriotic marches written for band (and later transcribed for orchestra) by the composers of the day. The most famous, of course, is John Philip Sousa's The Stars and Stripes Forever, written in 1897, and is now the National March of the United States of America. Other patriotic marches include National Emblem, Americans We and Liberty Bell. Still another patriotic march is The Chimes of Liberty, written by Edwin Franko Goldman in 1922. It is possible that Goldman wrote this march to take advantage of the lyrics of My Country tis of Thee; where we let freedom ring. And what rings better than bells and chimes? The chimes are definitely featured in the second half of the march. The march also includes a very interesting piccolo obbligato.

Small Ensemble High Voice,Low Voice,Medium Voice,Multi-Percussion,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.733079 Composed by James Wagner. 20th Century,Opera. Score and parts. 104 pages. Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings #3017785. Published by Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings (A0.733079). For more than a year after abdicating the throne of Russia, Nicholas and his family have been under house arrest. The opera opens with the former Czar lamenting his fall from power and precarious circumstances. His wife, Anexandra, consoles him and they sing of their undying love in the duet, One Love Forever. One by one, the children awake and join them on stage. Anastasia dramatically portrays a dream she has just had. Then, in an upbrat song of hope she explains her optimistic outlook in My Name Is Anastasia. The ensemble joins her at the end, assuring one another they will all soon be rising up to life again. To while away the time, the family pretends they are at the French Ambassador's New Year's Ball.At the height of the ensuing waltz, Comrade Sladislav, Captain of the Red Guard, and a band of revolutionary guards burst it. Sladislav harangues Nicholas and the family. Then, in the vindictive Song of the Revolution, he extols the greatness of la Révolution as the family watches in fear. Nicholas and Alexandra remind each other of their one love forever and the children look for dawn in darkest night. The Captain then marches the family down to the cellar (off-stage), ostensibly to await transport. Thus trapped, they are easy prey for the revolvers of Sladislav and his men. The self-satisfies revolutionary reemerges and makes his closing statements before exiting.Scored for piano and percussion. Dramatis Personæ:Anastasia (soprano) Comrade Sladislav (baritone) Nicholas (baritone) Alexandra (contralto) Olga (soprano) Maria (mezzo-soprano) Alexis (mezzo-soprano) Guards (2 tenors and a baritone)

Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: A0.733069 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Marc Oliver. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 179 pages. Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings #2968245. Published by Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings (A0.733069). Tchaikovsky referred to the piece as his Serbo-Russian March while writing it. It was premiered in Moscow on November 17  1876, conducted by Nikolai Rubinstein. The march is highly programmatic in its form and organization. The first section describes the oppression of the Serbs by the Turkish. It uses two Serbian folk songs, Sunce jarko, ne sijaÅ¡ jednako (Bright sun, you do not shine equally), by Isidor Ćirić and Rado ide Srbin u vojnike (Gladly does the Serb become a soldier), by Josip Runjanin - giving way to the second section in the relative major key, which describes the Russians rallying to help the Serbs. This is based on a simple melody with the character of a rustic dance which is passed around the orchestra until finally it gives way to a solemn statement of the Russian national anthem God Save the Tsar. The third section of the piece is a repeat of Tchaikovsky's furious orchestral climax, reiterating the Serbian cry for help. The final section describes the Russian volunteers marching to assist the Serbs. It uses a Russian tune, this time in the tonic major key and includes another blazing rendition of God Save the Tsar prophesying the triumph of the Slavonic people over tyranny. The overture finishes with a virtuoso coda for the full orchestra. The piece shares a few refrains with the 1812 Overture, with which it is frequently paired in performance. This is the Tsarist (i.e., non-Soviet) Version.
