By IndrÄ— GerikaitÄ—. By Juozas Naujalis. Arranged by Balys Vaitkus. Classical,Religious,Romantic Period. Individual part. 2 pages. Nacionaline vargonininku asociacija #845554. Published by Nacionaline vargonininku asociacija (A0.1251278).

12 Organ Trios, Op. 4. Taking into account the date of publication (1897) these seem to be the first printed organ compositions of Naujalis. They were published in Warsaw, in the collection Preludia na organy, part 2, series III. The publication soon received positive comments in the Polish newspaper of the St. Cecilia Society, Musica sacra (1898 No. 5). There are many signs that Naujalis used this edition as his favourite teaching manual since the fingerings and pedaling given are from the author himself.

Juozas Naujalis (1869–1934) – Lithuanian composer and organist. In 1892, he was appointed organist and choir leader at the Kaunas Cathedral, a position he held until his death. Naujalis became actively involved in organizing local musical societies and institutions. As an outcome of his groundbreaking work, a number of important private entities, such as the first boys’ choir in Lithuania based at the Archcathedral Basilica in Kaunas, courses and the school for organists (1911), the first legal Lithuanian bookshop and music publishing house in Kaunas (1905–1912), the first music magazine Vargonininkas (The Organist) and calendars for organists published in Lithuanian (1909–1910), and the music school in Kaunas (1919), have been launched. In 1908, he founded the Children Society and St. Gregory Society for Organists, which was later reorganised into St. Cecilia Society for church musicians (1924). Naujalis was also the first Lithuanian composer to achieve recognition abroad. His church music was published in Regensburg, Warsaw, St. Petersburg, Leipzig and Paris. In recognition of his merits in the field of church music he was made Commander of the Order of the Crown of Italy in Rome, in 1929.

A total of 29 organ pieces by Naujalis were recorded at the Archcathedral Basilica in Kaunas in 2019.

By Damien Gauci. By Damien Gauci. Classical,Contemporary. Score. 5 pages. Damien Gauci #1072002. Published by Damien Gauci (A0.1495485).

A shadow! Whiskers heart begins to race once again, he needs to get out of here as quick as he can, something else is here and it could be out to get him. Whiskers jumps out of the attic and scurries down the stairs. He needs to be quick though because he can hear the other creature not far behind him. He looks for an exit out of the house but he has no luck. Time is running out and he needs to get out or hide before he is caught.

Whiskers finds a safe spot to hide once again behind a rotting bookshelf that does a decent job to conceal himself. He can relax now but he needs to be quiet to make sure that the other creature doesn’t find him. He waits for a while and doesn’t hear much movement but he can’t be too sure. Whiskers thinks that the other creature must have lost interest and ventured elsewhere so he decides to leave his hiding spot and explore the house some more.

And Realised He Had to Hide.

By Stephen R Dalrymple. By Malthie Babcock & Franklin Sheppard. Arranged by Stephen R Dalrymple (Dalrymple Designs). Sacred. Score. 13 pages. Stephen R Dalrymple #3070593. Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818215).

This is My Father’s World

♫ piano solo arrangement by Stephen R Dalrymple

♫ lyrics by Malthie Babcock with a traditional English melody adapted by Franklin Sheppard

♫ Malthie Davenport Babcock, a pastor in upstate New York, was an athletic man who loved to walk near Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment. He often told his wife that he was “going out to see the Father’s world.†This phrase prompted the title for one of his original poems. His wife published his poems after his death in 1901 (age 42.)

♫ In 1915 Franklin Shepherd, his friend, adapted Babcock’s poem and an English folk tune to create the hymn. Shepherd named the melody TERRA BEATA (Blessed Earth).

♫ The original folk tune appears in the opening notes of the Shire Theme by Howard Shore in the Lord of the Rings Film Series.

♫ The last stanza used in this video is seldom found in hymnbooks. But there is a delightful idea here that since Jesus Christ was incarnated on the earth, the entire earth is holy ground.

Composed by Antonio Gervasoni. Classical,Contemporary. 50 pages. Antonio Gervasoni #692687. Published by Antonio Gervasoni (A0.1088422).

Mini-opera for soprano, tenor and piano. I've wanted to write a piece based on Twain's Diaries of Adam and Eve ever since I read it. I always thought that the story had great potential to write a little opera buffa, and when I came across it by chance while tidying up a bookshelf, the idea came back to me and this time I finally decided to make it a reality. I have used only a few sentences from Twain's book and arranged them in such a way as to produce a workable libretto. For the most part, I've kept everything intact, except for a few words that I've taken the liberty of contract (for example, it's instead of it is; that's instead of that is). Also, in Eve's last entry, I changed every wife to everyone, as I want her words to refer to all human beings and not just women.

Composed by American Folk Hymn. Arranged by Mark R Lewis. A Cappella,Folk,Religious,Sacred,Traditional. Octavo. 12 pages. Mark R Lewis #810545. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1213360).

What Wondrous Love Is This is an American folk hymn that became popular during the early 1800s. It was first published in 1811 in the various hymnbooks that came out during the Second Great Awakening with various lyricists credited. Many publications attributed the song's tune to The Ballad of Captain Kidd, a popular, though much older, song and tune at the time. Earlier versions of the text are slightly different, but as with many folk tunes, it is difficult to tell which transcriptions are regional variants and which are errors by the transcriber.

This arrangement of the tune by Mark Lewis is for a cappella TTBB Ensemble. All four voice parts are featured for a verse with different accompaniment each time. There are key changes to better place the melody in the ranges of each voice and there are moving notes in many background voices through most of the piece. As with many of Mark's arrangements, the outer voices will be pushed towards the extremes of their ranges even though the notes and rhythms are not incredibly difficult. Most intermediate choirs should enjoy performing this piece.

Marienvesper. Composed by Claudio Monteverdi. This edition: separate part. Eulenburg Orchestral Series. Downloadable, Individual part. Duration 70 minutes. Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital #Q6135. Published by Ernst Eulenburg & Co. GmbH - Digital (S9.Q6135).

Latin.

Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610 is a work which has both fascinated and perplexed musicologists and performers for many years. It forms by far the larger part of the composer's first significant publication of sacred music, entitled: 'Of the most blessed virgin a Mass for six voices for church choirs, and Vespers for more voices with several sacred concertos suitable for princely chapels or apartments'. By the time this publication appeared, Monteverdi had been in the service of the Gonzaga court at Mantua for at least 18 years, and he was seeking a change of employment, so that the dedication of the volume to the reigning pope, Paul V, may be interpreted as a form of self-advertisement. Originally issued as an Urtext study score, the edition is based closely on the extant printed source, the set of partbooks published at Venice in 1610, and retains the original note values, key and mensuration signatures.

Composed by Evelyn R. Larter, ASCAP. Arranged by Evelyn Larter Music. Christian,Sacred. Score and part. 8 pages. Evelyn R Larter #3135385. Published by Evelyn R Larter (A0.749797).

This is a setting of two old hymn tunes, Retreat and Rockingham, originally arranged as a choral anthem with violin obbligato but here rearranged as a cello solo with piano. Also available as a violin solo, it is suitable as prelude or offertory music. The first tune, Retreat, is most commonly found in American hymnbooks for the hymn From Every Stormy Wind that Blows, hence the title, but in the United Kingdom mostly Communion hymns are sung to these melodies. Rockingham is often used as the tune for When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. If the title is to be printed in a church bulletin I recommend using whichever hymn is most familiar in the context as the title! A MIDI recording is provided. More information on my music may be found at www.evelynlartermusic.com or on my Facebook page for Evelyn Larter Music.

14 Preludes, Op. 20. Fourteen pieces for organ, dedicated to a “beloved friend, Fr. Teodoras Brazys,†presents the largest collection of works for this instrument in Naujalis’ oeuvre. Like Naujalis, Brazys was the graduate of the Church Music School in Regensburg. These fourteen preludes for organ appear to be written in expression of deep affinity and gratitude to a like-minded friend who shared similar values. Some of Naujalis’ organ preludes have been included in music collections abroad – by Mieczysław Surzyński in Warsaw and Joseph Joubert in Paris.
