Composed by Richard Sherman and Robert Sherman. Arranged by Greg Link. A Cappella. Octavo. 3 pages. Greg Link #6248967. Published by Greg Link (A0.828271).
Originally from the musical 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', 'Hushabye Mountain' is one of the most well known lullabies. This simple, lilting arrangement is written for a cappella SATB (although the range of each part means that other combinations are possible), and works well as a gentle end to a choral concert. This arrangement encourages good breath control, soft, sustained lines and smooth singing. In performance, each layer can be built up one by one and/or could also taper off part by part as members walk off the stage at the end of the piece, creating a calming end to a set or performance. This arrangement is ideal for high school choirs interested in exploring a slower, delicate piece which could provide a great contrast to more upbeat numbers in a musical theatre set.
