This circus march lends itself to bassoons. The second time through the trio, the first bassoon could play up an octave ad. lib. A contrabassoon part is included as an alternate for the bassoon 4 part. The sound sample omits the repeats. The 1st bassoon part is more difficult than the other parts.

The Swan, arranged for Bassoon Quartet (or 'cello or trombone quartet)

Considered one of the most beautiful melodies ever written, Saint-Saëns' The Swan portrays the legend of the swan song: a popular Ancient Greek and Roman belief that the swan, the most beautiful of all animals, remained silent until its final moments of life, when it would sing the most beautiful of all songs. Originally portrayed by the ‘cello, this arrangement highlights the expressive tenor register of the bassoon, alongside the warmth of the bass notes and light ripple in the accompaniment.

Prelude II from George Gershwin's Three Preludes for piano composed in 1926 and transcribed for Bb Clarinet and two Bassoons.
Gershwin referred to the piece as a sort of blues lullaby. 
The second Prelude is distinctly influenced by jazz and the piece begins with a subdued melody winding its way above a smooth, steady bassline. The harmonies and melodies of this piece are built on thirds, emphasizing both the interval of the seventh and the major/minor duality of the blues scale. In the second section, the key, tempo, and thematic material change and the opening melody and bass return in the final section. This arrangement is transposed down from the original key to B minor.
A perfect ensemble piece for classroom study, woodwind recitals, competitions or church interludes. Duration: 03:00

Claude Debussy's piece for solo piano, The Girl with the Flaxen Hair, is a soothing a calming work. Here it has been arranged for bassoon quartet (3 bassoons and contrabassoon).

The melody lies predominantly in the tenor register of the first bassoon with the other three parts filling out the chords and countermelodies.
