Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.940721 Composed by Julia Muench. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 2 pages. NJ Original Music #3415559. Published by NJ Original Music (A0.940721). Echoes of Arcturus The Bear Constellation in North American winter skies,  is an accessible and lovely shorter recital piece for the advancing intermediate piano student. The use of the higher piano registers in the beginning lends a unique ethereal quality. The change of meter from 3/4 to 7/8 halfway through,  adds an interesting feel to the piece.  Could also be played as part of a church service ( Unitarian, Methodist) The choice of Eb as the key signature gives it a lovely lullaby/nocturne mood. The live performance of Echoes of Arcturus may be viewed on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMZEGXC9f5w  Julia Muench currently resides on the piano faculty at the Monmouth Conservatory of Music (now under the Count Basie Theatre umbrella) in Red Bank, New Jersey, with a large piano student class. Her more recent musical activities besides composing, involve extensive piano teaching and giving piano recitals. The past two years, she has spent a good deal of time traveling in and out of the country. Italy and Chile have been among her destinations abroad. She performed a piano concert including her own composition, Nautilus Dances, as part of the Utopia Exhibit ( focusing on German Emigration to the US in the 1830's) in Washington DC's German Museum and at the Missouri history Museum in St. Louis, MO.Her latest piano concert in Red Bank, NJ featured composers Chopin, Debussy and Khatchaturian. Cello Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1265248 Composed by David Popper. 19th Century,Classical. Individual part. 21 pages. Paladino Editions #858096. Published by Paladino Editions (A0.1265248). Generations of cellists derive from David Popper’s studio, and even today, his three collections of a total of 65 etudes remain the most important and probably most-played cello etudes worldwide. The Zehn mittelschwere große Etüden, Op. 76 bear the original subtitle Als Vorschule zur Hohen Schule des Violoncellospiels, Op. 73 and were first published in 1905. It seems rather that Popper felt the urge to cover some more technical issues than a real “preparation†to the next level of difficulty in a conventional sense.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845972 By NEEDTOBREATHE. By Nathaniel Bo Rinehart, Nathaniel Rinehart, William Bear Rinehart, and William Rinehart. Arranged by Kyle Pudenz. Contemporary,Pop,Praise & Worship,Wedding. Score and parts. 52 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #5297799. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845972). Most folks might tell you that covering a song like this without an acoustic guitar would be impossible.Nay! I say. Impossible is nothing when you have an ambitious group of string players and a thirst for greatness! So I made an interlocking pizzicato part between the 1st & 2nd violin, which re-creates the pulse of the fingerpicking guitar from Needtobreathe's original track. With a little bit of rehearsal, your quartet will soon be sailing through these verses with no need for any assistance from an accompanist. That being said, if your thirst for greatness falls a little short, you can also dial this tune back to easy mode and perform with a guitarist. I have included an acoustic guitar part specifically for this purpose, because I, like you, have done my fair share of wedding gigs where someone calls a tune at the last minute and you have no time (or desire) to waste on a rehearsal. This arrangement uses strum bowing and ghost notes fairly extensively as a means to create rhythmic grooves. If you are unfamiliar with these concepts, I recommend checking out the following series of videos: https://youtu.be/kfX3kxjC93sPerformance time - approximately 4:30Questions? Feel free to contact me via my website, www.kylepudenz.com/ or on the 'Insta @theviolinvagabond.

Short: another great fun and educational publication. The word calisthenics is derived from the Greek, kalos, beautiful; and sthenos, strength; the object of calisthenic exercises being to secure physical beauty by developing the limbs and muscles of the human frame, and making the joints flexible, thereby giving strength and power, and ensuring a graceful carriage, erect bearing, and freedom to the figure. In the words of the old Victorians:The highest refinement of that beauty is unattainable without splendour of activity and delicate strength.Exercise is now recognised to be as great a necessity in woman's education as in man's we are learning that many bodily defects and much of her weak health is attributable to the want of it; more especially in youth, when the frame is growing.Such exercises must, however, be carried out under a system; irregularly conducted, they do more harm than good. The constitution must be coaxed, not strained; the strength not unduly taxed, no over-fatigue ensuing; for exhaustion makes people look worn and old. The exertion must not be too violent, and the health and physical development of each pupil must be specially studied.Early morning or evening are the best times to select, but on no account immediately after a meal. The clothing should not be too warm, nor interfere in any way with the action of the limbs.A musical accompaniment will best preserve the necessary rhythm - the time, four or eight beats to a bar; failing this, the pupils should be taught to sing or count in concert, thereby keeping up their interest and zest. A castanet will, failing better means, help to mark the time with or without music. One of our aims is to revive these compositions and bring them to the attention of players and audiences.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.998879 Composed by Robert A. Howard. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 4 pages. Robert A. Howard #6480941. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.998879). The Fragment series of short piano pieces was conceived for pianists of almost any standard. As suggested in the title, each piece is based on a single compositional fragment or sketch that had otherwise remained incomplete and dormant. Fragment VI is the final piece in this six-movement piano cycle (though Fragments may be performed separately). The work's main middle section bears some similarity in tone and mood to the first piece in the cycle, Fragment I. Fragment VI is slightly more technically challenging than the previous movements. It has an arch form whereby the two, slow, initial introductory sections return in reverse order as the conclusion. The extended centrepiece section cumulatively builds in texture, dynamics, and tension, and is a set of modal variations over a 4-bar descending ground bass. The piece is highly accessible and is appropriate for almost all standards of pianist, including students and more advanced players. Other works from the Fragment cycle are also available via Sheet Music Plus.Duration: 4 minutes 10 seconds.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1474698 Composed by Johannes Brahms (1833-1897). Arranged by Stephen Levintow. 19th Century,Romantic Period. 24 pages. Cypress Publishing #1052264. Published by Cypress Publishing (A0.1474698). Johannes Brahms is best known for his symphonies, concerti and large scale chamber works, but his catalog of over 200 Lieder shows he was also a master of small forms and intimate expression. Wiegenlied (Lullaby), included in this set of arrangements for string quartet, is one of the best known and most loved melodies ever written. His original gently syncopated accompaniment, reproduced here, makes an elegant backdrop for it. The set opens with Sapphische Ode (Sapphic Ode), whose title is not directly connected to the ancient Greek poet Sappho of Lesbos, but refers to the verse form of the poem Brahms set, that bears her name. The melody resembles the theme of the slow movement from Brahms’s violin concerto, written a few years earlier. Following it is Wenn du nur zuweilen lächelst (If you only sometimes smile), a fine example of the mood of longing and melancholy that Brahms often depicted in both songs and instrumental music. The music moves back and forth between major and minor, and the flowing 9/8 meter occasionally varies the 3+3+3 pulse to 2+2+2+3 in a natural-seeming way.Brahms never wrote an opera, but Von ewiger Liebe (Of Eternal Love), which builds from a somber opening, through a stormy middle section to a powerful climax, gives us a sense of what a Brahms operatic scene, in this case a love duet, might have sounded like. It is one of his most famous songs, and rightly so.CYPRESS PUBLISHING is pleased to be the imprint for arrangements for string ensemble by Stephen Levintow. He is a free lance professional violist and violinist specializing in chamber music, who began making string quartet and trio arrangements for wedding, party and corporate events, to expand the repertory or to improve on existing versions. Selections include unusual pieces by both familiar and lesser-known composers, plus standard classical and popular favorites. The goal is to produce high-quality, musically satisfying arrangements faithful to the composer’s original material, yet sight-readable in most cases by working professionals or intermediate to advanced students. The full range of normal string technique is employed, while avoiding unnecessary technical complexity. Melodic material is distributed throughout the four voices where appropriate, to maintain listener and performer interest. All parts and scores are set in Sibelius© software format, with careful attention to legibility and page turns.

Arranged by James Pybus. Celtic,Chamber,Folk,Irish,Multicultural,Wedding,World. 18 pages. James Pybus #869418. Published by James Pybus (A0.1277736). The Skye Boat Song is a late 19th-century Scottish song adaptation of a Gaelic song composed c.1782 by William Ross, entitled Cuachag nan Craobh (Cuckoo of the Tree). In the original song, the composer laments to a cuckoo that his unrequited love, Lady Marion Ross, is rejecting him. The 19th-century English lyrics instead evoked the journey of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) from Benbecula to the Isle of Skye as he evaded capture by government soldiers after his defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. It is often played as a slow lullaby or waltz. It entered the modern folk canon in the twentieth century with versions by Paul Robeson, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Roger Whittaker, Tori Amos, and many others. Bear McCreary adapted the song as the opening theme music of the 2014 TV series Outlander, sung by Raya Yarbrough, changing the text of Robert Louis Stevenson's poem Sing Me a Song of a Lad That Is Gone (1892) to Lass to fit the story. This arrangement for SATB or AATB Saxophone Quartet is suitable for a wide variety of performance and concert settings.
