Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1353723 Composed by Nejc BeÄan. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. 69 pages. UpBeat Editions #938476. Published by UpBeat Editions (A0.1353723). Judging by it’s scale and duration, Autumn arabesques is a miniature piece, just a feeling of passing of time in the Fall, when it was actually composed. It flies over the warm and sunny transitional days and sinks into dreary foggy November mornings until in the end, the first snowflakes of the year begin to fall from the sky. The titular “arabesques†are found in the rising/falling motifs of the two main musical themes.Full set of Score and parts.further information:www.upbeateditions.comupbeat.editions@gmail.comhttps://www.facebook.com/UpBeatEditions.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.893937 By Diane Guerrero & Stephanie Beatriz. By Lin-Manuel Miranda. Arranged by Joan Bujacich. Contemporary. Score. 5 pages. Joan Bujacich #6880785. Published by Joan Bujacich (A0.893937). This is a JUNIOR level piano arrangement of the very popular song from Encato, What Else Can I Do? from a SMP top selling arranger, Joan Bujacich.  The arrangement plays hands together on down beats. Ms. Bujacich simplified the rhythmic reading to eighth notes except for the answer phrase - Bring it in, Bring it in.  The arrangement also includes only a few select syncopated rhythms, keeping it within the realm of the Junior Level.   Lyrics are also noted. Ms. Bujacich has also arranged this song for Elementary Level and has numerous versions of We Don’t Talk About Bruno and Surface Pressure, also from Encanto, available from SMP.  Joan Bujacich has been arranging songs for her students for decades. Her life-time experience as a performer and teacher result in musical arrangements that feel and sound good. The Synthesia tutorial is available on Youtube. Ms. Bujacich mixes the midi tracks in a recording program with care to bring the listener a better audio experience. Concert Band - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1357096 By Nejc BeÄan. By Nejc BeÄan. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. 340 pages. UpBeat Editions #941723. Published by UpBeat Editions (A0.1357096). Divertimento actually got its title after I finished composing it during the first months of 2019. While trying to search for appropriate titular words which would somehow describe the content of the piece, I kept thinking how light-hearted the musical flow of the whole composition really is. Searching through similar light minded musical content, I did not have to search for long, before I came across the divertimenti of the late 18th century (works by both Wolfgang A. & Leopold Mozart, Haydn, Stamitz, etc.). The informality and casual manner of my piece, as well as the fact that it draws its thematic material from the concept of “absolute†music - without any presupposed program - reminds me of those times, style and the presented musical form established then. Composed in three movements of which the first two are connected, the piece focuses on brightly illuminated colours of the broad spectre provided to us by a full setting of a symphonic wind orchestra.Youtube link - Divertimento starts at 14:20Further info:www.upbeateditions.comupbeat.editions@gmail.comhttps://www.facebook.com/UpBeatEditions.

Published by Joan Bujacich (A0.893936). This is an Elementary level piano arrangement with Alpha Notes of the very popular song from Encato, What Else Can I Do? from a SMP top selling arranger, Joan Bujacich.  The arrangement plays hands together on down beats in single notes. Ms. Bujacich simplified the rhythmic reading to eighth notes, keeping only a few select syncopated rhythms. The arrangement is notated using Alpha Notes. Lyrics are also noted. Large Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955739 Composed by Phil Thrift. Instructional. Score and parts. 18 pages. Phil Thrift #6327371. Published by Phil Thrift (A0.955739). Little Waltz for a Dancing Occasion is intended for junior players and can be performed on virtually any combination of five or more woodwind and/or brass instruments. It is based on my own experience of working with such groups. This waltz is perhaps a little unconventional in that it does not make use of a strong first beat – traditionally played by bass instruments – followed by weaker second and third beats. Furthermore, in this piece most of the phrases are five, seven or nine measures long, thus departing from the four- or eight-measure phrases many players will be used to. From measure 22 the melody in 3/4 time has an accompaniment that is essentially in 2/4 time; I’ve included accents here to help ensure a 2/4 feel. There’s also a rather abrupt ending which, hopefully, will take some by surprise. And everybody gets the tune at some stage, not just the usual melody instruments! The parts included are suitable for the instruments found in groups of learners:flute, oboe, Bb clarinet, bassoonEb alto sax, Bb tenor saxBb trumpet, F/Eb horn, trombone (TC/BC), euphonium (TC/BC), tuba, Bb/Eb bassThe high flute/oboe part is optional. The glockenspiel is also optional and I’ve mainly included this part so that, if you have a drummer who needs something to do, he or she won’t be tempted to just play bass drum on first beat, snare on second and third beats! The tempo chosen will depend on the abilities of the players.Apart from maybe saving paper, writing two parts on one system does help players to learn to read such charts – something I feel all players should learn to do from an early age.

Large Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Banjo,Baritone Saxophone,Clarinet,English Horn,Flute,Guitar,Harpsichord,Marimba,Oboe,Organ,Piano,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone,Treble Clef Instrument,Trumpet,Ukulele,Vibraphone,Violin,Xylophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.931832 Composed by Nathan Petitpas - Dots and Beams. Instructional. Score and parts. 124 pages. Dots and Beams #4269045. Published by Dots and Beams (A0.931832). Dots and Beams creates a wide variety of reading materials for musicians at all skill levels and for all instruments. The goal of Dots and Beams is to break music down into its elements and provide reading material focused on systematically developing each element in isolation. These books can be used in any number of ways and are an invaluable tool for creative musicians who enjoy inventing new exercises. In addition, these books make excellent, thoughtfully graduated sight-reading material for a wide range of ability levels from student to professional. This collection presents its user with a series of notes on a treble staff in the context of increasingly complex rhythmic material. The pitch material in this book is entirely diatonic with a space left at the beginning of each system in which one can write a key signature. Early chapters use only notes on the staff while subsequent chapters begin to add notes on ledger lines above and below the staff. Each chapter contains two exercises in each of the following time signatures: 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 6/8, 9/8, and 12/8. This gives exercises in 2, 3, and 4 beats per bar in both simple and compound meters. From chapter to chapter the conceptual difficulty of the rhythmic material increases. The exercises in this collection are intentionally aimless, wandering, and difficult to internalize. They resemble standard melodies on the surface but don’t emphasize any particular tonal centre or harmonic movement. They are designed this way for several reasons. In keeping the melodic material as non-specific as possible the door is left open for the materials to be used in conjunction with any number of exercises, something that would be much more difficult with a composition that dictates the harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic phrasing. It also allows the user to read the exercises in any key signature, making this a great tool to help students learn to think in different keys. The unpredictability of these exercises also forces the user to process every note and rhythm as its own event without relying on pattern recognition or melodic and harmonic tendencies to help in figuring out the notes and rhythms. While I absolutely agree that the skill of predicting music’s direction from harmonic and melodic cues is an essential skill for any musician to develop, I think we will all agree that resources for this type of reading practice are already abundant. This collection, on the other hand, is designed to develop the user’s ability to process raw musical data. Once this skill is strengthened and internalized it is my belief that the act of reading more predictable and typically melodic music will be made much easier as the processing of notes and rhythms will be second nature, allowing the musician to focus on musicality. This book is a supplement to practising sight-reading using real music, not a replacement; I encourage you to use both. If this material is being used to practice sight-reading, it is encouraged to cycle through the exercises quickly rather than dwelling on a particular exercise for a long period of time. The goal in practising sight-reading is not to learn the material but to develop the skill of reading new material. Some suggestions for how to use this book include: Read each exercise in all 15 key signatures from 7 flats to 7 sharps. Practice key changes by writing in a different key signature for each system. Increase the challenge of the previous exercise by using a metronome on weak beats. For example, instead of putting the metronome click on each quarter-note in 4/4, play the exercise with the metronome giving the second eighth note of each beat, or the last sixteenth note, or beats 2 and 4. Be creative with this one, the possib.

Concert Band - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.827137 Composed by Bob Marshall. Folk. Score and parts. 23 pages. Bob Marshall #1910645. Published by Bob Marshall (A0.827137). This bright, cheerful piece portrays a visit to Grandma and Grandpa’s house and eating some of Grandpa’s famous griddlecakes. The melody, reminiscent of early Americana, trades back and forth between the woodwinds and high brass while the low brass, woodwinds, and percussion keep that good ole country two-beat a goin’! Using only 6 notes, this work is good teaching tool for dynamic shading (it runs the gamut from p to ff) as well as keeping a good steady offbeat (2 & 4) going without turning the beat around. Key of Eb. Beginning Band Series Level 1.5-2.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.943859 Composed by Jonah Koppitz. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 1 pages. Jonah Koppitz #5748861. Published by Jonah Koppitz (A0.943859). The first thing that you should know about this piece is that it breaks nearly every rule of counterpoint that it can. To me, this composition represents the antithesis of how classical composers thought to compose. By directly contradicting the rules they follow and still creating music, it shows that stiff rule formats and limits on what makes good music are not necessary and oftentimes restrict creative composing. My only hope is that, if Johann Joseph Fux were alive today, he’d see my work as an abomination of all the rules he holds so dear.My Ruleset:1. In sixth species counterpoint (countercounterpoint/anticounterpoint), you may write as many notes as desired in your new melody for each note in the cantus firmus.2. The first note and the last note must not form either an octave, unison, or a fifth with the cantus firmus.3. The penultimate note of your melody should not be an even scale degree.4. Augmented Fourths must resolve down and Diminished Fifths must resolve up.5. You may use parallel motion very recklessly because it obscures the independence of the voices.6. The harmonic interval formed between the voices on the downbeat of every measure may not be a perfect/major consonance-unison, third, fifth, sixth or octave. Diminished, Augmented, and Minor are fine.7. The interval formed between the voices on the second beat of every measure may not be a major third or major sixth.8. The overall shape of your melody should have a single high-point, preferably as far from the middle as is reasonable.9. Except for on the first beat of a measure, Consonant intervals are only allowed if preceded by a dissonant interval on a strong beat.10. Every Chord is fair game.11. The interval between the first beat of each measure should alternate between even numbers and odd numbers.12. Leaps must prepare, leap, and resolve in the same direction and may be greater than a fifth.13. Functional Harmony is for cowards who let chords tell them what to do.
