A simple yet beautiful arrangement of the traditional Christmas carol for SATB choir and pipe organ. Opening with soprano solo and gentle accompaniment, each verse of Christina Rossetti's poem develops through choral a cappella, chromatic vocal harmony and concludes with a strong organ statement. This arrangement is ideal for choirs of all sizes, but works particularly well with chamber choir and can be used as an introit or centrepiece to any Christmas performance.

I had a burr under my saddle to write a Celtic-sounding wedding song using the familiar fourth interval we hear at the beginning of Here Comes the Bride. Of course, playing with this in Dorian produced a lovely, rich melody and harmony, but further experimentation led me to a lighter-toned version of that same melody in Mixolydian. Thus, the idea of separating the song into Groom and Bride sections was born. Each section is ABA format, with the same A part in the respective modes, but their B part differs slightly. The third section (the Couple) utilizes the Groom's A part and the Bride's B part, symbolizing how a man and woman unite their lives as part of their wedding vows.

I started writing this song in 2020, around when I began playing the harp more often and when I first started writing my own original pieces. It went through several iterations, but what started out as an experiment in mixolydian mode turned out to be a calming piece that celebrates just being still. So often we pack our schedules to the brim, and burn out trying to do all the things. Lately I've come to appreciate the value of just stopping to breathe, to pray, to just be in the moment. Sometimes the best music happens in the space between notes.

Beginning harpers can be frustrated by the limitations of their instrument's size, or by not knowing where and how to place their fingers. This arrangement attempts to alleviate these problems by only utilizing 12 strings to accommodate the smallest harps, and fingering guides to aid inexperienced players. Although this arrangement can stand alone as a solo, an optional melody part for Irish flute, C tin whistle, flute, violin, or any other C instrument is also provided for fun with a friend! For more experienced harpers, chords are provided for improvisation, or you can move your hands down an octave for a richer tone.
