Composed in 2007, it was inspired by the train rides I took while studying abroad in Great Britain. The Yorkshire area is especially beautiful, and the music was inspired by my memory of sitting on a train with a tea in hand on a drizzly day.  However, I was never fully satisfied with the work, as it felt incomplete. One reason was that I was rushed to meet a short deadline when composing this piece. It wasn't until the summer of 2018 that I decided to do it justice and revise it. I also felt like it deserved an orchestral version. This new and final version is a little shorter than the original and offers a better balanced orchestration.  Level: grade 3+ (intermediate) ; Duration: About 5 minutes, 15 seconds

The arrangement is in E minor.The arrangement took me about 2 days to create. I was inspired by Lady Gaga's performance with Bradley Cooper at the Oscar's. When making the arrangement, I listened to their performance many times as well as their official recorded version of the song. I have also touched up some of the chords to make a better sounding piano solo arrangement.Shallow was featured in A Star is Born, where Lady Gaga performs along with Bradley Cooper in a loving rendition of the song.Lady Gaga - Shallow Piano Solo Arrangement (From A Star is Born) is meant for the high intermediate to advanced players looking to play some of the popular music of today (Mar 2019). This is the latest hit on radios and TV having been featured at the Oscars. The song will take a bit of practice. If you are having a hard time with the arrangement, you can omit some of the bottom notes of the right hand. These notes will not effect the melody, but are just there to add some color.The arrangement of Lady Gaga Shallow for piano solo is 4.5 pages long, and should take about 3 minutes and 40 seconds to fully perform. You can remove some of the bottom notes in the right hand if you wish to make the arrangement easier.

The Bishop's Dance: a curious and comical piece in 11 time (3, 3, 3, 2). It comes from the legend of Robin Hood, in which Robin meets the bishop of Hereford, who had hoped to get the better of him, but Robin prevails and forces him to dance. The clumsy attempts of the ungainly Bishop to obey Robin's commands cause great merriment among the merry men To quote our vicar, Rev Barbara, after the recital For me music paints a picture, and, for that, I have got this picture of someone going for a stroll in their village and then they came across a very old cat wandering down the street imaging it could catch birds but never catching them. And then it would lie down for a sleep and dream of the days when it was a kitten.... It was a very reflective programme and turns our mind about What for the Autumn, what do we need to do next.. it really did fit in with the mood of the year, as we turn towards building up the programme for next year... So thank you, it gave us time to reflect in a very beautiful manner.... However, many published arrangements often just start on a pick-up note or two on the last beat of the bar with no chord indicated and end the song on a chord that is not the tonic or main key chord that tells the listener the song has ended. ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’ by John Denver is a good example. In the key of ‘D’ the song starts with the notes ‘C#’ and ‘E’ and then the first bar is indicated as ‘D’ major chord. If you start the song playing a ‘D’ chord you will most likely sing the wrong notes because ‘C#’ and ‘E’ belong to the A7 chord of the song. So a simple 2 bar intro of ‘D’ , A7 (start singing on the last beat) and back to ‘D’ would help the singer to get the tempo and sing the correct pick-up notes. The printed sheet music of ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’ ends on an ‘A7’ chord of the chorus and as such does not indicate that the end chord should be ‘D’. So it is not always safe to assume that the end chord in printed music indicates the key of the song. Lyrics with chord symbols to show when to change chords. Matching the fingerpicking tab or sheet music to the lyrics can sometimes prove difficult so I have included a lyrics sheet of ‘You can close your eyes’ with chord symbols. This is a very popular format to give an indication when to change chords. However, the drawback is that there is no way of knowing how long each chord lasts as the bar structure is missing.
