The Joy of Life – Orchestra version 2 This is an original composition written in 2004 and has now been arranged and expanded for the Orchestra. It has an optimistic feel and has a few separate tunes interweaving starting very simply with a small woodwind group and expanding to climax for the full orchestra. It has a repeating descending bass line and a repeating four-bar harmony structure which gives it a feeling of moving forward. An optional piano part is included but not shown in the score. This tune comes from an Air by Thomas Linley (1733 – 1795). He was an English tenor, music teacher, and musician active in Bath, Somerset, England. This setting has been adapted from an arrangement for voice and piano by Ella Ivimey (1934). The arrangement is for Solo Flute and with Piano accompaniment. The Minstrel Boy is an Irish song written by Thomas Moore (1779–1852) and published as part of his Irish Melodies. Moore himself came to be nicknamed The Minstrel Boy.

This is an extended arrangement for the Concert Band. There are parts for Horns in F and Eb, Euphonium in BC, and TC. There is a descant for Piccolo, Flute, Solo Clarinet, and Trumpet in the last strain.

MacArthur Park is a song written and composed by Jimmy Webb. Richard Harris was the first to record it in 1968; his version peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart. MacArthur Park was subsequently covered by numerous artists, including a 1969 Grammy-winning version by country music singer Waylon Jennings and a number-one Billboard Hot 100 disco arrangement by Donna Summer in 1978.

This full-length version (almost 8 mins) has been arranged for the Big Band. A Brass Band and a Concert Band versions are also available.

White Christmas – Concert Band with optional Vocal and Piano Accompaniment

 

White Christmas is an Irving Berlin song reminiscing about an old-fashioned Christmas setting. The song was written by Berlin for the 1942 musical film Holiday Inn. The composition won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 15th Academy Awards. Bing Crosby's record topped the Billboard chart for 11 weeks in 1942 and returned to the number one position again in December 1943 and 1944. The Little Drummer Boy (originally known as Carol of the Drum) is a popular Christmas song written by American composer Katherine Kennicott Davis in 1941.  First recorded in 1951 by the Trapp Family, the song was further popularized by a 1958 recording by the Harry Simeone Chorale; the Simeone version was re-released successfully for several years, and the song has been recorded many times since. In the lyrics, the singer relates how, as a poor young boy, he was summoned by the Magi to the Nativity of Jesus. Without a gift for the Infant, the little drummer boy played his drum with approval from Jesus' mother, Mary, recalling, I played my best for him and He smiled at me.
