Composed by Joseph Dillon Ford. 20th Century. Score and parts. 7 pages. David Warin Solomons2 #3691565. Published by David Warin Solomons2 (A0.958467).

The Fuga a tre voci was composed on 28 March 1976 not long before I moved from Miami to Cambridge to begin graduate study in music at Harvard. It remained an imperfect sketch in need of extensive revisions, and languished for a quarter-century in a manila file folder until I rediscovered it late in 2001 and was pleased to find that it was worth the trouble of resurrecting. This was no easy task, as it was my original intention to comply closely with eighteenth-century contrapuntal practices. Although I had written numerous polyphonic pieces in a similar style since 1976, none of these was a fugue. There was also the challenge of reconnecting with musical ideas I had originated at the age of twenty-four at a time in my life when I was rapidly approaching the age of fifty. Still, I persevered in my efforts to revive and improve this early polyphonic essay, and hope the performer and listener will be as pleased with the results as I am. This three-voice fugue can be performed by any instrument or combination of instruments, including the harpsichord.

SKU: A0.855170

Composed by Felix Mendelssohn(1809-1847)/Charles Wesley(1707-1788). Arranged by Joseph Pugh. Christian,Christmas,Classical,Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Joseph Pugh #6332107. Published by Joseph Pugh (A0.855170).

In 1855, British musician William Hayman Cummings adapted Felix Mendelssohn's secular music from Festgesang to fit the lyrics of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing written by Charles Wesley.[10] Wesley envisioned the song being sung to the same tune as his Easter song Christ the Lord Is Risen Today,[11] and in some hymnals that tune is included for Hark! The Herald Angels Sing along with the more popular Mendelssohn-Cummings tune.[12]

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing was regarded as one of the Great Four Anglican Hymns and published as number 403 in The Church Hymn Book (New York and Chicago, 1872).[13]

In Britain, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing has popularly been performed in an arrangement that maintains the basic original William H. Cummings harmonisation of the Mendelssohn tune for the first two verses, but adds a soprano descant and a last verse harmonisation for the organ in verse three by Sir David Willcocks. This arrangement was first published in 1961 by Oxford University Press in the first book of the Carols for Choirs series. For many years it has served as the recessional hymn of the annual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at King's College Chapel, Cambridge.[14] wikipedia

This is Joseph Pugh' SATB arrangement of this classic Christmas carol.

Instrumental Duet,Lever Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.803789

Composed by Anonymous, or perhaps John Wyeth. Arranged by Serena O'Meara. Folk,Praise and Worship,Sacred,Traditional,Wedding. 3 pages. O'Meara Music #4717917. Published by O'Meara Music (A0.803789).

The words of this hymn that we know today first appeared in 1758 in a collection of poetry used in a church meeting in Cambridge, UK. The folk melody, named Hallelujah or Good Shepherd, appeared in 1813 in A Repository of Sacred Music, Part Second published by John Wyeth in Pennsylvania. Wyeth was a compiler of music for the purpose of publishing, not a musician.

The tune of the hymn is called Nettleton. Asahel Nettleton was an evangelist from Connecticut who worked in New England. There is no indication that he wrote any music. The first appearance of this melody with the Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing lyrics was published by Darius Jones in 1852. Charles Ives used this folk melody in two of his compositions: First String Quartet and the song The Innate.

This duet is in the key of D. The melody is divided evenly between parts. Dynamics are clearly marked.
