It was a huge worldwide hit in 1970, selling six million copies and winning several Grammies. Yet the song nearly wasn’t released as a single at all; radio stations at the time rarely played songs longer than three minutes and Bridge Over Troubled Water came in at five. This version is arranged as a duet for two Tenor Saxophones. Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performances, with plenty of opportunity for expressive playing and dynamic contrast. The overall performance time is around four and a half minutes. The short sample audio is from the Clarinet and Alto Saxophone version while the full-length youtube performance is the Alto Saxophone Duet. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills. There are some challenging syncopated rhythms, though knowing the original song well will help. The Tune appears above the treble staff of the piano in order to avoid the difficulty for the pianist to have to read over and above the lyrics. Finally, there are two or three common licks or piano figures that are commonly used in folk and rock music that the improviser could incorporate into other tunes of a similar character.  .
