My arrangement abridges and slightly simplifies this classical standard which was originally written for Viola and Piano. I reduced it from 6 1/2 minutes to 2 1/2 minutes by focusing on the recapitulation of the main theme but also included opening and closing cadenzas. I have scored it for a Double Reed Octet; 1 Oboe solo, accompanied by 4 Oboe parts and 3 Bassoon parts. The Soloist has the melody throughout. The other Oboes and Bassoon 1,2 have occasional countermelody, but mostly pulse ensemble rich chords while the Bassoon 3 sits on pedal tones. Overall, it creates a rich, balanced double reed sound which utilizes the full range of the instrument. Fairly easy, but sounds more advanced with its full chords and the dramatic interpretation markings I have added.
