Piano Trio,String Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.1004151 Composed by Matthew Scott Phillips. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 9 pages. Matthew Scott Phillips #3510887. Published by Matthew Scott Phillips (A0.1004151). Throughout the centuries, sundials (a flat plate that marks the time of the day by the shadow of a gnomon which is cast onto it) have been used by civilizations to tell time. Unlike modern clocks and digital watches, in which every single second has its own momentary significance, telling time by sundial is more evolutionary. The seconds, and hours, melt into one another. It is perhaps for this reason that sundials have often been conceived not only as practical time pieces, but as works of art, metaphors, and creations that are inherent expressions of the personality of their creators. Etched in many sundials across the world, in Latin, English, German, and other languages are often found mottoes that reflect the thoughts of the sundial's creator. These mottoes can be fatalistic, humorous, transient, morbid, or serene, and almost always involve the subjects of time, the passing of the hours, life and its brevity, or metaphors involving shadows. Many times these mottoes feature some witticism, such as I only count the sunny hours (since a shadow must be present for a sundial to function). Other times, they can be revealingly existential (We are but shadow), and other times offer advice (Use the hours, don't count them). It is these statements of philosophy, etched in sundials throughout the centuries, that most interests me. I am currently composing a set of movements for piano trio (Piano, Violin, Cello) dedicated to the mottoes found on sundials, and their significance to me. The first movement, subtitled Tempus Edax Rerum (Time devours things) is expansive and attempts a feeling of eternity, into which all seemingly fast moving workings of human beings are inevitably subsumed. For the second movement I am considering the phrase Pereunt et Imputantur (They pass and are counted referring to the hours of the day), and its implication of the way in which time can slip away, whether we observe it or not.

Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1151823 Composed by Frank Loesser. Arranged by James Pybus. Christmas,Holiday,Pop,Standards. 9 pages. James Pybus #752026. Published by James Pybus (A0.1151823). What Are You Doing New Year's Eve? is a popular song written in 1947 by Frank Loesser as an independent song. It was first recorded by Margaret Whiting in 1947 and first charted for The Orioles, peaking at No. 9 on Billboard's Best-Selling Retail Rhythm & Blues chart in December 1949. Although it is typically performed in December, that was not the composer's intent. In A Most Remarkable Fella: Frank Loesser and the Guys and Dolls in His Life, his daughter Susan Loesser explains that the singer, madly in love, is making a (possibly rash) commitment far into the future. (Maybe it's much too early in the game. Ah, but I thought I'd ask you just the same – What are you doing New Year's, New Year's Eve?) It always annoyed my father when the song was sung during the holidays. This SATB Saxophone Quartet arrangement begins with a quote from Dvorak's New World Symphony before proceeding into the rarely included verse of the song and ends with a quote from the popular song Auld Lang Syne written by Robert Burns, which is often heard on New Year's Eve. The saxophone quartet sound is sure to engage audiences in the spirit and sentiment of the song itself. The duration is 4:21. Contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com.

Soprano voice solo, SATB choir, and piano - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.56-0108-E Composed by Howard Goodall. Holy Week, Lent, Triduum/Three Days, Tenebrae. Score. 17 pages. Duration 6 minutes, 19 seconds. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #56-0108-E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.56-0108-E). English, Latin. Psalms 142; Jeremiah 3:48, 52, 56.Invictus: A Passion addresses one of the world’s most powerful stories through the lens of the modern world. The texts, written or inspired by women, describe not only human suffering and persecution but also the human capacity for love and humility in the face of tyranny. Composer Howard Goodall is uniquely suited to bring these texts to life with music of emotional clarity and sweeping force. This excerpt is scored for soprano solo, SATB choir and piano. This fourth movement of the larger work is inspired by the extraordinary story of Irena Sendler née Krzyżanowska, a Polish nurse and head of Å»egota, the Polish Council to Aid Jews in the Second World War, whose personal interventions saved the lives of approximately 2,500 Jewish children in the Warsaw Ghetto, smuggling them to safety, acts of humanitarian bravery that eventually caused her arrest and torture by the Gestapo. She is honoured as Righteous Amongst the Nations at Yad Vashem, Jerusalem. The Latin texts of this movement are taken from the Book of Lamentations (“My eye hath run down with streams of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people. My enemies have chased me and caught me like a bird, without cause…â€) and from Psalm 142, the Old Testament being the meeting-point of Sendler’s Catholicism and the Jewish tradition of those whose lives she saved. Duration 6:19.

Guitar - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: ZZ.DZ-4088 Composed by Louis Trépanier. Score. 9 pages. Les Productions d'OZ - Digital #DZ 4088. Published by Les Productions d'OZ - Digital (ZZ.DZ-4088). ISBN 9782898522055.August nights can be tinged with a bit of melancholy because the end of the summer approaches. The moon softly glows with nostalgia for a season passing us by. This mood seems to me folded into the Brazilian Bossa Nova, and the Brazilians? term ?saudade?; in this piece I offer up my tribute to one of my favourite composers, Radamés Gnattali (1906-1988), who wrote for every musical situation in his era in Brazil ? from the concert stage to the back alley, and everything in between. Lua para Epilogo de Verão, is dedicated to the Brazilian guitarist Fabio Zanon, who is both a great friend and a tremendous inspiration. This étude tackles solid chords and contrary motion in the left hand, and, like all the études in this collection, voice separation and phrasing. In measure 24 the guitarist must execute a diagonal barré, where the first finger covers position IV at the first string, and position V at the fifth string, hence the V/IV indication after the barré symbol. The practicalities of navigating through the different chord shapes and rhythms in the piece mean that not all notes can be held for their full, written value. Such discrepancies between the text and the playing are common in this style of music.

Violin Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845988 By Van Halen. By Alex Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, and Michael Anthony. Arranged by Kyle Pudenz. Metal,Rock. 3 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #6332317. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845988). One of the most iconic guitar solos of all time, written by one of the most influential guitarists in history, and now arranged for violin!!As a violinist who has extensively studied both the classical & rock genres, I made it my goal to be as faithful to EVH's original performance as possible, while also making this version more adaptable to the different virtuosic techniques available to violinists. We may not be able to tap out those signature arpeggios with 2 hands, but arpeggiating them with the bow creates a similar texture with a distinctly more violin-friendly approach! I've also used octave transpositions and re-voiced some of the chords to make them more adaptable to the violin's range without feeling chopped up.The result: a fresh take on this timeless solo that can be performed on any standard violin. No need for extra strings or electronics (though I'll admit, it will probably sound pretty awesome on an electric violin...) and no need to re-tune your instrument. This version is written a half-step higher than the original recording in concert A. If you want to match the original key of the Van Halen recording (Ab), you can tune a half-step down like Eddie does, and just read this chart exactly as written.Whether you're looking for a new encore or intro for your next solo performance, or just want to learn a few new licks from one of the greatest rock n' roll musicians of all time, this tune is a fantastic addition to the repertoire of any violinist looking to reach a bit beyond the norms of the classical tradition!Performance time: approximately 1:50 (the tapping section feels better at a slightly slower tempo on violin)Enjoy the chart, and if you have questions, comments or suggestions, you can contact me via my website www.kylepudenz.com/ or on Instagram @theviolinvagabond

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.991908 Composed by Sebastian Temple. Arranged by Kelvyn Koning. Gospel,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 12 pages. Kelvyn Koning #3556857. Published by Kelvyn Koning (A0.991908). Prayer of Saint Francis is based on the hymn Make Me a Channel of Your Peace by Sebastian Temple, which uses text from a prayer written by Saint Francis of Assisi. Part of the inspiration for the piece comes from Madison CRC, a church I belonged to and worked in for about five years, which was focused on interracial development and combating racism. It is often clear to a person who has belonged to any group of people (for example, a multi-racial church or a choir), that it takes a lot of effort for different people to unite harmoniously to achieve something greater than what any lone person could accomplish. This song is a prayer about unity, about peace between people who are different from each other. Different, in this case, refers to every sort of difference, whether in race, ethnicity, background, social class, gender, sexuality, age, religion, politics, personality, preferences, musical ability, etc. This piece includes different musical styles working in tandem, thus illustrating that differences can work together to create beauty and harmony. Though written by Christians, this is not just a prayer for Christians, but for all of us, that we may treat those around us with love, care, and respect, thus bringing peace to our communities, both locally and globally. I am honored to have had this piece premiered by the Berkshire Choral Apprentices of 2018 at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1164155 Composed by Kevin Frecker. A Cappella,Chamber,Comedy. Octavo. 5 pages. Kevin Frecker #764211. Published by Kevin Frecker (A0.1164155). The Owl and the Pussycat is a nonsense poem written by Edward Lear in 1870. It takes me back to my late teens and early twenties when I would recite this poem with my 2 sisters. They would take the parts of the Narrator, the Owl, and the Pussycat. That would leave me with two words, the most important line in the poem, the Piggy-wig's line I will. Without this one line, the goal of the poem cannot be achieved - the marriage between the Owl and the Pussycat.Since this is a nonsense poem, the tempo and dynamic variations can be exaggerated to bring out the humor in the text. This setting is most ideal for an ensemble of soloists, but it could also be performed by an SAB choir with soloists for the parts of the Owl, the Pussycat, and the Piggy-wig. Happy singing!
