But a few works are not as genius in my humble opinion. One of these less wonderful songs is Wonderful Christmastime although it is sounding out of every speaker during christmas holidays. So I tried to give it a different feeling. What about sounding jazzy in a silent, sentimental mood? So I found out the core of the composing is nice and genius, it's only the sound of the production which gave me a bitter taste. Purist composers may find some parallel fourths, but that's Jazz! The arrangement is written for more ambitious a cappella singers as it is packed with chromatic lines in the style of Kirby Shaw or other jazzy arrangers. Enjoy!

When I figured out what the tune was, I was driven to arrange it for our quintet. The result is at least good for one illustration: If you thought you needed drums for calypso or Latin, think again. Horns work pretty well.Jazz tenor sax great Sonny Rollins wrote this, mostly as a vehicle for improvisation. It's based on a Bahamian folk melody called Sponger Money, which may or may not be based on a British folk song called The Lincolnshire Poacher. Whatever the case, it's a variation on a song Rollins' mother sang to him when he was a child in the Virgin Islands.This arrangement -- not as easy to play as it looks, because of the rhythms -- is for two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba. My arrangements there are cheaper and most of the revenue will go to the arranger (me) instead of sheet music plus.This is great for high school, university students and professionals. It's not too hard, but beginners beware, it's a bit beyond basic entry level horn playing. There are not a lot of horn arrangements out there like this one. This arrangement helps fill a niche for small ensemble in that horn quartet music typically lacks repertoire in most contemporary and jazz genres.If you're reading this in the future, this was one of the most popular songs of the year 2020! This arrangement is my take on it for quartet, semi-faithful to the original song with a bit of a jazzy twist. Score, parts and cover arts included. The composer of the music,  John Lunn, won two Primetime Emmys for the hauntingly beautiful score. I have arranged this wonderful piece for other solo players and piano, as well as for string quartet/string orchestra. The 30 sec clip is done on Sibelius software as I have not yet been able to record this piece live, but if you search my Youtube Channel, Skinny Black Dogs, Capriccio Quartet, Downton Abbey, you can see and hear the live version. The harmony and structure is exactly the same. I have chosen a key for bassoon that would be suitable for ABRSM Grade 2 and above. At bar 16 however, the the pianist picks up the end of the phrase from the bassoon, so you could miss out the last beat entirely if it is too difficult. Make sure that you grow through the phrases with your pianist. It is a piece that requires a great deal of ebb and flow with lots of crescendo and diminuendo throughout for you to feel together! I knew it would be this sort of style but it look some time for a melody to come to me. Eventually, this came to mind while playing the game Child of Light. The music of that game undoubtedly influenced this piece, and so it's named in honour of the title character, Aurora, and the whole premise of the game is that she is in a dream, so there you go. Not an amazingly inspired title, but hopefully you will enjoy the piece!
