Solo Guitar - Digital Download SKU: A0.1364971 By Christopher J. Malin. By Christopher J. Malin. Arranged by Christopher J. Malin. 20th Century,Blues,Contemporary,Jazz,Pop. Individual part. 1 pages. Christopher J. Malin #949269. Published by Christopher J. Malin (A0.1364971). My first original work written out in standard notation and tablature. Originally written in 2017 and played out many times. I had help correcting some of the note value/rest timing. It's correct and meant to be played as written now. Please pay close attension to the rest values. It gives the music a breathing feel if you will.I would call it my personel musical language. The title comes from me asking a pro highly respected local musician, which is the saddest key to play in? He said D minor, hense the name. Of course it could be transposed to any key. Also my tablature is the way it evolved while playing it. I feel particularly, that the turn-around sounds best played in tha 5th fret position. It was written as a solo guitar piece but it could be the head for any minor key blues played with other musicians. I hope you will enjoy it. I certainly do! Thank you!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.887281 Composed by Michelle Willis. A Cappella,Contemporary. Octavo. 10 pages. Teton Music #5033147. Published by Teton Music (A0.887281). SATB, a cappellaWritten for the Early Light Academy Spotlight Singers (South Jordan, UT) and taken from actual responses from the students they were asked, when people look at you, what do you want them to see? This song is intended to be a very personal expression for the singers as well as for the audience.Text:I see: eyes and a face, hands and feetYou see: the sameI see: tears and a smile, working, movingYou see: the sameI see: pain, joy, strength, enduranceYou see, you think you see-but you can’t name it.I see you, please see me.When you look at me, see a person who isn’t afraid to be-- just be.I am tall or I am small, but I am happy to be me.I may be confident or meek, I may be really strong or weak,And if it changes week to week, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you see me.When you listen, notice that my voice may sometimes raise the roofAnd other times it may seem aloof when I cannot find the proofOf what is truth and what is fair, but listen ‘til you hear me shareAnd know deep down I really care, because it matters. It matters that you see me.I see: someone who is strong and kind, someone who knows their mind, Someone who struggles just like me, but keeps fighting endlesslyI see you, please see me.I see: a soul who fin’ly knows I’m hereAnd doesn’t judge if I bow down to smallish fearsYou see me, and I see you, there’s nothing greater we can doThan to acknowledge we’re all trav’ling down this road,But not alone. It matters-That I see you-and you see me.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1435089 Composed by Stanley M Hoffman. 21st Century,Classical,Opera. Score. 48 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #1015189. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.1435089). Opera Scenes 1. At the Clothing Department (3:00); 2. To Get a Ration (9:00) - vocal soloists & piano or chamber ensemble (cl, bn, tpt, tbn, perc, vln, vc) with live or prerecorded crowd noise - 2021, 2024. The libretto is comprised of the insightful observations of a young Jewish boy—Abraham “Abramek” Koplowicz—who was trapped by the Nazis in the Lodz ghetto and who later died in Auschwitz. The libretto appears before each scene in the scores. This may be a relatively brief piece, but it is a major one for me and posthumously for the author. I am fortunate to be the only person given blanket gratis permission to set the words of Abraham Koplowicz to music. He composed a book of poetry, plays, and artwork while imprisoned in the Lodz Ghetto before perishing later in Auschwitz before he could become a Bar Mitzvah. The contents of that book are quite good, sophisticated for his age. Abraham's late half-brother, Eliezer Grynfeld—who found the book in the 1990s—and I eventually became good friends. The Pope once kissed Eliezer's hand. That is how highly regarded this collection is and, by some stroke of luck or fate, I have got exclusive musical rights to the book until it enters the public domain. In my settings of AT THE CLOTHING DEPARTMENT and TO GET A RATION, I combine the musical language of Schoenberg's A SURVIVOR FROM WARSAW very nearly with the instrumentation of Stravinsky's A SOLDIER'S TALE - only the percussion instruments differ. The musical language of these brief opera scenes is appropriately terse, very much in keeping with the oppressiveness of imprisonment. Please have a look and a listen. Thank you for your consideration. ---Words originally in Polish by Abraham (“Abramek”) Koplowicz (b. 1930, Lodz, Poland, d. 1944, Auschwitz-Birkenau) Translation by Sarah Lawson and Ma?gorzata Koraszewska Adapted by Stanley M. Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314698 Composed by Richard Hirsch. Instructional. Educational Exercises. 8 pages. Richard Hirsch #903442. Published by Richard Hirsch (A0.1314698). Many amateur guitarists and beginning students of guitar are ‘stuck in the first position’. The rest of the fretboard is ‘terra incognita’. They don’t know where the notes are and they don’t know how to get to them and use them in playing melodies. To help remedy this situation, I offer a collection of scales and exercises I have developed over the years that have helped me master the fretboard of the guitar and that I have used to warm up my left and right hands before practicing or playing proper pieces. Guitarists afraid to move up the fretboard miss out on all the tonal nuances that the guitar has to offer. They also often have undeveloped left hand technique with a little finger that flies around helplessly and uselessly. These scales and exercises will, if played regularly, put the little finger to good use and guide the left hand to orient to the fretboard properly, staying close to the fretboard with fingers that move as little and as efficiently as possible. They are also relaxing and fun to play around with. I read somewhere a while back that medical science had found that pianists were less likely to develop brain diseases. The scientists attributed this to the many hours pianists spend playing scales, as this is like a gentle brain massage. So scales are not only good warm up exercises for the fingers but also good warm-ups for the brain. The scale exercises written here in the keys of G and C should be played in different keys in higher positions on the fretboard. Students can try to see just how far up the neck they can go to reach the highest notes. After a while, what seemed challenging and strange will start to feel comfortable and familiar. Don’t hesitate to develop new variants of the scales when you grow tired of playing them as I propose here. Have fun playing and playing with the scales! The exercises often start in one position and move toward other higher or lower positions on the fretboard. When moving from one position to another, follow the suggested fingerings to utilise what is called a lead finger to move the hand to the next position. This will make the movement smooth and not interrupt the flow of the scale. In the end all movement should look and feel seamless and effortless.I have chosen scales in major keys I think are particularly good to play on the guitar. To practice a scale in a minor key, start the exercise in the related major key from the fundamental of the minor key, for example, to play an E minor scale start the G major exercise on an E and play from there. This is one way of creating new variants of these scales. Another way to vary the exercises is to play the scales in different time signatures or rhythms.I believe these exercises are particularly helpful for amateur guitarists who play in ensembles of different kinds, duos, trios, quartets, where the guitarist often only has one melodic line to play. Such melodies often sound much better played in higher positions where the guitar can be made to sing, rather than in the first position where the same tones, especially on open strings, often sound rather dull. From my own experience, I find that when I play a melody in a higher position using all the fingers of the left hand, the melody not only sounds better, the fingers remember the melody better.

Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.924516 By Joe Cocker. By Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher. Arranged by John Rodney Ferguson. Pop,Rock. Guitar Tab. 9 pages. John Ferguson #3577921. Published by John Ferguson (A0.924516). Guitar tablature and vocals for Joe Cocker’s acoustic version of ’You Are So Beautiful’ from his album ‘Organic’ released in October of 1996. This was Cocker’s second version of the song as he had previously released a version with piano accompaniment in January 1975. Billy Preston wrote You Are So Beautiful with one of his regular collaborators, Bruce Fischer. The song was first released in 1974 on Preston’s album ‘The Kids and Me.’ Some commentators say that Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys also contributed to the song's genesis. Wilson performed the song live with the Beach Boys from the late 1970s onwards.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869118 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Latin. Score and parts. 16 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #1914305. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869118). Morango ... almost a tango (1983) is the most popular piece of music from my portfolio of over 150 works!!! It is amazing that the work was conceived thirty years ago!!! Originally, it was just a 32-bar jazz tune I performed every Sunday night with the Moon Unit at the 1369 Jazz Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1980-1984. The string quartet version, although written for the Kronos Quartet, was premiered at Concert X by the Composers in Red Sneakers in Sanders Theater, Cambridge, Massachusetts, on July 21, 1983. The Red Sneakers String Quartet comprised of Thal Aylward, Melissa Howe, Frank Grimes and Sandy Kiefer. Richard Buell reported in the Boston Globe a few days later that the doleful Morango ... almost a tango got a lot of mileage out of a stubborn, almost unchanging cello line and the elaborations above it. The original program note read, Last summer in Vermont I met Gustavo Moretto, an Argentine composer, who taught me the finer and more beautiful aspects of the Tango. In my modest way, as someone looking in from the outside, I created Morango ... almost a tango - a bastardized version of the 'real thing.' Morango ... is also intrinsically connected to Kate Moran, a sometimes painter ... to whom it is dedicated. The work is played con sordino throughout. I hope the sirens next door don't intrude too much. But then again, John Cage would be delighted. Eventually, the Kronos got around to performing it on tour in Europe in 1986. When they played it as an encore in Italy at the American Academy in Rome, Mya Tannenbaum of the Corriere Della Sera wrote, Non sono mancati i bis. Un richiamo al sex appeal del vecchio tango da parte di un giovane «premio Roma», Tom Lee. Soon after, back in the States, the Kronos performed it at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York. John Rockwell wrote in the New York Times, ... a soulfully beautiful score by Thomas Oboe Lee. Three months later the Kronos recorded it on their Nonesuch CD, White Man Sleeps. Many other string quartets, both here and abroad, have since added the work to their repertory. The Lydian String Quartet, especially, have taken the work on their concert tours in the United States, Europe and the former Soviet Union. It appears on a CD recorded by the Lyds in Moscow on MCA Classics. As interest in the work grew, other ensembles have requested arrangements of Morango ... There are now three other versions of the work: one for big band jazz ensemble by Ken Schaphorst, another for string orchestra commissioned by Aram Gharabekian and Sinfonova, and the third for violin and piano commissioned by the Paul Chou-Paul Salerni Duo. Of the string orchestra version, Richard Dyer of the Boston Globe wrote, Lee's piece, Morango ... almost a tango, is a transcription of atmospheric and elegant music originally composed for string quartet; it is as sultry as Faith Domergue in a film noir, and it steams. Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1048353 By Ray Charles. By Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell. Arranged by Dan Jones (www.danjonesguitarist.com). Blues,Jazz. Guitar Tab. 6 pages. DanJonesGuitarist #652787. Published by DanJonesGuitarist (A0.1048353). This classic song was composed in 1930 and has become best associated with the single by Ray Charles, recorded in 1960. Ray Charles’ version reached number 1 in the Billboard chart that same year. My solo arrangement is designed for more experienced players. This download gives you a version with just notes and a second with notes and TAB. Both versions also have chord symbols in case players wish to improvise around the sequence. Writers have speculated that the song was written about Carmichael’s sister, named Georgia, but the writer himself state it was inspired by the US state. In 1979 the song was officially designated as the State Song of Georgia. It is perhaps this ambiguity and possible double-meaning of the lyric which make it so alluring. I was introduced to Georgia by a primary school music teacher in the 1970’s. I remember it having a profound impact on me as a child. It is for this reason that I love to play this version for audiences. I usually play the piece from a lead sheet to allow freedom for improvisation, but I felt a published ‘concert’ version may be useful for other players. For a huge range of scores for solo guitar and guitar in ensemble at all levels of learning, please visit www.danjonesguitarist.com A YouTube recording and film will be uploaded before the end of July 2022.
