Cello,Cembalo,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1224544 Composed by Jose Bravo. Baroque,Chamber,Classical,Early Music. 107 pages. Jose Bravo #820650. Published by Jose Bravo (A0.1224544). From the Composer:I committed last year (2022) to review my musical works that have been in digital storage, complete them as necessary, and release them for the world to hear. I finally finished my first work on this list, one that's been on my hard drive in one version or another since 1999 (that's 24 whole years!).Las Follias de España (which despite its name, originally came from Portugal) is a chord progression usually in either D minor or G minor in the form of i-V-i-VII-III-VII-i-V. Composers for the last 500 years have used this chord progression to come up with some fantastic theme and variations, ranging from unaccompanied works, trio sonatas, to even full orchestral implementations. You can spend a looooong time listening to all the beautiful compositions that composers have made over the centuries highlighting this very captivating set of chords.I humbly submit my own version of La Folia in D minor for String Trio and Cembalo (harpsichord). I wrote my first version of this in my senior year of High School as a challenge to myself to write music in a genre I loved. I made updates here and there over the years, but its sat on a hard drive the entire time. It's taken me months to essentially rework it to my satisfaction and has been submitted for copyright. I have uploaded it to YouTube to share with others.BIG SHOUT OUTS to the three composers that inspired me in this work:Corelli: - His version of La Folia is probably the most popular for violinists, especially those that play out of the Suzuki books. I included a modified version of his Folia (Variation 9) in my work (with all other parts being vastly different from his interpretation) as an homage to his work.J.S. Bach - He showed me that music can be as intelligent as it is beautiful. I have two variations inspired by his work. Variation 8 is one that I wrote this year (2023) which I wanted to write for a long time is a variation that showcases the Harpsichord. Bach's keyboard works and unaccompanied violin works inspired me here. Second, Variation 14 I feel has Bach's inspiration all over it. The violin parts are each playing separate distinct melodies in double counterpoint which trade parts on the repeat. The bass line follows a pattern that Bach has employed for the bass on a number of Violin concertos and lastly, the Harpsichord treble part is a mensuration canon based on one of the violin parts, with the keyboard part playing the melody 4x as fast with variations. Lastly on a play of numbers, number 14 was a very special number for Bach, and as a tribute, I've made this the 14th variation in my work. This was also a new variation I added this year (2023) as well.Vivaldi - My first musical love. I feel that I captured a little bit of his musical DNA in all my works and this piece showcases this. Vivaldi's works is what made me fall in love with Baroque music and I am indebted to him for the profound impact his works have had on my life.So here you go. 413 measures. My longest individual work to date. And because I love playing with numbers, I decided to release this to the world on my 41st Year, 3rd month. Enjoy!-  Jose Bravo.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719523 Composed by Curtis Hanson. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 59 pages. Curtis Hanson #2032867. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719523). The Missa Millennia was composed during the spring of 2000 and premiered the following November by the choirs of the John Duss Music Conservatory, Duluth, MN. Scored for a chamber orchestra of strings, keyboard, and solo oboe (full score and instrumental parts available separately), the work is not so much a celebration of the new millennium as it is an assimilation of many of the musical styles, characteristics, and forms of the previous thousand years. The entire piece is in the form of the traditional Mass, a musical form having its origins in the Middle Ages, and is divided into the five movements commonly found in the Mass Ordinary: Kyrie (Lord, have mercy), Gloria (Glory to God in the highest), Credo (the Nicene Creed), Sanctus – Benedictus (Holy, holy, holy – Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord), and Agnus Dei (Lamb of God). In the final movement, the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi (Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace) concludes the work. Although the Missa Millennia as a whole is distinctly contemporary, elements from many earlier musical periods are incorporated into the movements. These include chant, open fifth and parallel fifth harmonic movement (organum), and canonic imitation from the Middle Ages and Renaissance; fugue, word-painting, terraced dynamics, ostinato (a repeated rhythmic or bass accompaniment), Alberti bass accompaniment figures, ABA form, and dominant-tonic harmonic relationships typical of Baroque and Classical music to name but a few. Other significant features are the usage of non-Western modality in the plaintive solo oboe and of pedal point, a sustained tone in the bass over which the melody and harmony evolve. Pedal point, a compositional tool used throughout music history, dates from the Middle Ages about the time of St. Francis. Although not directly based upon the music of any composer, the astute listener may hear musical ideas reminiscent of Vivaldi, Vaughan Williams, Respighi, Duruflé, and others. In the audio file, the 2nd movement (Gloria) can be found at approximately 6'25, the 3rd movement (Credo) at 12'05, the 4th movement (Sanctus) at 21'15, and the final movement (Agnus Dei) at 31'05. The complete Mass is approximately 43 minutes long.

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1074008 By Arkady Leytush. By Erik Satie. Arranged by Arkady Leytush. 20th Century. Score and parts. 23 pages. Arkady Leytush #678276. Published by Arkady Leytush (A0.1074008). E. Satie – Heures Séculaires et Instantanées, 1914, Orchestra suite 1. Obstacles venimeux 2. Crepuscule matinal 3. Affolments granitiques Duration about 4 minutes. Heures Séculaires et Instantanées (Hallowed by Time and Instant Hours), one of his humorous keyboard suites from the 1910s, contains Satie's famous warning to pianists against reading aloud the fanciful texts that adorned his score. Sati warns against reading aloud the texts written on his scores. This is the secret between the performer and the composer. “There are as many words as there are notes!†says the French composer-critic Guy Sacré. Biographer Rollo H. Myers saw Heures as an omen of surrealism (ten years before the fact) and a new phase in the relationship between text and music. “... For the first time, individual verbal witticisms and witticisms are replaced by something like a recitation or monologue, which is an integral part of the work: this is no longer a cursory comment, arbitrarily superimposed and often not related to the music that it accompanies, but a certain narrative, grotesque inspiration, which the music serves as an illustration. In addition to what has been said, I would like to add that being one of the first minimalists in modern music, Sati opens a new page in the combination of musical images and examples of abstract vision and imagination inspired by music with his illustrative texts in this humorous suite. This approach to composition soon led to the emergence of striking examples of the combination of music and animation. This short suite, full of humor and ingenuity, moved me when arranging to also emphasize this feature by choosing the full composition of the orchestra, where in each number of this suite the musicians of the orchestra play only a few notes in turn. On the one hand, this should bring great variety and contrast, on the other hand, a huge orchestra and a 4-minute suite in themselves cause a smile of inconsistency...

Alto Voice,Cello,Marimba,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1415470 By Ludovic SELMI. By Ludovic SELMI. 21st Century,Contemporary. 103 pages. D-Project Co., Ltd. #997204. Published by D-Project Co., Ltd. (A0.1415470). This is a piece for string quartet and marimba. The marimba is not a soloist but integrated into the ensemble. It's an instrument that resonates the wood directly, whereas string instruments make it vibrate. It's this blend that interested me.As for the piece itself, I started with cells, melodic melismas that I repeat, which transform like a sort of gigantic metamorphosis. There's a brilliant section in the middle, which is a bit like lace, organic and more raw than at the beginning. For the finale, the strings continuously vibrate open strings to give the impression of an orchestra tuning.

Saxophone quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.764661 Composed by Ruggero Leoncavallo (1857-1919). Arranged by James Pybus. Opera,Romantic Period. 10 pages. James Pybus #37123. Published by James Pybus (A0.764661). Vesti la giubba (Put on the costume) is a famous tenor aria from Ruggero Leoncavallo's 1892 opera I Pagliacci. Vesti la giubba is sung at the conclusion of the first act, when Canio discovers his wife's infidelity, but must nevertheless prepare for his performance as Pagliaccio the clown because The show must go on. The aria is often regarded as one of the most moving in the operatic repertoire of the time. The pain of Canio is portrayed in the aria and exemplifies the entire notion of the tragic clown: smiling on the outside but crying on the inside. This is still displayed today, as the clown motif often features the painted-on tear running down the cheek of the performer. The 1904 recording by Enrico Caruso was the first million-selling record in history. This aria is often used in popular culture and has been featured in many renditions, mentions, and spoofs. In this arrangement for SATB Saxophone Quartet written in 2013, the original key has been transposed to a more saxophone-friendly key. The tenor saxophone is featured. Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.744621 Composed by Elena Fortin. Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Elena Fortin #4717595. Published by Elena Fortin (A0.744621). Hidden Pathways for Piano SoloI have always loved the poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. It started me on the following thought process: What if you had the chance to wander through some woods and you happened to discover a hidden path. What would happen if you followed it? Maybe you would find an amazing, enchanted place that you would want to visit and re-visit again and again. Hidden Pathways is written in D-flat major–which sounds like a challenging key–it has five flats! But for some reason, D-flat sounds really enchanting to me. And it seems to fit the hands really well too! The piece could probably be classified as Neo-classical or New-Age Instrumental. I never know how to classify these things. The piece explores the whole range of the piano and the challenge is to play this piece with sensitive pedaling and expressiveness. It is a suitable solo for recitals, church settings, or your own personal enjoyment.I hope you enjoy it!Please visit my website: www.the-piano-studio.com or subscribe to my YouTube Channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFOzbMUgcFWlmG-nfHOT_Zg

I just had time to learn it and play it at a concert before she went back to Russia. I've scanned the web for this sheet music / song / youtube video / literally anything about it never went anywhere. Finally, I was able to transcribe the very faded copy my teacher had given me years before, and was able to play it again. I am not planning to record myself playing it but it is doable if need be / requested.Happy Playing!

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031802 Composed by Dimitri Roussopoulos. Contemporary. Score. 10 pages. Dr.Creative #3569773. Published by Dr.Creative (A0.1031802). First of all, let me thank you for taking the time to look at this little song I wrote. Although it is not a very big composition, it is definitely one of my favorites. It was originally written for tenor and piano, but please feel free to adapt it for any voice. You can hear it here: https://youtu.be/OYsXigQ1R7w It can be sung by male or female voices because the sentiment it expresses is one that I think we can all identify with: being in love or totally captivated with someone or something which seems so much higher, brighter, purer, and more lovely than ourselves and hoping, against all odds, they might notice us and feel something other than pity or revulsion. This song springs from that secret and tender spot in our human hearts which so often, like a millipede, curls up in a ball to protect itself when poked at and prodded by others. If you sing this song, don’t worry about singing it well. Try sing it honestly, instead. And, no matter how dark it may seem, I hope your heart will find some comfort in the company of this little millipede and the bright moon which shines above us. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time on dimitri.roussopoulos@gmail.com should you have any questions.Duration: about 4min 21sec

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1028053 Composed by Sarah Hersh. 20th Century,Contemporary. 14 pages. Burbury Lane Music #4276953. Published by Burbury Lane Music (A0.1028053). No clarinet duet has made me stop in rehearsal and just smile so much from how cool things sounded. - Marcus Moore, clarinetist on Duo MpingoDuo Mpingo is an approximately 6 minute crowd pleaser that is perfect for any occasion. It is a modern but accessible piece that is loosely based on the lifecycle of a mpingo, or African blackwood, tree. It is a relatively advanced piece but could be performed by advanced level students. Duo Mpingo can be programmed equally well on environmental-themed or any other type of concert.Program Note: When I began to research the mpingo (African blackwood) tree in preparation for writing this piece, I came to learn that it is a fascinating tree. It has the ability to survive fires, it does not reach maturity for about 70 – 100 years, and it improves soil fertility. However, it is endangered in several African countries due to illegal logging and over-harvesting, in part because of its beautiful dark heartwood. The outside of the mpingo tree looks like any other tree with a light brown color; the inside, however, is a gorgeous, dark brown-black color – a color you have seen if you’ve ever seen a clarinet, as clarinets, along with other western instruments, are made out of the dark heartwood of the mpingo tree. I had never stopped to think about why wooden clarinets have such a dark color instead of what one typically thinks of as a wood color. I was astonished by the hidden beauty of this tree and what secrets lay inside.Duo Mpingo is somewhat programmatic in that it loosely chronicles the imagined life of a mpingo tree. There is a short section close to the middle of the piece (the inner part of the piece, if you will) that is meant to evoke the beautiful, mysterious, endangered dark heartwood of the mpingo tree. The direction to the performers for this section is solemn, prayer-like, reverential, which is how I feel we should look at every tree – not as something in our way that needs to be cut down, but with reverence for the amazing living things they are.Duo Mpingo was commissioned and premiered by Daraja Music Initiative and Clarinets for Conservation to promote a sustainable planet. This recording is by members of Terminus Ensemble, Marcus Moore and Lauren Murphy. To hear the entire piece, please visit www.sarahhersh.com.The composer is a member of ASCAP and may be reached at www.sarahhersh.com or sarahhershcomposer@gmail.com.
