Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.833865 By Chicago. By Robert Lamm. Arranged by Michael Compton. Pop,Rock. 16 pages. Kreechur Kumfort Publishing #6448459. Published by Kreechur Kumfort Publishing (A0.833865). Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? is a song that was included on Chicago's 1969 debut album Chicago Transit Authority and released as a single in 1970. According to composer Robert Lamm, it was the first song recorded for the album. The song was not released as a single until two tracks from the band's second album, Make Me Smile and 25 or 6 to 4, had become hits. It reached No. 7 in the U.S. and No. 2 in Canada. Said Lamm: [It's] not a complicated song, but it’s certainly a quirky song. But that was my intent. I wanted to write something that wasn’t ordinary, that wasn’t blues-based, that didn’t have ice cream changes, and would allow the horns to shine and give Lee Loughnane a solo. This arrangement is for saxophone quintet (soprano, alto, two tenors, and baritone) and the melody is passed around the ensemble a bit. The arrangement is suitable for intermediate level players.

John van Gulik #839583. Published by John van Gulik (A0.1244630). A moving remembrance of the young lives sacrificed in the First and Second World Wars defending our freedom. This is a setting to an original text by John van Gulik arranged for men's choir. The leaves on the ground are all broken and grayTheir color has gone taking glory awayOnset of winter will bury them allSuch is the season, the season of fall   Leaves of autumn, leaves of the fall   Millions of discarded parts of us all   Time will forget them, forget them it will   And yet they have fallen... The season of fallThe dead all all gone, we remember them stillLives given freely, buried under a hillResting in fields where the red poppies growMarkings are fading for those down belowCold sleeping life lays under the snowSlumbering gently while winter winds blowWaiting for springtime to finally comeMelting the cover, at last feel the sunVisions of future beyond paths of warHope that the world will see it no moreThe dead are not gone, just sleeping awayTo rise once again on that last dayLess now remembered except once a yearMemories are fading to soon disappearResting and waiting beneath the sodForgotten by living but still known to GodFor additional parts, accompaniment track, or other arrangements, contact me at vangulik.john@gmail.com or visit my website at https://jvgmusiconline.com.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.749235 By Slade. By James Lea, Jim Lea, and Neville Holder. Arranged by HELEN MARPLE-HORVAT. Contemporary. Score and parts. 15 pages. Helen Marple-Horvat #6134105. Published by Helen Marple-Horvat (A0.749235). youtube.com/watch?v=b74tCHtcmFM‘Merry Christmas Everybody' is a major hit in the UK, and the familiar song heralds the festive season with all the ‘feel good’ emotions that come with it. We hear it in shops, supermarkets, and radio stations all over the country for the weeks in the run up to the celebrations, as it is part of a popular compilation of hits. It was a Christmas number one in 1973 and stayed there for nine weeks. Although it was recorded in New York it is not so well known in the USA which is a surprise to me. I have always loved it because of the unusual chord progressions at the end of the Chorus, and because Noddy Holder is from the West Midlands where I was born and bred. We don’t have too many famous people from around there! It is important to keep a steady tempo but it doesn’t need to be as fast as the original (120 bpm) However It *is* in the same key as the original and follows the structure exactly, so it may be possible to play along with it before coming to rehearsal, which is always helpful. It is useful to feel the syncopation that way. We planned to record this last March but that was before Lockdown! The tune is shared between first violin, viola and cello. The second violinist needs to keep a rock steady pulse. Although it is suitable for a professional quartet to play, and the first violinist often plays the tune up an octave, I feel that it is easy enough for a quartet of Grade 5 ABRSM to play with a few modifications such as playing open strings. The cellist will need to be able to play in fourth position and to stretch for the F sharps on the C string, but feel free to change the octaves or use pizzicato in the bass part if it makes things easier. The bowing is a guide only, based on the rehearsal with Capriccio Quartet, so all players should take as many bows as they need in order to feel comfortable. Enjoy playing the piece and send me any recordings on Facebook. I love to hear from people who have played my arrangements. You can hear Capriccio Quartet play my other arrangements at the Youtube Channel, Helen Marple-Horvat Songwriter, Arranger, Composer, Capriccio Quartet. Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1012016 Composed by Benjamin Amos. Contemporary. Score. 8 pages. Benjamin Amos #3531933. Published by Benjamin Amos (A0.1012016). Springtime is a bright and optimistic piece that makes me smile every time I play it. Written in a very loosely defined A-B-A form, Springtime has a beautiful reoccurring theme of gratefulness which F# Major sings out to its fullest. A great piece for performance and for fun! With very few accidentals, the music score is challenging but mostly straight forward within the time signature: the biggest challenges are mainly overcoming the key of F# Major and the occasional variations in time signature. Springtime is 8 pages and about 3 minutes played up to tempo. A few additional musical theory notes to mention: Springtime is written in 6/8 (and 4/4 during the B section) for most of the piece; however, rhythmical variations in beat also occur throughout the piece which add neat additional layers-- specifically, time signatures 10/8 (grouped 123 123 12 12 etc.) and 8/8 (grouped 123 123 12 etc.).

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1402356 Composed by Ron Goodwin. Arranged by Chris Siddall. Film/TV. 33 pages. Chris Siddall Music Publishing #985569. Published by Chris Siddall Music Publishing (A0.1402356). While his scores for both 633 Squadron (1963) and Operation Crossbow (1965) had boasted patriotic, major-key themes celebrating the heroics of the protagonists, composer Ron Goodwin took a different approach for Where Eagles Dare, generating his main theme for the picture out of the initial notes of an ascending minor scale. Rather than celebrate the heroics of the screen characters, the title music embodies the single-minded ambition of the protagonists to infiltrate the mountain fortress of Schloss Adler and complete their mission, no matter what the costs. The composer recalled in a 1994 interview that some of this approach came from the filmâ??s director, Brian Hutton. For instance, he wanted music at the beginning of the film but he also wanted to hear the airplane engines approaching from the distance, which is actually why he started off with just the side drums playing quietly and then building up and getting louder, so that you could actually hear the sound of the airplane before the orchestra comes in. After the snare drum and the â??Aâ? section of the main title comes a melodically related fugal section that, the composer told Randall D. Larson in 1984, was an idea that arose from the â??concept of people following each other around and dodging away from each other...[which] gave me the idea of writing a sort of fugue-style theme...and then I used that in various ways for all the sort of creeping and following and chasing that was going on throughout the film.â?Created from the original manuscript, this release offers a rare opportunity to study film music in its authentic, original orchestration and arrangement. An opportunity not to be missed!

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.744630 Arranged by Arranged by Elena Fortin. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred,Spiritual. Score. 4 pages. Elena Fortin #6082835. Published by Elena Fortin (A0.744630). Amazing Grace - Intermediate piano solo Arranged by Elena FortinLately, I have been working on arrangements and videos of songs that I consider to be important either in the way they touch listeners, in how they are used, or if they have stood the test of time.Amazing Grace is a beautiful, traditional hymn with well-known lyrics penned by John Newton. The original hymn was published in 1779, with the words written in 1772. This piece is one of those songs that can be used for many different reasons. It is used in worship services, as a hymn of praise and faith, as celebration of life lived, and as a prayer of thanksgiving.  My arrangement is for the intermediate player. The arrangement is simple, but should be played expressively. Each repetition of the hymn is slightly different, with the second repetition using the harmonic structure but introducing a new invented melody by me. (You can hum the melodic line of Amazing Grace over the top of this second repetition and you'll see what I mean!) The very last repetition is played allargando which means slightly slower, and more broadly. Enjoy those left hand octave notes and full chords! Cello,Cembalo,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1224544 Composed by Jose Bravo. Baroque,Chamber,Classical,Early Music. 107 pages. Jose Bravo #820650. Published by Jose Bravo (A0.1224544). From the Composer:I committed last year (2022) to review my musical works that have been in digital storage, complete them as necessary, and release them for the world to hear. I finally finished my first work on this list, one that's been on my hard drive in one version or another since 1999 (that's 24 whole years!).Las Follias de España (which despite its name, originally came from Portugal) is a chord progression usually in either D minor or G minor in the form of i-V-i-VII-III-VII-i-V. Composers for the last 500 years have used this chord progression to come up with some fantastic theme and variations, ranging from unaccompanied works, trio sonatas, to even full orchestral implementations. You can spend a looooong time listening to all the beautiful compositions that composers have made over the centuries highlighting this very captivating set of chords.I humbly submit my own version of La Folia in D minor for String Trio and Cembalo (harpsichord). I wrote my first version of this in my senior year of High School as a challenge to myself to write music in a genre I loved. I made updates here and there over the years, but its sat on a hard drive the entire time. It's taken me months to essentially rework it to my satisfaction and has been submitted for copyright. I have uploaded it to YouTube to share with others.BIG SHOUT OUTS to the three composers that inspired me in this work:Corelli: - His version of La Folia is probably the most popular for violinists, especially those that play out of the Suzuki books. I included a modified version of his Folia (Variation 9) in my work (with all other parts being vastly different from his interpretation) as an homage to his work.J.S. Bach - He showed me that music can be as intelligent as it is beautiful. I have two variations inspired by his work. Variation 8 is one that I wrote this year (2023) which I wanted to write for a long time is a variation that showcases the Harpsichord. Bach's keyboard works and unaccompanied violin works inspired me here. Second, Variation 14 I feel has Bach's inspiration all over it. The violin parts are each playing separate distinct melodies in double counterpoint which trade parts on the repeat. The bass line follows a pattern that Bach has employed for the bass on a number of Violin concertos and lastly, the Harpsichord treble part is a mensuration canon based on one of the violin parts, with the keyboard part playing the melody 4x as fast with variations. Lastly on a play of numbers, number 14 was a very special number for Bach, and as a tribute, I've made this the 14th variation in my work. This was also a new variation I added this year (2023) as well.Vivaldi - My first musical love. I feel that I captured a little bit of his musical DNA in all my works and this piece showcases this. Vivaldi's works is what made me fall in love with Baroque music and I am indebted to him for the profound impact his works have had on my life.So here you go. 413 measures. My longest individual work to date. And because I love playing with numbers, I decided to release this to the world on my 41st Year, 3rd month. Enjoy!-  Jose Bravo.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719523 Composed by Curtis Hanson. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 59 pages. Curtis Hanson #2032867. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719523). The Missa Millennia was composed during the spring of 2000 and premiered the following November by the choirs of the John Duss Music Conservatory, Duluth, MN. Scored for a chamber orchestra of strings, keyboard, and solo oboe (full score and instrumental parts available separately), the work is not so much a celebration of the new millennium as it is an assimilation of many of the musical styles, characteristics, and forms of the previous thousand years. The entire piece is in the form of the traditional Mass, a musical form having its origins in the Middle Ages, and is divided into the five movements commonly found in the Mass Ordinary: Kyrie (Lord, have mercy), Gloria (Glory to God in the highest), Credo (the Nicene Creed), Sanctus – Benedictus (Holy, holy, holy – Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord), and Agnus Dei (Lamb of God). In the final movement, the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi (Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace) concludes the work. Although the Missa Millennia as a whole is distinctly contemporary, elements from many earlier musical periods are incorporated into the movements. These include chant, open fifth and parallel fifth harmonic movement (organum), and canonic imitation from the Middle Ages and Renaissance; fugue, word-painting, terraced dynamics, ostinato (a repeated rhythmic or bass accompaniment), Alberti bass accompaniment figures, ABA form, and dominant-tonic harmonic relationships typical of Baroque and Classical music to name but a few. Other significant features are the usage of non-Western modality in the plaintive solo oboe and of pedal point, a sustained tone in the bass over which the melody and harmony evolve. Pedal point, a compositional tool used throughout music history, dates from the Middle Ages about the time of St. Francis. Although not directly based upon the music of any composer, the astute listener may hear musical ideas reminiscent of Vivaldi, Vaughan Williams, Respighi, Duruflé, and others. In the audio file, the 2nd movement (Gloria) can be found at approximately 6'25, the 3rd movement (Credo) at 12'05, the 4th movement (Sanctus) at 21'15, and the final movement (Agnus Dei) at 31'05. The complete Mass is approximately 43 minutes long.

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1074008 By Arkady Leytush. By Erik Satie. Arranged by Arkady Leytush. 20th Century. Score and parts. 23 pages. Arkady Leytush #678276. Published by Arkady Leytush (A0.1074008). E. Satie – Heures Séculaires et Instantanées, 1914, Orchestra suite 1. Obstacles venimeux 2. Crepuscule matinal 3. Affolments granitiques Duration about 4 minutes. Heures Séculaires et Instantanées (Hallowed by Time and Instant Hours), one of his humorous keyboard suites from the 1910s, contains Satie's famous warning to pianists against reading aloud the fanciful texts that adorned his score. Sati warns against reading aloud the texts written on his scores. This is the secret between the performer and the composer. “There are as many words as there are notes!†says the French composer-critic Guy Sacré. Biographer Rollo H. Myers saw Heures as an omen of surrealism (ten years before the fact) and a new phase in the relationship between text and music. “... For the first time, individual verbal witticisms and witticisms are replaced by something like a recitation or monologue, which is an integral part of the work: this is no longer a cursory comment, arbitrarily superimposed and often not related to the music that it accompanies, but a certain narrative, grotesque inspiration, which the music serves as an illustration. In addition to what has been said, I would like to add that being one of the first minimalists in modern music, Sati opens a new page in the combination of musical images and examples of abstract vision and imagination inspired by music with his illustrative texts in this humorous suite. This approach to composition soon led to the emergence of striking examples of the combination of music and animation. This short suite, full of humor and ingenuity, moved me when arranging to also emphasize this feature by choosing the full composition of the orchestra, where in each number of this suite the musicians of the orchestra play only a few notes in turn. On the one hand, this should bring great variety and contrast, on the other hand, a huge orchestra and a 4-minute suite in themselves cause a smile of inconsistency...
