Bach designed the cantata in seven movements, setting the stanzas in various forms. Among these forms are the chorale fantasia, the chorale prelude, and a four-part chorale. He casts the new lyrics as recitatives – in a manner similar to the opera. Fourth Movement Bach writes the fourth movement, Zion hört die Wächter singen (Zion hears the watchmen singing), in the style of a chorale prelude with the chorale phrases performed as a strict cantus firmus. It has an ABAC structure and was originally written in the key of B-flat major.The melody combines the music's contradictory possibilities. The downward thrusts of the opening phrases suggest emotional despair, while the final line, with its repeated high notes, sounds almost jubilant. It usually runs in an average time.All of Me first came to public notice when a performance by Belle Baker was broadcast on the radio in 1931. After that a few others also became successful.Frank Sinatra recorded several versions of All of Me. Its 1948 release peaked at No. 21. He also sang it in the film Meet Danny Wilson, which may have helped Johnnie Ray's performance reach No. 12 in the charts that year. Then, in the 1840’s he wrote his most famous work - O Holy Night. The original song title was Minuit Chretiens or Cantique de Noël.  Placide Cappeau provided the original song lyrics. The song was first performed in Roquemaure by the opera singer Emily Laurey at midnight mass in 1847. It became very popular among the French, much the way that Silent Night was famous elsewhere. In the 1850’s John S. Dwight, a Unitarian minister and music teacher translated the song into English.   Adolphe Adam In his younger years, Adam studied organ and composition at the Paris Conservatoire. He also played the timpani in the Conservatoire orchestra. Adam used his savings and borrowed money to open a new opera house - the fourth opera house in Paris in 1847. Unfortunately, the Revolution of 1848 forced him to close. He taught composition at the Paris Conservatoire from 1849 until his death in 1856. Placide Cappeau The poet Cappeau was an advocate of the French Enlightenment philosopher Voltaire.  Voltaire was renowned for criticizing the Catholic church, religious intolerance, and dogma in general. Consequently, Cappeau made the Redeemer figure in his song a kind of reformer of injustices, in particular, the problem of original sin. To begin with, people recognized Cappeau’s theology as eccentric, probably even doubtful. Theology In the earlier form of Minuit, the Christ figure descends to intervene with His Father’s plan to punish mankind.  Traditional doctrine pronounces that Christ came from love, not to intervene. This version also declares that Christ appeared to expunge the original sin of Adam. Cappeau removed this part from him poem years later, because he just didn’t believe it.  He preferred to portray Christ as the reformer of disparity and unfairness. Before long, the writer/politician Alphonse de Lamartine referred to the Minuit as the the Marseillaise of religion. It is a little surprising that tangos were popular in the European Jewish community around 1920. There had been a large group of Jewish immigrants going to Argentina in the late 1800's, and they in turn brought the Argentine tango back to Europe where it became very popular, especially in Poland. Those musicians made the tango format their own, adding the sound of popular Jewish cabarets and theaters along with Yiddish lyrics. The music came from a book of Yiddish songs, Yiddish Songs from Warsaw compiled by Jane Peppler, who gave permission to use her melodies and harmonies for this setting for flute and clarinet duet.

It is based on the hymn of the same name by Philipp Nicolai (1599). The hymn text covers the readings for the 27th Sunday after Trinity. Bach designed the cantata in seven movements, setting the stanzas in various forms. Among these forms are the chorale fantasia, the chorale prelude, and a four-part chorale. He casts the new lyrics as recitatives – in a manner similar to the opera. Fourth Movement Bach writes the fourth movement, Zion hört die Wächter singen (Zion hears the watchmen singing), in the style of a chorale prelude with the chorale phrases performed as a strict cantus firmus. The phrases seem to enter at times erratically against the famous lyrical melody. The violins play this melody in unison as a foil against the cantus phrases. The violin melody is so independent and complete that when the cantus melody appears it catches the listener at times totally off-guard. Bach later transcribed this movement for organ (BWV 645). English • German.French pianist Jean-Henri Ravina was a child prodigy who came to public attention when he performed in a concert at the age of eight. The violinist Pierre Rode heard him and encouraged Ravina to go to Paris, where at the age of thirteen he became a student at the Conservatoire. After completing his own studies, Ravina was eventually to teach there, too; he gave up that position, however, to focus on his career as a virtuoso performer and composer. Concert tours to Russia and Spain secured the reputation of this pianist, who was awarded the Légion d’honneur in 1861. Ravina wrote almost exclusively for the piano: Études, Préludes, a piano concerto, a Rêverie for the left hand alone, compositions for piano duet – including transcriptions of all Beethoven’s Symphonies – and piano pieces for three and as many as six players. The stylistic influence of Rode and Chopin is evident here. Ravina’s Petit Boléro op. 62 reflects the nineteenth-century predilection for exoticism and for music from other cultures – in this case from neighbouring Spain. Ernst W. Ritter, who published numerous arrangements with Schott, also arranged this composition for violin and piano: it is a dashing, lively piece of music! It has an ABAC structure and was originally written in the key of B-flat major.The melody combines the music's contradictory possibilities. The downward thrusts of the opening phrases suggest emotional despair, while the final line, with its repeated high notes, sounds almost jubilant. It usually runs in an average time.All of Me first came to public notice when a performance by Belle Baker was broadcast on the radio in 1931. After that a few others also became successful.Frank Sinatra recorded several versions of All of Me. Its 1948 release peaked at No. 21. He also sang it in the film Meet Danny Wilson, which may have helped Johnnie Ray's performance reach No. 12 in the charts that year. Sinatra's use of All of Me brought a non-jazz audience to the song, as did Willie Nelson, whose version was included on his Stardust album and reached No. 3 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 1978. In 2000, All of Me of Me received the Towering Song Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
