French Horn Duet Horn - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.552600 Composed by Johann Joachim Quantz (1697-1773). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Holiday,Standards,Wedding. Score. 29 pages. Jmsgu3 #6405545. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552600). Duetto Op. 2 No. 6:  I. Grave  II. Alla breve, ma Presto  III. Cantabile  IV. Canone infinito. Più tosto VivaceJohann Joachim Quantz, a German flutist and composer, occupies an intermediate position between the Baroque and Classical periods. His Sei Duetti, op. 2, composed in 1759, is an excellent example of his position between the two eras, showcasing elegance, lightness, and tenderness. They illustrate Quantz's craftsmanship and influence on transitioning from the Baroque to the Classical style. Thus, Quantz's music reflects an essential link in the evolution of musical styles from the Baroque to the Classical era. Quantz composed about 300 concerti and 200 other flute pieces for Frederick the Great. His works are for the transverse flute, including sonatas, concertos, trio sonatas, quartets, duets, trios, and unaccompanied caprices and fantasias for the flute. His treatise Versuch einer Anweisung die Flöte traversiere zu spielen (1752) is a valuable source of information on ornamentation and performance practices of the 18th century. Quantz made significant contributions to the development of the flute. He added a second key to the flute and invented the sliding end used to tune the instrument. He also experimented with different woods and configurations to improve the instrument's sound and versatility. Quantz was a renowned flute teacher who significantly influenced the development of flute playing and composition during the 18th century. In summary, Johann Joachim Quantz was a prolific composer, an influential flute teacher, and a key figure in the evolution of the flute and its music during the Baroque period.

Cello,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1487803 Composed by Pietro Antonio Locatelli. Arranged by David Starkweather. Classical. Score and part. 31 pages. Artaria Editions #1064741. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1487803). Three movements from these two sonatas became part of the cello literature due to an arrangement by Alfredo Piatti(1822-1901). Piatti's arrangement, while extending the literature for cello, took considerable liberty with the material. The three movements of the Locatelli-Piatti sonata are originally movements from the two Locatelli violin sonatas arranged in this edition for cello and continuo. Piatti's arrangement used the second and third movements of the Sonata in D Major, Op. 6 No. 6 , and the first movement of the Sonata in D Minor, Op. 6 No. 12. Pietro Antonio Locatelli (1695-1764) was an Italian composer and violinist who moved to Amsterdam in 1729. He was a virtuoso violinist, and his compositions are all concertos, sonatas and violin caprices. The twelve violin sonatas of Opus 6,1 published in Amsterdam in 1737, are considered to be among Locatelli's best works. The sonatas of Opus 6 generally follow the pattern found in No.6: a three movement scheme with a slow first movement, a fast middle movement, and concluding with a third movement set of variations, often on a minuet theme. No. 12 is a surprise, having five movements the last of which is a Capriccio, a predominantly solo movement subtitled Prova del intonatione. David Starkweather.

Key Signature: NaturalTime Signature: 3/4Tempo: Con moto (with movement (as lively as possible/ vivace))Difficulty: Advancednot much known about the composer, the piece originally comes from jazz compilation by Yury Chugunov.from the excerpt: The publication is dedicated to the waltz - not quite an ordinary genre in jazz, where the quadruple meter reigned supreme. The waltz was established in many respects thanks to the creativity in the fifty of the musicians kula (the so-called cool jazz - cool jazz). Interest in the waltz was shown by several major musicians of this direction, such as Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Dave Brubeck. One of the first waltz themes to penetrate jazz was Frank Churchill's most popular melody from the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Soon waltzes written by jazz musicians began to appear. The jazz waltz represents the lyrical side of jazz along with the jazz ballad and bossa nova. The collection includes works by Soviet and foreign authors. The latter are represented by the names of R. Rogers, B. Evans, D. Brubeck, P. Desmond with his famous Take Five waltz and others. Dave Brubeck (in whose ensemble alto saxophonist Paul Desmond played) was perhaps the first to experiment with five-, six-, seven-quarter time signatures, widely using variable time signatures, polyrhythm; a typical example of a waltz of variable size belongs to the young Moscow pianist Daniil Kramer (Caprice). Recall, by the way, that an example of a five-quarter waltz in symphonic music is found in Tchaikovsky (second movement of the Sixth Symphony). We hope that the collection will be of interest not only to jazz musicians, but also to a wider circle of music lovers.-Yuri Chugunov.

Published by Ars Nova Press (A0.1335564). Too Much For Our Thirstby Alexander BurdissArranged for Trombone and PianoDedicated to Courtney CarmackPerformance Time: approx. 7:00This is an adaptation for trombone of a piece originally written for tuba. The Eyes of the Poor from Paris SpleenWritten by Charles Baudelaire, Translated by Arthur Symons Ah! you want to know why I hate you to-day. It will probably be less easy for you to understand than for me to explain it to you; for you are, I think, the most perfect example of feminine impenetrability that could possibly be found. We had spent a long day together, and it had seemed to me short. We had promised one another that we would think the same thoughts and that our two souls should become one soul; a dream which is not original, after all, except that, dreamed by all men, it has been realised by none. In the evening you were a little tired, and you sat down outside a new café at the corner of a new boulevard, still littered with plaster and already displaying proudly its unfinished splendours. The café glittered. The very gas put on all the fervency of a fresh start, and lighted up with its full force the blinding whiteness of the walls, the dazzling sheets of glass in the mirrors, the gilt of cornices and mouldings, the chubby-cheeked pages straining back from hounds in leash, the ladies laughing at the falcons on their wrists, the nymphs and goddesses carrying fruits and pies and game on their heads, the Hebes and Ganymedes holding out at arm's-length little jars of syrups or parti-coloured obelisks of ices; the whole of history and of mythology brought together to make a paradise for gluttons. Exactly opposite to us, in the roadway, stood a man of about forty years of age, with a weary face and a greyish beard, holding a little boy by one hand and carrying on the other arm a little fellow too weak to walk. He was taking the nurse-maid's place, and had brought his children out for a walk in the evening. All were in rags. The three faces were extraordinarily serious, and the six eyes stared fixedly at the new café with an equal admiration, differentiated in each according to age. The father's eyes said: How beautiful it is! how beautiful it is! One would think that all the gold of the poor world had found its way to these walls. The boy's eyes said: How beautiful it is! how beautiful it is! But that is a house which only people who are not like us can enter. As for the little one's eyes, they were too fascinated to express anything but stupid and utter joy. Song-writers say that pleasure ennobles the soul and softens the heart. The song was right that evening, so far as I was concerned. Not only was I touched by this family of eyes, but I felt rather ashamed of our glasses and decanters, so much too much for our thirst. I turned to look at you, dear love, that I might read my own thought in you; I gazed deep into your eyes, so beautiful and so strangely sweet, your green eyes that are the home of caprice and under the sovereignty of the Moon; and you said to me: Those people are insupportable to me with their staring saucer- eyes! Couldn't you tell the head waiter to send them away? So hard is it to understand one another, dearest, and so incommunicable is thought, even between people who are in love!

Viola Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912917 Composed by Brandon Nelson. Concert,Contemporary. Individual part. 7 pages. Brandon Nelson #1998627. Published by Brandon Nelson (A0.912917). A set of intriguing, contrasting miniatures for unaccompanied viola. Aimed at higher level players, this piece is ideal for any concert or recital setting. The first in this set, from darkness, rising, is a lyric caprice which gradually moves from darker modes to brighter modes (locrian to lydian). The next selection, Eidólons, has a veiled, mysterious quality. In this piece, I explore variations based on rhythmic alteration. An eidólon is a spirit or phantasm; the term was a favorite of American poet Walt Whitman. The third entry, Homeostatic, is built upon a concept I refer to as biofeedback music. In this case, I took regularly-spaced readings of my pulse rate and blood oxygen saturation percentage and performed basic arithmetic operations on these figures, the results of which I used to determine a number of musical facets (most notably the essential constituents of the rhythmic gestures). The final piece, Sapta Bodhyanga, I built on a wedge concept (in this case, seven intervals, each becoming larger, ending with the octave). The number seven also features prominently in the design of the rhythmic motives (with chance procedures used in the deployment of these figures). Given the concentration on this number and the use of aleatoric methods, I titled this piece after the Zen Buddhist concept sapta-bodhyang, or seven degrees of enlightenment.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.790173 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ludwig van Beethoven. Classical,Concert. Score. 17 pages. Diamond S Music #5755359. Published by Diamond S Music (A0.790173). Rondo a Capriccio in G Major, Op.129 - Rage Over A Lost Penny - Beethoven - Piano Solo.  The Rondo alla ingharese quasi un capriccio in G major, Op. 129 is a piano rondo by Ludwig van Beethoven. It is better known by the title Rage Over a Lost Penny, Vented in a Caprice. This title appears on the autograph manuscript, but not in Beethoven's hand, and has been attributed to his friend Anton Schindler. It is a favorite with audiences and is frequently performed as a showpiece. Robert Schumann wrote of the work that it would be difficult to find anything merrier than this whim... It is the most amiable, harmless anger, similar to that felt when one cannot pull a shoe from off the foot, citing the work as an instance of Beethoven's earthliness against those fixated upon a transcendental image of the composer. This new edition also contains a brief biography of Beethoven, some historical information about the piece, and a facsimile of a portion of the original manuscript.  Other similar arrangements and selections from DIAMOND S MUSIC available at: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/diamond-s-music/6940

Cello Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1255610 By Antonio Meneses. By Carlo Alfredo Piatti. Arranged by Antonio Meneses & Michele Galvagno. 19th Century,Classical,Instructional,Opera,Romantic Period. Individual part. 34 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #849122. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.1255610). Carlo Alfredo Piatti composed only one more piece for cello solo, besides the Twelve Caprices, Op. 25, the Capriccio sopra un tema della Niobe di Pacini, Op. 22, published in 1864, but apparently performed for the first time in 1843 in Budapest. This edition thoroughly researches the surviving sources and the history behind the opera theme (an investigation on its own) and provides a modern, clean, and easy-to-play-from format for this 10-minutes-long virtuoso piece. The extra cello part is edited by Maestro Antonio Meneses after his outstanding recording in the CD “Capricciosoâ€, marking the start of a new great collaboration for our editions.

Piano - intermediate to difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53316 Composed by Julius Schulhoff. Edited by Robert Schafer and Wilhelm Ohmen. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. 3 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53316. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53316). Julius Schulhoff grew up as the son of wealthy Jewish parents in Prague, where he received piano and music theory lessons. Following his first performances in Dresden and Leipzig, he moved to Paris in the mid-1840s and was active there as a virtuoso pianist. Chopin is said to have shaken his hand after a performance, saying: ‘Vous êtes un vrai artiste, un collègue.’ (You are a true artist, a colleague.) Concert tours in England, Spain and Russia followed. However, over time, he gave up his career as a soloist and devoted himself entirely to teaching and composing, first in Paris, from 1870 in Dresden, later in Berlin, where he was appointed Professor a year before his death. His virtuoso salon music for piano includes a large sonata, studies, caprices, impromptus, nocturnes, waltzes and mazurkas. This short ‘album leaf’ was published by Schott in 1852 (plate number 12059).
