Small Ensemble Timpani,Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.977353 By Various Artists. By Airto G Moreira, Gottfried Engels, and Ramon Zenker. Arranged by Des McNutty. Contemporary. Score and parts. 12 pages. Des Press #6438145. Published by Des Press (A0.977353). Part of the series: A Pulchritudinous Posy of Pleasing Party-PiecesA few fancies for five-part natural trumpet ensemble* with optional timpani. At last: Some new repertoire for the historical natural trumpet! This one-handed instrument was familiar to composers such as JS Bach, Handel, Telemann, Purcell, Vivaldi etc., but was largely neglected after the invention of valves in the early 19th century - and the subsequent invention of the nodal vent-hole systems in the late 20th-century - until recently, when the elusive lost art of clarino playing (in the fourth octave and above) was cracked by dedicated optimists such as Don L Smithers and JF Madeuf. These arrangements are a stylistic departure from the trumpet's golden age of Baroque repertoire, featuring works well known in the 20th century, and provide excellent training for rhythmic precision, style, pitching and team playing. They're also fun, if you like that sort of thing. Advice on tuning up the differently-pitched instruments and a technical tip are included. The current regulations on SMP mean us little guys can only publish in-copyright works one at a time. So, you can collect them all and make yourself a tome!  These arrangements were originally written for Lunchtime Tower Music (weather permitting), at the Dartington International Summer School between roughly 2000 and 2010, for courses led by Michael Laird and David Staff. Such performances from the mediæval clock tower involved the various brass and other wind classes playing seriously with an informal atmosphere. Logistical issues, a narrow staircase and the ubiquitous Health-and-Safety regulations prevented the use of timpani on the tower but sometimes larger groups, and those involving vertigo sufferers, played in the courtyard instead. These pieces are the opposite of playing Baroque music on modern, or postmodern instruments. Get them all now and enjoy a refreshing change! Enjoy! DM

Published by Victor Rebullida (A0.1021516). Haiku is an entertaining work composed as a vocal studio for choir. The intention was to get the choirs to work on the pentatonic scales. In addition, the work is a vocal articulation exercise for singers. It consists of three brief parts, the first two with texts of two haiku and the third based on a Sansa-daiko dance, a dance for taiko drums that is learned by memorizing certain syllables that represent the text of the latter piece. The rhythm is literally that of the dance itself but that melodically is embedded in pentatonic scales just like the two previous pieces. For the management of copyright the work is registered with the SGAE (Copyright Management Society of Spain) The score contains the data of the work and the composer for the management of Rights. The author will appreciate being informed of any interpretation of the work.------------Haiku es una obra divertida que compuse como un estudio vocal para coro. String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869305 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 9 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #50809. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869305). Program notes. I met Lila Brown a year ago when she and members of the Boston Conservatory faculty performed my Octet in D, opus 144 (2012) at Seully Hall. Lila told me she had a summer festival in Salem, NY, and wondered if I would like to write a piece for her. I said sure. Just as in Hollywood, you never say no. At first Lila asked me if I would like to write a companion piece for Anton Webern’s Saxophone Quartet. I said sure!!! One thing led another and somehow I ended up agreeing to write a piano quintet for her. In the meanwhile Lila contacted Delores Stevens, artistic director of the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Festival, and asked her if she would also premiere the work at her festival. Delores did a little research on me and my music online and she said yes. So, here we are. Siamo d’accordo. I wrote my first piano quintet in 1988 for the Apple Hill Chamber Players. That was not the usual quintet of a piano and string quartet. The Schubert Trout quintet was my model: piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass. I titled that work, Piano Quintet … apple strudel (1988). At that time I was a huge fan of the Entenmann’s Apple Strudel. I imagined the piano being encased/surrounded by the four string instruments. My first real piano quintet was written for the Formosa Quartet and pianist Tammy Lum. They premiered the work at Nyack College during the spring of 1988. My current piano quintet (no. 2) is titled Pq2 … (2014). It is a work in five movements. I. Moderato … Trio II. Adagio … III. Tsiaj 1 … Allegro IV. Tsiaj 2 … Prestissimo! V. Adagio What’s tsiaj? I got this from Charles E. Ives. The title of the middle movement of his Piano Trio is TSIAJ. It’s an acronym of This Scherzo is a joke. Enjoy!

Chamber Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1022765 Composed by Stefano Maria Torchio. Contemporary,Sacred. Score and parts. 2 pages. Stefano Torchio #3142887. Published by Stefano Torchio (A0.1022765). S. M. Torchio: En Archè en o Logos (2007)A deep and powerful reflection on the first lines of John's Gospel and the mistery of the Creation and of the beginning. The fascinating sound of ancient Greek creates a dialectic relationship with the modern international english language. All happens wihin a very interesting proposal for an avantgarde sacred music fitted for liturgical uses too. A considerable number of singers and of strings is required in order to create an adequate sound space and colour. Particular care is required by the intonation and the creation and substain of the right tone (which are perhaps the biggest challenge by the piece) but the entire music created by the phonemata and the training about it could be very funny and very precious and helpful for an interesting growth of a very fine Choir. The piece won the International Composition Competition Anima Mundi organized by the Opera Primaziale di Pisa in 2009.Stefano Maria TorchioItalian Violinist, Composer and Conductor, spent his education between Italy and the University of Music and Performing Art in Vienna, where he studied Orchestral Conducting with U. Lajovic and J. Wildner and Choir Conducting with E. Ortner and T. Lang. Further studies made Torchio in Violin, Composition and Organ at the Music Conservatory of Padua (his home town). He won prizes by international composition competitions like the Anima Mundi of the Opera Primaziale di Pisa, the A. Casella of the Accademia Chigiana of Siena, In memoriam... Johannes XXIII of Comune di Sotto il Monte, the MiniMusicDrama of Ovada and the Composition Prize of the Music Conservatory of Padua. He also participated by seminaries and masterclasses in Composition and Conducting with important Maestri like Z. Metha, F. Luisi, B. de Billy, S. Young, G. Andretta, A. Corghi, I. Fedele, C. Ambrosini, M. Lichtfuß and R. Vaglini by important Academies and Institution like the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, the R. Romanini Foundation in Brescia and the Accademia L. Perosi in Biella.
