Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1042625 Composed by Todd Marchand. Sacred. Octavo. 7 pages. Con Spirito Music #647400. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1042625). Tobias Clausnitzer (1619-1684) was a German Lutheran pastor and writer of theological treatises, sermons, and hymns. His best-known hymn, perhaps, is Liebster Jesu wir sind bier, translated to English and published as Blessed Jesus, at thy word by the English hymn-writer and educator Catherine Winkworth (1827-1878) in her Lyra Germanica — Hymns for the Sundays and Chief Festivals of the Christian Year, translated from the German (1858), and repeated in her Chorale Book for England (1863). Winkworth was also translator for Clausnitzer's Wir glauben all an einen Gott, Yater, Sohn und heilgen Geist (We all believe in one true God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost), a metrical paraphrase of the Apostles Creed designated for Trinity Sunday in the Culmbach-Bayreuth Gesang-Buch (1668). Winkworth also included this in her Chorale Book for England. This new musical setting, mostly in unison and briefly expanding to three-part harmony at the peak of each verse, is very singable by small and developing choirs composed of soprano, alto, and baritone/bass voices. The accompaniment, with sustained tones, is best realized on organ. The opening phrase, We all believe in one true God, may be sung by a solo male voice, similar to the opening intonation of a chanted canticle or psalm. Dynamic contrasts (crescendi and decrescendi) throughout follow the rising and falling of the melodic line and should be carefully observed. ©Copyright 2022 Todd Marchand / ConSpiritoMusic. Choir Sacred Instrumental Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: JX.00-30518 Composed by Thomas Jaman. Arranged by William David Young and orchestrated by Bruce Greer. This edition: InstruPax. Choral (Sacred); Choral Octavo; Performance Music Ensemble; Single Titles; Worship Resources. H. W. Gray. Advent; Christmas; Sacred. Part(s). 25 pages. H. W. Gray #00-30518. Published by H. W. Gray (JX.00-30518). English. Bruce Greer. Psalm 24, Psalm 122, Isaiah 2:1-5, Zephaniah 3:14-18, Romans 13:11-14.Advent Joy is a delightful setting of the hymn, Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates (Macht hoch die Thur), by Georg Weissel (1590-1635); translated from German by Catherine Winkworth (1827-1878) in 1855. Winkworth included this hymn in her first edition of translated hymns, Lyra Germanica. She went on to publish several more collections of translated German hymns and is credited with, more than any other person, bringing the German chorale tradition to the English speaking world. The hymn is based on Psalm 24. Here, employing a hymn tune by English choir master and hymnist, Thomas Jarman (1776-1860), William David Young creates a charming anthem for the anticipatory season of Advent. Multiple voicings, instrument parts and a fully-orchestrated accompaniment track are available.

Returning home, he began his law practice and eventually became mayor of Guben. As an avocation, the Lutheran politician wrote poems–and soonbecame known as one of the leading hymnists of his time, ranked only behind Gerhard. He is credited for the creation of a group of so-called Jesus hymns, building the foundation for the pietistic hymn movement that would later sweep through Europe. Franck once wrote that poetry should be the nurse of piety, the herald of immortality, the promoter of cheerfulness, the conqueror of sadness, and a foretaste of heavenly glory. Indeed, his hymns echoed his own spirit of encouragement.Lyndell Leatherman (b. 1953) was born into a Nazarene parsonage in southeast Kansas. After studying church music and composition at Olivet Nazarene University (Kankakee, Illinois) and Illinois State University (Bloomington-Normal, Illinois), he launched into a life of music ministry. Since 1977 he has enjoyed a diverse career as church musician, editor, accompanist, composer, and arranger. In 1998 he became aware of Franck’s eucharistic / Advent hymn, translated either Deck Thyself with Joy and Gladness (Mattes) or Deck Thyself, My Soul, with Gladness (Winkworth). Because the text was unique in its unusually exultant treatment of the sacrament of holy communion, Lyndell felt that the hymn was worthy of renewed consideration in the third millennium of Christian worship. So he updated the language and gave it the new musical setting used here. ************It has long been my passion and privilege to create customized arrangements for the churches and schools with whom I have been associated. Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726020 Composed by Louis Bourgeois. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christmas,Sacred. Score and parts. 17 pages. Con Spirito Music #2957905. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726020). French composer Louis Bourgeois (c. 1510-1559) wrote or adapted a number of tunes to the metrical settings of the Psalms in the Genevan Psalter. The tune on which this arrangement is based was written for Psalm 42, and today it often accompanies a text written by Johann Olearius (1635-1711) and translated by Catherine Winkworth (1829-1878) that paraphrases Isaiah 40:1-5, the prophet's call for repentance at the advent of a new kingdom bringing peace and joy: Comfort, comfort ye my people, speak ye peace, thus saith our God. In this arrangement, a straightforward statement of the chorale tune leads into an energetic, highly syncopated romp in constantly changing meters. ©Copyright 2011 Todd Marchand / ConSpiritoMusic.
