As a composer, I feel I always need to be working on something. Even if it's not for a commission, I like to work on my skills, on my composing craft, on keeping the creative ideas flowing. So occasionally I set myself assignments of a sort, which is how this song cycle Spectrum came to me. I set myself the task of interpreting the colours of the rainbow pride flag. Because I am so gay. The cycle is not actually LGBTQIA+ themed in its subject matter as such, the flag was jut a kind of framework for my creativity.

In the intervening years since the cycle was first conceived, the LGBTQIA+ community has embraced a new flag, the Progress Pride Flag, which will give me a few more colours to interpret and add to the original cycle.

This song Red was inspired by an animated video of red blood cells coursing down an artery.

Timeless Solos is a play on words. The solos in this volume contain no time signatures or bar lines. I did this because I wanted the solos to be very expressive in interpretation yet free-form in structure. The companion recording presents my interpretation of these works. You may interpret them differently and that is fine! All solos are in notation and tablature. When writing these solos I first envisioned the form as an extended cadenza. However, from my earlier trumpet playing days I recalled that, especially in the 19th century, a cadenza was a momentary break in a solo which gave the performer a chance to dazzle the audience with his or her virtuosity. These solos are not about that. Rather, they are a vehicle to give the guitarist an opportunity to move the listener with the performer's expressive ability. I also thought of these solos in the form of a chant. However, most chants are monophonic in form and these solos in various parts present a fairly lush harmonic structure. While the solos were written for a 7 string guitar, they may be played successfully on a 6 string guitar. Alternate notes for those found on the 7th string are shown in the tablature part. Also, the solo, Peace, is written in Dropped D tuning and makes little use of the 7th string pedal tones. The solos are contemplative in nature and provide ample opportunity for individual expression and interpretation. I hope you enjoy playing and performing these works.

This is an arrangement like no other!
Pachelbel's Canon is a hugely popular piece, but unfortunately it was not written for the string quartet. The original is for three violins and basso continuo, so this presents quite a few problems when string quartets attempt to play it.
 - Firstly, the 'viola' part is extraordinarily high, not only making it very difficult to play, but making that one voice stick out much more than the other three in the highest parts of the piece. Usually the high bits are just transposed down an octave but this isn't very satisfying. My solution in this arrangement is to swap the voices of the canon around so that the viola always plays the lowest part. Have a look at the score to see what I mean - the viola part isn't transposed, but it never goes above an E on the A string.
- Secondly, the first two bars should have harmony, as there should be a keyboard instrument accompanying the cello. To compensate for this I've added some simple harmony in small note heads at the start, before each canon entry.
- Thirdly, the cellist always gets lost in this piece. I know because I am a cellist and I always get stressed out towards the end of this piece. So I've added a reduced-size violin 1 part to the cello part so the cellist can follow along and know exactly when the piece is going to end!

This version of the score includes optional RHYTHM SECTION PARTS for guitar, bass, & drum set in addition to the standard string quartet. To be clear, you do not have to perform this chart with bass and drums. I have gone to great pains to ensure that, with proper preparation, a string quartet performance will sound every bit as groovy as a full 7-piece band. So if you try to play this without a drummer and it doesn't go well, I don't want to hear about it. Go practice.

Having a great ensemble may be the first step to successfully landing the big gigs, but having repertoire that gives your musicians the chance to shine will make you stand out from the rest. So don't settle for reading off of a piano score or hacking through questionably-obtained transcriptions when you can have the real deal. Fresh tunes, arranged by a real string player who has been in your shoes and knows how to wow the crowd!

I love writing music and this song is my first written piece. I love the piano and it was so much fun composing this piece. It is named Waters of Life because I think it sounds like the calm and serenity of a river, but then gets more intense as the river moves more swiftly. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do.

I mostly play this piece at weddings, and since it is often several weeks or months between performances, I like to use this 'simplified' arrangement because I can get it under my fingers again quickly. I like the resonance of the drop D tuning, however for those weddings when it is not convenient to tune down, I use an arrangement in E major, also published on this site.

This is my composition named Just Having Fun. It was writen for standard jazz band (Drum, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano), and small brass band (Tenor Sax, Alto Sax, Trumpet, Trombone).

Now the idea of this piece is short challenge for musician in different levels, everyone can enjoy. Featuring brass tutti, high note on trumpet, Snarky puppy feels, gospel solos and mysterious feel solos. Feel free to repeate some solo sections to play on different instruments if you want. :)

I don't put any midi demo here because I want you to explore the music by yourself, I see no point of listening to contemporary composition on midi. But I understand that some of you may be upset, and for that I appologize
