Organ - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912505 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. Concert,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 29 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #6201739. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912505). Theme and Variations on TRSCH is a piece that is suitable for concert use. As one plays the piece, one shall realize that each variation has its own character. The work also may be used for educational purposes in that it teaches students on how a theme is transformed rhythmically and arranged melodically.Theme And Variations On TRSCH For Organ by Thomas R. Schadl consists of seven variations that are based on TRSCH (B flat, D, E flat, C, and B or A# D D# C B). It is written using the serial technique, the compositional method where a row of notes are arranged in direct, reverse, inverse and retrograde-inverse orders. The technique employed is not as strict as the 12-tone system used in the compositions of Arnold Schoenberg and Anton Webern. In a standard theme and variations form, the melody may be altered by adding or subtracting notes, or changing it rhythmically, but it is not the case in the piece being discussed. Most variations do not follow the rhythmic pattern of the main theme; rather, the theme in each variation is treated in fragments, lengthened note values, shortened note values, inversions and reversed orders. Each variation explores moods and the work is organized this way:Main Theme: m 1-6           TRSCH is stated in the bass.Variation I:     m 7-22         FugatoVariation II     m 23-50       Mystical quality and lyrical Variation III   m 51-88       Scherzo, lyrical section, scherzoVariation IV   m 89-116     ToccataVariation V     m 117-224   Mystical mood, scherzo, mystical moodVariation VI   m 225-297   Toccata, brief lyrical section, toccataVariation VII   m 298-317   Variation I but at a slower speed.Forward                           ReverseA# D D# C     B             F   F # A G# EF# A# B   G# G             C# D   F   E   CF   A   A# G   F#            C   C# E D#   BG# C   C# A# A             D# E   G F#   DA   C# D   B   A#            E   F   G# G   D#

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912497 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. Concert,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 9 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #3916053. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912497). Toccata In B Flat Minor, by Thomas R. Schadl, explores rhythmic energy and lyricism. The exposition (bars 1-18) consists of the static rhythm, where the the first beat is accented. The melodic part of the exposition is lyrical and has syncopation that provide contrast to the driving rhythm. The transition exists from bar 19 to 56, but unlike the traditional sonata form where the transition moves on to the second theme in the exposition, the main theme re-appears briefly from bar 57 to 64 and then it moves on to the second theme (bars 65-100). Sonata form includes the development section that involves the  working of a theme or themes that were stated in the exposition, but this work does not have a development part; so in its place is the transition that spans from bar 101 to 114, leading to the recapitulation (restatement of the first theme in the exposition). Following the restatement, the second theme comes in at bars 133 to 140 and is restated at bars 157 to 176; transition is inserted at bars 141 to 156. As the piece progresses toward the end, the fragmented portion of the second theme repeats with diminishing sound intensity, followed by a brief transition stated in the first few bars after measure 19. The piece ends with a loud B Flat, after a one bar rest. Anyone planning to analyse this composition will come to realize that since the development section does not exist, one may conclude that the work is composed in a modified sonata form. Toccata In B Flat Minor requires steady rhythmic sense, quick left-hand jump between bass notes to eighth-note passages in the second theme, and a good sense of rhythm when executing four eighth notes against triplets. Slow practice speed is advised in order to master the technical challenges. The piece is suitable for education and concert purposes, and may be performed in silent movies or stage shows.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912489 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. Concert,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #3569709. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912489). Andante on EGD For Piano is based on an EGD motive, and is organized in a six-note row, in a manner similar to the twelve-tone system Arnold Schoenberg (1874-1951) devised in the 1920s. With other note rows included in the piece, the work portrays an eerie atmosphere that one would associate with mystery plays and movies, such as The Twilight Zone. In performing the piece, care should be given to stressing the melodic lines.Structure of the six-note row:E     G D    D# G#  FC#   E B     C F   D F#   A E      F A# GF    G# D#    E A   F#C    D# A#    B E   C#D#  F# C#    D G  E E to E diagonal row                                         F to D# diagonal rowX0     E                                                      Y0 FX1     C# G                                                   Y1 G# DX2     F# E D                                                  Y2 D# F GX3     F A B  D#                                    Y3 D C A# F#X4     C G# E  C G#                                 Y4 G B F A C#X5     D# D# D#  F F F                            Y5 E E E E E EX6     F# A# E A# D                                       Y6 C# A D# B GX7    C# B A  G                                       Y7 F# G# A# DX8    D E F#                                                   Y8 F# D# C#X9    G C#                                                      Y9 C F#X10  E                                                          Y10 D#The purpose of writing this piece, based on EGD, is to show how a simple motive is expanded by applying various compositional techniques.

Organ - Digital Download SKU: A0.912508 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. Concert,Contemporary,Easter,Spiritual,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #6519099. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912508). Inspired by the opening melody of Olivier Messiaen’s (1908-1992) SERENE ALLELUIAS FROM A SOUL LONGING FOR HEAVEN, from ASCENSION DAY -Four Symphonic Meditations for organ, the piece begins softly with a chant-like melody. As the work progresses, sound volume increases that symbolizes the coming of divine light. The latter half of the piece becomes quieter and ends in a major key; it depicts the assurance of peace and love. Meditation II is suitable for recital use, and may be performed during the Lenten season or Good Friday service. Organ registrations and tempo indications are only suggestions.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912491 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. Concert,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 4 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #3569713. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912491). Passacaglia On EGD For Piano follows the dance style that exists in a triple time. The feature in the theme consists of notes that start in a forward direction, followed by its retrograde direction.  Here is how the theme is organized. The first four bars contains EGDC#EBF#A. The notes of the next four bars are arranged this way: AF#BEC#DGE.To perform this work, one may apply the damper pedal for each note of the theme from bars 1-8. Apply the damper pedal for each quarter-note beat from bars 9 to 48. From measures 49-72, the pedal may not be used to allow clarity of the theme; however, the pedal may be used from bars 73 to the end of the piece.Structure of the six-note row:E     G D    D# G#  FC#   E B     C F   D F#   A E      F A# GF    G# D#    E A   F#C    D# A#    B E   C#D#  F# C#    D G  E E to E diagonal row                                         F to D# diagonal rowX0     E                                                      Y0 FX1     C# G                                                   Y1 G# DX2     F# E D                                                  Y2 D# F GX3     F A B  D#                                    Y3 D C A# F#X4     C G# E  C G#                                 Y4 G B F A C#X5     D# D# D#  F F F                            Y5 E E E E E EX6     F# A# E A# D                                       Y6 C# A D# B GX7    C# B A  G                                       Y7 F# G# A# DX8    D E F#                                                   Y8 F# D# C#X9    G C#                                                      Y9 C F#X10  E                                                          Y10 D#The purpose of writing this piece, based on EGD, is to show how a simple motive is expanded by applying various compositional techniques.

Trumpet Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912495 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. Classical,Contemporary. Individual part. 1 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #3877235. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912495). Written in two movements for trumpet, horn in F and organ, the work starts with a slower introduction that is written in the key of B major, the dominant key of E major. Moreover, the first movement has imitative passages that are present in all the three instruments. Following the first movement that is written in the 4/4 time, the next movement, composed in the 6/8 time and in E major, is performed gracefully in a style of a pastorale. Like the previous movement, the second part is contrapuntal but it differs in its extensive use of the dialogue between the horn and trumpet. In performing the sonata, there should be balance among the brass instruments and the organ in regard to sound intensity and the speed. The trumpet tends to overpower the horn in passages marked f or louder, and the organist may adjust the registrations to keep the sound from overpowering the other two instruments. If this piece were to be performed in large concert halls or churches, the time that takes air to leave the organ chest to the pipes may be longer. Choice of speed should be rehearsed carefully. The organ registration itself is merely a suggestion and should not be taken too literally due to the design of the organ and the acoustics of the hall or church. Sonata For Trumpet, Horn And Organ is suitable for concert use. This work may be performed at any time of the year, especially Christmas, Post-Easter and general use.
