Brass Quintet Baritone Horn TC,Bass Trombone,Euphonium,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1456396 Composed by Charles Villiers Stanford and F. Pratt Green. Arranged by Ivan Brand. Christian,Religious,Sacred. 5 pages. Ivan Brand #1035474. Published by Ivan Brand (A0.1456396). A new 8-measure introduction launches this piece in the style of a fanfare. The music first presents this hymn in F major and then modulates to the usual G-Major key in the final verse. A new descant helps build this piece to its joyous conclusion. This arrangement for brass quintet is a great way to present this piece in a Christian worship service setting. If desired, the worhipers can sing along with the instruments (without organ or piano) if the church has the original hymn setting, or melody available, and with a director or song-leader.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1308677 Composed by Ernest Farrar. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Classical,Patriotic. Score and Parts. 54 pages. John Ivor Holland #897917. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1308677). Ernest Farrar (1885-1918) was a talented composer, born in London but raised in Yorkshire, who was deprived of a long and storied career by his untimely death during World War I. He enlisted in 1915 and gained a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in February 1918. At the suggestion of Charles Villiers Stanford and Ralph Vaughan Williams, he composed 'Heroic Elegy' (op. 36) in 1918 while in service, and conducted its first performance on 3 July 1918 while on leave. Farrar was summoned to France just over two months later and was tragically killed by machine gunfire at the Battle of Ephey Ronssoy later than month. The simple dedication at the top of the score reads To Soldiers, making his final composition even more poignant. A sombre, but somehow joyful piece that wouldn't be out of place in any military or civic memorial event.

Piano - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q556978 For solo piano. Composed by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. Downloadable. Duration 3 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q556978. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q556978). Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Papillon for solo piano was first published in 1908 by Augener Ltd. Following George Augener’s retirement in 1910, the work along with the whole Augener catalogue (which contained no less than 24 other works by Coleridge-Taylor), was aquired by Schott and Co. Ltd. At the time both companies occupied offices on Great Marlborough Street, London. Coleridge-Taylor was born in London and brought up in Croydon. He learnt to play the violin, was recognised as a child prodigy and at 15 was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music with Charles Villiers Stanford, where he was a contemporary of Holst and Vaughan Williams. Coleridge-Taylor described himself as Anglo-African and, despite support from his colleagues, faced racism throughout his whole career. In spite of this prejudice and his tragically early death in 1912 aged just 37, he enjoyed great success during his lifetime and his music was performed at the Proms no less than 116 times between 1898 and 1939. In contrast, since 1940 his music has only been heard there on thirteen occasions to date. Like many works from this period, at some point in the past Papillon became out of print. Schott Music is now very pleased to present this new modern performing edition with errors and inconsistencies from the original edition now corrected.
