I composed these six unison* choir pieces in 1995 when I was an elementary music teacher in Marinette, Wisconsin at Park Elementary School. Six students submitted poems, selected by their classroom teachers, which I set for the choir that year. The 6 pieces are: (1) Friends, (2) Birds and Butterflies, (3) Nature, (4) Rainbows, (5) The Fellow, and (6) Sense of Humor.

Here is an easy instrumental duet arrangement (for BOWED PSALTERY solo with PIANO accompaniment) of the traditional Sicilian melody SICILIAN MARINERS (also known as O Sanctissima) with lyrics by Johann Daniel Falk and translated into English by B. Schmucker. The psaltery part was designed for a beginning psaltery player and is written in the key of C major with no sharps or flats. The piano accompaniment is at the intermediate level.

To assist those new to reading music notation, two solo parts are included: one is the standard music notation and includes the lyrics for sing along enjoyment. The second solo part is identical to the standard music but instead of lyrics, the note names are provided below each note (example A, B, C. . .).

The psaltery plays the melody for one verse. An optional repeat is included in case a longer selection is desired. Here is an easy instrumental duet arrangement (for BOWED PSALTERY solo with PIANO accompaniment) of the classic hymn tune BEACH SPRING. Many lyrics have been set to this tune attributed to Benjamin F. White, including Come, All Christians, Be Committed and God of Day and God of Darkness.

The psaltery part was designed for a beginning psaltery player and is written in the key of F major with only 1 flat (B♭ = A♯). The piano accompaniment is at the intermediate level.
