Easy Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1140479 By Giacomo Puccini. By Giacomo Puccini. Arranged by Flavio Regis Cunha. Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Opera,Wedding. Score. 4 pages. Flavio Regis Cunha #740715. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha (A0.1140479). O mio babbino caro (Oh my dear Papaâ€) is a soprano aria from the opera Gianni Schicchi (1918) by Giacomo Puccini to a libretto by Giovacchino Forzano. It is sung by Lauretta after tensions between her father Schicchi and the family of Rinuccio, the boy she loves, have reached a breaking point that threatens to separate her from Rinuccio. It provides an interlude expressing lyrical simplicity and love in contrast with the atmosphere of hypocrisy, jealousy, double-dealing, and feuding in medieval Florence. It provides the only set-piece in the through-composed opera. Florence Easton as Lauretta at the world premiere of Gianni Schicchi, 14 December 1918 The aria was first performed at the premiere of Gianni Schicchi on 14 December 1918 at the Metropolitan Opera in New York by the popular Edwardian English soprano Florence Easton. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Digital Download SKU: A0.1176320 Composed by Julián De La Chica. Classical,Contemporary,Opera. Score. 25 pages. Vagabundo Music Publishing #776442. Published by Vagabundo Music Publishing (A0.1176320). MUSIC NOTES:The Arias began with a month De La Chica spent in Italy in the summer of 2021. There, walking the streets, he saw a poster announcing a vocal recital in what he describes as “a very old chapel,†and which was the first public concert he saw since the beginning of the pandemic. “Maybe it was the ambience of the chapel, the city, and the Italian arias that gave me inspiration for the cycle,†he says. And the Poemas de bar became a model for the new music. “Because the Poemas were conversations in a bar, â€De La Chica explains, “I decided to capture everyday conversations in Florence. I ‘stole’ some stories—for example, when I was on line to buy tickets for the Campanile, or in a coffee shop,†he would note bits of conversations he overheard. He tells one story about this: “I still remember around 2 a.m., there was one guy sitting on a bridge over the Arno. I think he was drunk.†De La Chica heard him saying to passersby, “look at the light of the river.†The composer thought the man was trying to jump, an experiencehe describes as “a little scary.†— George Grella.

Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.1178488 Composed by Julián De La Chica. Classical,Contemporary,Film/TV. Score. 25 pages. Vagabundo Music Publishing #778453. Published by Vagabundo Music Publishing (A0.1178488). The current pianistic postminimalism draws heavily from Ambient music, this is how it tries to build surfaces. We hear it in popular figures such as Max Richter, Hania Arani, Olafur Arnalds or Nils Frahm. In the Silencios Fatuos (2021) by Colombian composer Julián De La Chica, this search seems to find threads that weave with the phosphorescent and radioactive shadows left by the twentieth century, and to which we return when listening to the flashes of sonorities that refer us to Ryuichi Sakamoto or David Sylvian. In previous productions, such as the  Preludes Op. 8, and his Voyeuristic Images Op. 10, De La Chica's pianism shows a constant exploration and research. The composer-pianist urges within the parameters of the new simplicity, challenging himself in a kind of minimal eroticism. In Silencios fatuos the artist gradually sheds his skins, confronting the very fatuity of postminimalism. And in this way, he seems to sprout abstaining from any violent rebellion, in a kind of superfluity, allowing the passage of time, building surfaces with curved lines that twist on themselves without noise, without groans, contemplating the absurd with an unsettling serenity.— Susan Campos-Fonseca, PhDMusicologist & composer

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Digital Download SKU: A0.1180858 Composed by Julián De La Chica. 20th Century,Classical,Opera. Score. 62 pages. Vagabundo Music Publishing #780716. Published by Vagabundo Music Publishing (A0.1180858). MUSIC NOTES:Poemas de Bar is at the same time a cycle of deceptive simplicity. Each song suggests the bare outlines of a complex scenario of relationships, layers of memory filtered through the straightforward poetry. Musically, De La Chica knows how to use space and the weight of silence to load the most commonplace chords with aching resonance. Preconceived musical entities like “dissonance†or a jazz riff become sealed in a kind of sonic amber—objects in themselves. — Thomas May.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Digital Download SKU: A0.1182309 Composed by Julián De La Chica. Classical,Opera,Spiritual. Score. 56 pages. Vagabundo Music Publishing #782045. Published by Vagabundo Music Publishing (A0.1182309). MUSIC NOTES:How does Julián De La Chica materialize the question of “being†in sound? Through text and music as sound material: the choice of the German tongue as a philosophic language; in its sonority, the reference to the tradition of Lieder, a form where word and sound construct a system of meanings in search of the essential. Materializing it through sound, the works achieve this “concentration†of the essential, guided by the question of the “being.†But, how do they achieve it? Long phrases, almost Gregorian rhythmicity, recuperate the capacity for enunciation born of medieval liturgical chant and Buddhist mantras. The concentration of power in the invoked words – to enunciate is to make real what is invoked. The essence is enunciated in the concept, in the construction of the enunciations that constitute the exoskeleton of these songs. The sound materializes the concept; it is sound that creates reality. The sound is in the center of the congealed hurricane. A person that asks the question of “beingâ€, stops time. Their presence is now; only the now exists. That instant is nonetheless a whirlwind that in the meditative act stops in front of the asking person and contemplates their mortal state, unappealable: the state of mortality as illumination. — Susan Campos-Fonseca.
