By Frederic Chopin. By FreÌdeÌric Chopin. Arranged by Brian Streckfus. 19th Century,Contemporary,Instructional,Romantic Period. Guitar Tab. 2 pages. Brian Streckfus #781456. Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1181680).

Disclaimer: This is a two page excerpt with mostly only the beginning and end of the original piece. This is still a work in progress, the middle section is going to be difficult, if not impossible on guitar. Some may see this as more of an homage to Chopin rather than a historically accurate version. That being said, both this arrangement and the original are incredible pieces of music, and it may be my favorite piece of all time, and I think jaws would drop if the average person hears a guitarist effortlessly playing Chopin as if it was meant for guitar.

1.
Arranged for guitar.
2. Guitar Tablature added.
3. Key changed
4. Notes removed and and inverted chords changed to be idiomatic for guitar.
5. Slurs added.
6. Chord nomenclature added.
7. Piano pedal and phrase markings are a bit unnecessary for a guitarist so they are not included. Slurs and ties are more important for a guitarist, so I don't want a ton of swoops symbols obscuring slurs and ties.

As with the other Chopin arrangement I made, I want super romantic music while making sure it isn't super difficult to play. If I wanted a super hard version, I would just find the public domain version and read treble and bass clef in a difficult key for free. There could also be a lot more mantaining of historical accuracy if this was arranged for a 7 or 8 string guitar. Having a low E and Eb would really changed the trajectory of the arrangement. Sure a guitar can play an Eb chord, but it always sounds too high pitched, when really the original has a low powerful bass note as the music inflects a different key. So that's why I took some liberty with the bass notes for guitar. It's incredibly grimy sounding even though A minor isn't typically seen as a dark and low key.

Tips:
1. A Bb chord in the key of a minor is an example of a Neopolitan chord, named after a city in Italy. This is one main essence of Chopin, and constantly using them allows him to really toy around with the key and suspense.

To Do:
1. Measure 10 is glitched out. Sorry. It is correct in a way but it is strangely spaced. It is a challenge because at times it looks like measures have the incorrect amount of beats, but I think Chopin's freedom of rhythm is the reason why, and bizarre triplets and quintuplets are being forced into the measure.
2. Combination version without tab?
3. The full piece?
4. Add rhythm to tab?

Composed by Frederic Chopin. Arranged by Jhavilah. 19th Century,Classical,Lent,Romantic Period,Soul. 4 pages. Jhavilah #1016277. Published by Jhavilah (A0.1436125).

Frédéric Chopin's Prelude Op. 28, No. 4, is a masterpiece of brevity and emotional depth. Often referred to as the Suffocation Prelude, it is a short yet intensely expressive piece, reflecting Chopin's unparalleled ability to convey profound emotions in a compact form.

Composed in 1839, this prelude is written in E minor and features a slow, mournful melody over a repetitive left-hand accompaniment. The piece begins with a simple, descending chromatic pattern in the right hand, which is then echoed by the left hand. This pattern repeats throughout the piece, creating a sense of relentless, suffocating despair.

Despite its brevity, Chopin's Prelude Op. 28, No. 4, is rich in emotion and musical depth. The melancholic melody, combined with the hypnotic accompaniment, creates a hauntingly beautiful piece that leaves a lasting impression on the listener. It is a testament to Chopin's genius that he was able to evoke such intense emotion in just over two minutes of music.

The piece is often interpreted as a reflection of Chopin's own struggles with illness and mortality, as well as his experiences of exile from his native Poland. Whatever the inspiration behind it, Prelude Op. 28, No. 4, remains one of Chopin's most beloved and enduring works, continuing to captivate and move audiences more than 180 years after it was written.

Composed by Frederik François Chopin (1810-1949). Arranged by James Strauss. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 33 pages. James Strauss #5806027. Published by James Strauss (A0.1035224).

Unless your name is Mozart, Mendelssohn or Korngold, the first compositional steps are always the hardest. Chopin was probably no older than 14 when he set to work on a set of variations for piano and flute. Already in love with opera, he decided on the happy- ending aria, Non più mesta (No longer sad) from Rossini’s opera Cinderella. As the curtain comes down, Cinderella gleefully warbles, No longer sad beside the fire shall I sit alone, singing; my long years of heartache were but a streak of lightning, a dream, a game. We are unsure what actually prompted Chopin to select this for his unique combination of flute and piano, but it was most likely written for the composer’s father who was a capable amateur flute player. In the end, the piece was probably dedicated to Józef Cichowski, a close friend of his fathers and an amateur flautist as well. We are indeed fortunate that this early piece of Chopin juvenilia has actually survived, as Jozef Nowakowski, one of the composer’s friends, kept the single manuscript copy as a memento. For one reason or another, the work did not appear in print until 1953. This charming and fluent set of variations presents the theme and four decorated versions of the original tune. Added triplet figuration enlivens the first variation, while the second relies on a florid bel canto style to embellish the theme. Rapid downward arpeggios propel variation three, and the concluding variant displays rapid staccato figuration. Stylistically, there is nothing in this composition to suggest Chopin’s hand. You certainly won’t hear Chopin’s fingerprint in the piano part, as all the interesting bits are given to the flute. In addition, it’s the only Chopin piano part that can comfortably be played by most amateurs. Clearly, the future poet of the piano had a long way to go! Here in a Flute and orchestra version.

Fantasie Impromptu is one of the most iconic solo instrumental pieces for pianists around the world. Fantasie Impromptu was written almost 200 years ago by Frederic Chopin (1834). Actually, this work was never published by Chopin. Julian Fontana was the first to publish it.

More than 100 years later (1960), Arthur Rubenstein, in a piano recording session of this composition, discovered through an original sheet written by Chopin himself, that this work was a work that had been completed. Inside it is written, composed for, which shows that this work was an order from a nobleman. Chopin was paid to write this. So this is the reason this work was never published.

And unfortunately, during the lifetime of two giants in guitar composition and arrangement: F. Tarrega & Agustin Barrios, for some reason, they did not transcribe this great work into guitar playing. In fact, both of them are recorded as having transcribed several Chopin works onto the guitar. And now, after almost old 200 years, this is the most complete guitar transcription from Fantasie Impromptu written by Tondi Rangkuti a.k.a Tondi FR. Written in Key Bm on movt. 1 and B Major in movt 2. Of course this arrangement is intended for the Advanced - Intermediate level. Very suitable for playing at concerts & international guitar competitions.

The mazurka was Chopin's companion throughout his entire artistic life: He wrote the Mazurka in A minor Op. 68 at the age of seventeen, and even his very last composition was dedicated to this Polish dance form. 'Chopin unleashed the unknown poetry which was only suggested in the original themes of the true national mazurkas. Maintaining their rhythm, he refined the melody, expanded the proportions and introduced a harmonic contrast that was as new as the objects to which he adjusted it…' (F. Liszt). Music teachers -- piano, vocal, or music theatre! Are you wondering how to pique the interest of your students (and their recital audiences) in the heightened and ever shifting musical emotionalism of the Romantic style, while staying relevant to today by using a timeless story that arrests their attention? Do you need an expressive recital piece that will demonstrate your students' abilities in a wide range of expression? The solution to both of these problems is this dramatic piano-vocal arrangement of Behind The Maestro's Mask, from Revelation & Restoration's musical The Maestro's Mask: The Untold Story of the Opera Ghost.
The song allows intermediate singers to moderately challenge their vocal emotional expression, and you may wish to accompany them yourself on the piano, yet it's also useful as an instrumental solo piece for a piano student. With music based on the A-C sections of Chopin's Polonaise, Op. 26, No. 1 in C# minor and Db major, but transposed and adapted in the easier keys of G minor and G major, this piece will act as a step up for your moderately advanced piano student, preparing for Chopin's work. (There are significant differences between this song and Chopin's Polonaise, particularly on pages 1 and 8-11.)
Disclaimer: This piece quotes from Frédéric Chopin's public domain work,
Polonaise, Op. 26, No. 1 and is part of Revelation & Restoration's musical The Maestro's Mask: The Untold Story of the Opera Ghost, which is based on a sequel to Gaston LeRoux's public domain novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra. The musical is not a sequel to Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical version of The Phantom of the Opera. Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Paul Thurmond. 20th Century,Christian,Classical,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Paul Thurmond #4969035. Published by Paul Thurmond (A0.828246).

Tune: HYMN TO JOY

Use: Prelude

Hymn to Joy is the main theme of the last movement of Ludwig van Beethoven’s most famous work, his Ninth Symphony, which premiered in 1824, only three years before his death. The tune has been paired with several different hymn texts, but the most popular one in most churches is Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.

Just six years later, around 1830, a young Polish composer living in Paris, Frédéric Chopin, composed his most famous work, the Nocturne in E-flat major. It’s a piece that’s beloved by pianists for its lovely melody set over a widely spaced accompaniment. The tune gets considerably more complex as it goes on.

My setting goes through the melody three times. The first and third sections are fast, and are built on a kind of arpeggio-pattern-with-a-melody-on-top that Chopin was fond of using. The slow section in the middle starts with a total ripoff of the opening of Chopin’s Nocturne; it’s even in the same key! Instead of Chopin’s melody, though, I use Beethoven’s, and develop the tune as Chopin did, beginning plainly, then becoming increasingly ornate.

This piece was a blast to write, and I hope you enjoy it, too.

This arrangement of Variation II from Frédéric Chopin's popular Variations on a Theme by Rossini, sounds more like the mature Chopin. Chopin wrote the Variations at age 14, probably for his father (an amateur flutist) or one of his father's friends. In this version, John Sawoski creates a virtuosic and advanced accompaniment in an idion that resembles Chopin's later compositional style, and includes a more fluid and advanced flute part as performed by Peter Sheridan.

Frédéric Chopin (1810–1849)

Chopin was born in Poland but spent his twenty or so creative years based in Paris. With his supreme mastery of the keyboard and inimitable compositions for the instrument he became a luminary of the Romantic era. Afflicted early on by consumption, he worked with a tireless intensity to produce piano compositions both intricate and perfect, of every style and mood. Pears Cyclopaedia makes this discerning tribute: ‘A Chopin melody, limpid, transparent, singing, can be recognised easily by anyone, but his style gradually developed into something more subtle, more satisfying than pure melody.’

The Andante spianato (spianato means 'smooth') was composed in 1834 as an introduction to the Grande polonaise brilliante. The quiet introductory section of the Andante, in 6/8, is rounded by a chordal trio and a more processional 3/4. A serene middle section adds contrast, floating through upper octaves in quintessential Chopin style.

Prelude 14 in D# Minor Dorian from 24 Preludes for the Piano in Major and Minor Modes by composer Brian Golden

The creative concept in writing these preludes is to provide a link to past preludes written for the keyboard, and in particular to the works of J.S. Bach and Frederic Chopin, whose works stand as essential repertoire for any student of the piano.  Using Bach’s and Chopin’s examples, my goal was to compose in all twenty-four keys, yet offer my own variation on the progression of key signatures – Bach’s being a pattern of major to parallel minor progressing chromatically through all keys, and Chopin’s a pattern of major to relative minor keys progressing clockwise through the circle of fifths.  In order to expand my harmonic and melodic possibilities, I have included the modal keys rather than only the major and harmonic minor keys, and have chosen to work counterclockwise through the circle of fifths, which is a more natural harmonic progression.  Therefore, all major preludes resolve from one to another V-I, as well as do all the minor preludes.
While there are seven modal scales, I decided to leave out the locrian modes for the following reasons.  First, due to the diminished fifth, the locrian mode cannot be thought of as either major nor minor.  Second, the locrian mode did not have a relative key to pair with, since there were no other keys with the identical characteristic notes.
In creating the key architecture, I determined that there was only one solution to pairing major and relative minor scales based on a shared parent key and characteristic note - ionian/aolian, mixolydian/phrygian and lydian/dorian.  This specific order of modal scales is the only order that would enable composing in all twelve key signatures.  Finally, the inspiration for each prelude came from playing through several other preludes in the same keys - mostly by Bach and Chopin - and letting their themes and styles influence me in the writing of my own.

Étude Op. 10, No. 3 is a study for solo piano composed by Frédéric Chopin in 1832. This is a slow cantabile study for polyphonic and expressive legato playing. In fact, Chopin himself believed the melody of the piece to be the most beautiful one he ever composed. It became famous through numerous popular arrangements. Although this étude is sometimes identified by the names Tristesse (Sadness) or Farewell (L'Adieu), neither is a name given by Chopin, but rather his critics. This arrangement for alto saxophone with piano accompaniment reflects faithfully the original and is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.
