Geared for 2nd or 3rd year saxophone students, this arrangement of one of Chopin's most popular compositions is transposed from the original E major to the more sax-friendly key of (written) F major (concert Ab for altos or concert Eb for tenors). Chopin himself is said to have considered this to be his loveliest melody. The entire duet can be played from the score without turning a page, so individual parts are not needed. Chopin wrote a number of preludes for piano solo. His cycle of 24 Preludes, Op. 28, covers all major and minor keys.

In addition, Chopin wrote three other preludes: a prelude in C? minor, Op. 45; a piece in A? major from 1834; and an unfinished piece in E? minor. These are sometimes referred to as Nos. 25, 26, and 27, respectively.

This is a selection of 4 of his shorter ones.

Arranged wind quintet

They are:

  1. No. 4 in E minor
  2. No. 7 in A
  3. No. 6 in B minor
  4. No. 20 in C minor
The first 3 have been transposed into easier keys for wind instruments.

Obs.: This piece is part of the Four Mazurkas, Op. 67 posthumously published in 1855. This particular mazurka was composed in 1835. Chopin dedicated it to M-e. Hoffman.
The mazurka is a traditional national dance of Poland. Typically, it has three beats per measure, and the second beat is to be slightly accentuated.
Chopin wrote over fifty mazurkas for the piano, and this is one of the shortest.
