Published by Tully Road Music (A0.1348280). “Du bist die Ruh’†(D. 776; Op. 59, No. 3) is one of many Lieder for solo voice and piano written by Franz Schubert (1797-1828), with text by Friedrich Rückert (1788-1866). Although Rückert did not originally give the poem a title, Schubert titled his song after its first line, “Du bist die Ruh’,†and Rückert later titled his poem “Kehr ein bei mir,†or “Stay with me.†With a simple yet beautiful melody, sung with a seemingly uninterrupted legato, Schubert conveys the sense of “calm†and “peace†the poet feels in the companionship of his beloved. So many of the Lieder by 19th-century composers like Schubert and Schumann, chief proponents of the genre, lend themselves well to rearrangement for multiple voices. Here, D. Jason Bishop makes one of the most frequently performed German Lieder available to tenor-bass ensembles in a TTB arrangement that preserves both the melodic integrity of the song as well as its original piano accompaniment. Dance the Night is a disco / synth-pop song by Dua Lipa from the soundtrack to the 2023 movie, Barbie. It was co-written with Caroline Ailin, Andrew Wyatt and Mark Ronson, with the Picard Brothers also contributing to production. It is inspired by a dance sequence in the movie, and is about always trying to appear perfect.Arranged in 2024 by Rebecca (Boo) de Bruin. 8 pages for Sweet Adelines (ladies' barbershop) quartet. (Tenor, lead, baritone, bass are roughly equivalent to SSAA). Please note: in keeping with normal barbershop practice, an octave-shifted bass clef is used for the baritone and bass parts (roughly equivalent to alto 1 and alto 2).Vocal ranges are:Tenor (S1): F#4 - D5 (F# above middle C to D above high C)Lead (S2): A3 - B4 (A below middle C to B above middle C). Baritone (A1): B3 - A5 (B below middle C to A above middle C)Bass: D3 - F#4 (D below middle C to F# above middle C). NB the only low D is sung in octaves with the higher parts, and the bass could sing in unison. Alternatively, the entire arrangement sits quite low and could easily be pitched up.

Octavo Available www.jenwagnermusic.com  p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Baskerville; color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke: #000000} span.s1 {font-kerning: none} The text Lacrimósa is taken from the Dies Irae sequence in the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass.  The piece is composed in three sections, representative of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  The close harmonies create the mournful emotional tension.  Word painting and story telling is apparent throughout, especially in passages such as resúrget, in which a solo soprano soars above the choir representing the ascension to heaven, and the repeated Lacrimósa, paints an image of tears falling down ones face.  A sense of urgency begins to build in the  Judicándus section, and the melodic and harmonic structure changes.  As the harmonies build and tempo increases you can feel the fear of the unknown future which lies ahead.  Begging and pleading for forgiveness ensues as the voices call out, párce Déus, to be seated at the Father’s side. As the tension builds and harmonies become more complex the piece escalates to its climax and comes to an abrupt end. After a slight pause, the calm settles in.  Judgement has been passed and the tenors transition us to the Píe Jésu section with Dóna éis réquiem, surrounded by the return of the melodic motif meant to appear as the angels delivering the assurances of God’s mercifulness.  The final phrase dóna éis réquiem, is sung with cross voicing found in the tenor and bass section representing the ascension to heaven as the harmonies settle into their final resting place.

This is an Introit and Benediction.  The Introit, Rise Up, is best suited for Easter, with all the pomp and flourish, with brass quintet and timpani.  The benediction, May The Road Rise To Greet You, uses the text of the Gaelic Blessing, with a few word changes, with piano accompaniment.  The level for these would be intermediate or more.  I maintained the grand processional style for the Introit and wrote a lighter style for the benediction.  The benediction could be done anytime during the year.  Several have adopted it as their standard benediction.  I hope you enjoy them.  I also have a version that is for organ and piano only, no brass(the organ does the brass parts, modified) in case your budget is slim.
