Choral Choir (SA) - Digital Download

SKU: A0.561597

Composed by Charles Dickens, Samuel Stokes, William C. Dix, and William Morris. Arranged by SamuelStokesMusic.com. Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Hip-Hop,Musical/Show. Octavo. 47 pages. SamuelStokesMusic.com #3567955. Published by SamuelStokesMusic.com (A0.561597).

EBENEZER is a one-act musical based on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The music is a blend of hip-hop and traditional Christmas carols. The adaptation is suitable for performance by adults or teens alike. Four of the lead roles take on the greatest musical challenge with their rap numbers, but the choir parts are more generally accessible as they are based on familiar carols, making the musical appropriate for colleges, high schools, middle schools, church groups, and community theatre groups.

This libretto contains the full play script and vocal sheet music.  Purchase of this libretto kit entitles the purchaser to reproduce the appropriate number of copies for the cast and crew of the production.  Please note that royalties must also be paid for each performance (visit https://www.SamuelStokesMusic.com for royalty information).  The musical is scored for 2-part choir and rap soloists with MP3 accompaniment tracks (available separately). If desired, the musical can also be performed with unison choir singing the melody only. There is the also the optional opportunity for two violins to perform onstage and for a percussionist to play the chimes offstage (MP3 tracks are also available for these underscoring cues).

The musical demo available on this page is an excerpt from the number Jacob Marley - O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, in which Ebenezer Scrooge's former partner returns from the dead to warn him that he must change his ways or suffer the fate of eternally roaming the earth in chains. There is also a teaser video of this musical number at: https://youtu.be/4nPryAZUnDY

Note on printing: this libretto has been formatted with pages intentionally left blank, so that it can be printed properly on the front and back of the paper. Also, there are one-inch margins on the left and right for ease of binding into folders or binders.

Composed by John Jacob Niles. Arranged by Joel Jacklich (ASCAP). Chamber,Christmas,Folk,Holiday,Traditional. 11 pages. Joel Jacklich #901221. Published by Joel Jacklich (A0.1312368).

I Wonder as I Wander by John Jacob Niles is here arranged by Joel Jacklich (ASCAP) for voice and string quartet.

à Wonder as I Wander nis a Christian folk hymn, typically performed as a Christmas carol, written by American folklorist and singer John Jacob Niles. The hymn has its origins in a song fragment collected by Niles on July 16, 1933.[1][2][3][4][5]

While in the town of Murphy in Appalachian North Carolina, Niles attended a fundraising meeting held by evangelicals who had been ordered out of town by the police.[1][5] In his unpublished autobiography, he wrote of hearing the song:

A girl had stepped out to the edge of the little platform attached to the automobile. She began to sing. Her clothes were unbelievable dirty and ragged, and she, too, was unwashed. Her ash-blond hair hung down in long skeins. ... But, best of all, she was beautiful, and in her untutored way, she could sing. She smiled as she sang, smiled rather sadly, and sang only a single line of a song.[2]

The girl, named Annie Morgan, repeated the fragment seven times in exchange for a quarter per performance, and Niles left with three lines of verse, a garbled fragment of melodic material—and a magnificent idea.[2][5] (In various accounts of this story, Niles hears between one and three lines of the song.[2][4][5][6]) Based on this fragment, Niles composed the version of I Wonder as I Wander that is known today, extending the melody to four lines and the lyrics to three stanzas.[2][3][5] His composition was completed on October 4, 1933.[2] Niles first performed the song on December 19, 1933, at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina.[2][6] It was originally published in Songs of the Hill Folk in 1934.[4][6]

Duets are great for musical development. They're also great fun! The trouble is, there aren't a lot of duets available for beginning and intermediate musicians. The Lipslur.com Duets for Band and Orchestra are here to solve that problem. The first volume of 50 duets contains famous hymns, Christmas carols, and patriotic songs like Amazing Grace, Joy to the World, and My Country, 'Tis of Thee. They are in a comfortable range for each instrument. Additionally, there are YouTube videos of professional musicians playing these parts - just go to YouTube and search for lipslur.com. You can even put these duets together with other books in the series to make trios and quartets. For example, if you put the first flute, second alto sax, second tenor sax, and second trombone parts together, you would have four-part harmony! Whether you're playing the parts by yourself, playing with your friends or your teacher, or playing along with the videos, we know this music will help you improve and have fun at the same time.

Composed by James L Pierpont, James R Murray, and John W Work Jnr. Arranged by Nigel Williams. Christmas,Folk,Instructional. 12 pages. Nigel Williams #4756289. Published by Nigel Williams (A0.763316).

Three iconic American Christmas carols arranged for two violins and a cello. Each instrument has a melody part which makes this arrangement appealing to performers. The march-like Go Tell It On The Mountain gives way to a gentle lullaby-like Away In A Manger, The cello pizz providing a gentle sense of rocking. The tempo picks up with Jingle Bells, leading to a slightly less predictable, but satisfying, final cadence. The performance duration is close to four and a half minutes and the full score has individual parts attached. Some phrasing has been suggested, but as always, use your discretion. This arrangement is well suited to high school string players and church music groups looking for new repertoire across the Christmas season. .

This collection includes nine different Christmas carols, all arranged in a four-part chorale style akin to that of baroque composers such as J. S. Bach. Included in this collection are arrangements of the following carols: Veni, Veni, Emmanuel; Es Ist Ein Rose Entsprungen (Lo, how a rose e'er blooming); Coventry Carol; Adeste Fidelis (O Come, All Ye Faithful); In Dulci Jubilo; Good King Wenceslas; God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen; Quelle est cette odeur agréable; and See, amid the Winter's Snow. These arrangements are all fairly easy and should be appropriate for a wide range of skill levels, including school settings. For more music from Aaron Lee, you can visit www.MusicOfLee.com.

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Wendy Loder, ASCAP. Chamber,Christmas,Holiday,Instructional,Traditional. 4 pages. LarkAngel Productions #702283. Published by LarkAngel Productions (A0.1098419).

Four traditional Christmas Carols (We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Ukranian Bell Carol, What Child is This (Greensleeves), and We Three Kings are arranged here for 2 violins. I arranged these to play with students, so the 2nd part is more complex while the 1st violin part mainly gets the melody. We Wish You a Merry Christmas is arranged as a Canon so it's a great teaching piece with more equal parts. Most of the melodies stay in first position. Any of the songs can be played separately, but I called it a medley because the keys of each song go well together!
