Meet Mister Rumble! He is the mischievous antagonist rat in the Puddle Jumpin' Songbook Collection. Mr. Rumble tricks the Puddle Jumpin' children, as well as his sidekicks Fidget, a nervous rabbit who eats carrots to calm herself, and Scratch, an incomprehensibly dumb mole who believes everything he is told, especially by Mr. Rumble. In this song, with lyrics and melody by JC Yount and spritely accompaniment by Harrison Fisher and JC Yount, Mr. Rumble introduces himself as the one who gobbles up the garden of love. His theme returns several times in Puddle Jumpin', the first songbook in the series of five in The Puddle Jumpin' Songbook Collection. In the second songbook, an alphabet songbook, Mr. Rumble hides the alphabet in a junkyard and the children are tasked to find all the letters in this work, also illustrated, The Junkyard Alphabet. Mr. Rumble has a tough time deceiving the children, an endless frustration for this comical, lively character. The children always know when Mr. Rumble is coming, as the accompanying bassoon always gives him away!
