SATB chorus divisi and soloist a cappella - Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.AHM-16-E Composed by Christopher Aspaas. 4 pages. Aspen Hill Music - Digital #AHM-16-E. Published by Aspen Hill Music - Digital (MQ.AHM-16-E). English. This introit drawn from the Byzantine tradition sets a text in Church Slavonic over a simple drone. A solo voice and aleatoric verse provide a unique set of textures to open any concert or worship and music event. This setting makes for an excellent introit or processional with the choristers either in performance position or in the round. Begin with the tenors and basses in drone on the given pitches on either a hum or pure vowel such as [u] or [É‘]. All sopranos and altos should sing the melody in unison once through, followed by a male soloist who should sing the melody from the back of the performance space and move forward as he sings. The third and final iteration of the melody should be the sopranos and altos singing through each phrase in an aleatoric style. After the final release, one could move directly into an anthem such as Tebye poyem of Rachmaninoff. The key of this piece should be adjusted to fit the needs of the ensemble and program.

English.Music Makers, Dreamers of Dreams was commissioned by One Voice Mixed Chorus, Minnesota's own and North America's largest LGBT and straight allies chorus under the direction of Jane Ramseyer Miller. The text is a combination of Arthur O'Shaughnessy's Ode, Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass and an anonymous text spoken at a GALA national conference: We have started a song and it cannot stop. Originally set for baritone soloist, piano, cello and SATB choir, the work seeks to empower singers of all ages through this stirring text setting. This version for tenor/bass voices was commissioned by the Southern California Vocal Association for the 2016 Men's Honor Choir.

SSAA choir and piano - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.AHM-22-E Composed by Christopher Aspaas. Christmas. Instrument part. 16 pages. Aspen Hill Music - Digital #AHM-22-E. Published by Aspen Hill Music - Digital (MQ.AHM-22-E). English. This setting of ‘Twas in the Moon of Wintertime was created for the Manitou Singers of St. Olaf College and their conductor, Dr. Therees Tkach Hibbard. I was asked to re-arrange my SATB setting of the same tune and text (published by earthsongs) but could not come up with a workable solution. Instead, I started over with a setting for accompanied treble choir and viola knowing the skill and musicianship of violist Dr. Charles Gray, Professor of Music (Viola, Violin, String Literature and Pedagogy). Three tunes are incorporated in this arrangement: Une Jeune Pucelle; Vom Himmel Hoch; and, Veni, Emmanuel. The first tune, Une Jeune Pucelle, is the ‘Twas in the Moon of Wintertime melody, and first appears in fragments within the opening viola solo. The second theme, Vom Himmel Hoch, is found in the viola part in measure 30, and implies the text, “From heaven above to earth I come To bear good news to every home; Glad tidings of great joy I bring, Whereof I now will say and sing...†which matches the unfolding drama of the ‘Twas in the Moon story. The third tune, Veni, Emmanuel, comes in response to the viola solo with the interjection: “Rejoice, rejoice, Emmanuel, shall come to you, O Israel.â€.
