The idea for the beginning motif came when I was simply at a piano and began playing around with chords based on quintal harmonies, chords built off of perfect fifths instead of the usual major or minor third. When I wrote this piece, I thought of a scene in which a pair of beings, one with a masculine energy and the other feminine, were dancing quite literally in the clouds. In the B section, the pair holds one another tightly as they share memories of one another, some fond and some bittersweet, before returning to their waltz. In the D section, the feminine being goes her own way and dances solo with a sense of vigor and raw passion. She goes a little too hard and trips, falling on the ground. The masculine being comes to her aid and gets her back on her feet, returning to their waltz once more. By the end, the sun sets and they part ways, sharing a tender embrace and a kiss goodbye.

Bach, from his Cantata 147 (BWV 147), “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,� is rendered here in a setting for FLUTE (or any acceptable C Instrument), TROMBONE, ORGAN (reduction of Bach’s 2nd Violin and Viola Parts; both 2- and 3-staff scores, whichever the player finds easiest to read, are provided) and S.A.T.B. They are a contemporary arrangement of movements from  the Five Wind Divertimentos for 3 basset horns, K. 439b which Mozart wrote in 1783.The Divertimentos are notable for their conciseness of form and their melodic richness. Each divertimento has 5 mvts They therefore make an excellent introduction to Mozart's piano music, even though they are not completely typical of Mozart's piano writing. We do not know for certain who made the arrangement, but Alexander Weinmann has shown that it was probably Ferdinand Kauer. The order of movements is not the same as in the original; moreover, some of the Trios have been exchanged and recapitulations have been shortened in some instances.Thry are in varying keys, unlike the original divertimenti, so my arrangements reflect thus.This is my arrangement for wind quintet of No.6 in C major.The original 3 parts have been reallocated around the quintet, with some octave and harmony additions.I have added an original natural horn part for a more authentic Mozart sound.

My Prelude on the tune Dix (For the Beauty of the Earth) is intended for church pianists looking for interesting arrangements of hymns familiar to their congregations.  This exuberant setting in a conservatively modern style draws its energy from an almost constant stream of seventh-chord sonorities in the left hand accompaniment.  The melody, sometimes unadorned and sometimes ornamented, contributes to the forward motion with the frequent appearance of a dotted eighth/sixteenth rhythmic pattern.  Bitonal harmony is implied near the end of the piece.  I have provided a full-length recording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process.  I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music Direct website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for piano.

Rachmaninov's beautiful All-night Vigil (aka Songs of the Church) is rarely performed because of its level of difficulty, language, and length. The music is transcendent and perfectly suited for celebrations of the Presentation of the Lord (February 2), evening prayer, and funerals. This selection, No. 5 of 15 in the work, is taken from the 1920 English translation by Winfred Douglas and is well-suited as a solo piece. The choral parts were easily translated into an accompaniment on organ, although piano can be used. The movement is transposed down a fifth and is suited for an alto or bass. This arrangement is also available in Bb minor (original key) and G minor for higher voices. This piece would also work as a unison choir piece.
