Though he anticipated life in Aknir was rough, he never considered that the real monsters in life may actually be the 'civilized' beings he swore to protect. This leaves Skamos shaken, unsure if his path in life is still righteous. The Virtuous: Skamos has overcome many of his uncertainties and has become self actualized. He has meditated on the concepts of life, death, and love and discovers there is more to life than simple heroism, and accepts that the simple pleasures in life are best shared.

Written by the American jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius, this atmospheric composition soon established itself as a bass standard and a benchmark for other players to aspire to. Jaco's composition has been sensitivley scored for three soprano saxophones and one baritone. This is perhaps an unusual choice of piece to transcibe for saxophone quartet but with the right aproach to performance, it lends itself well to this kind of ensemble. The three sopranos play the high floating bass harmonics, while the baritone holds down the pulse provided by the lower strings of the instrument. The four players will need to demonstrate incredible control, balance and ensemble flexibility, to create the right relaxed ambience for the music to sound natural. Flight of the Bumblebee is an orchestral interlude written by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov for his opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan, composed in 1899–1900. Its composition is intended to musically evoke the seemingly chaotic and rapidly changing flying pattern of a bumblebee. Despite the piece's being a rather incidental part of the opera, it is today one of the more familiar classical works because of its frequent use in popular culture. The piece closes Act III, Tableau 1, during which the magic Swan-Bird changes Prince Gvidon Saltanovich (the Tsar's son) into an insect so that he can fly away to visit his father (who does not know that he is alive). The duration of this is 2.07 minutes and it is a difficult level piece.

Sheba, the powerful Queen and her entourage travels to the Holy Temple in Jerusalem to meet the wise King Solomon.  Tradition states that after Solomon correctly answered riddled that she asked, a romance developed.  From this encounter Sheba bore Solomon's child, King Menelek, the founder of the Ethiopian empire. This arrangement of about 2 minutes in length, for Brass Quintet with optional timpani is for advanced performers.  The 1st B-flat Trumpet part can be performed on Piccolo Trumpet or E-flat trumpet. The work has a joyous, regal and fanfare-like feel.

Adrian Le Roy and his cousin Robert Ballard founded the printing firm Le Roy & Ballard, and in August 1551 obtained a royal privilege from Henry II to print music. In February 1553, the company was awarded the title of imprimeur du Roi en musique. Over the following two decades, other rival companies dropped out of the market, and from the 1570s onwards Le Roy & Ballard enjoyed a virtual monopoly in music publishing. The publishing house lasted until the 19th century. While Robert Ballard looked after the business side, Le Roy was the artistic director. He achieved renown as a composer and arranger of songs and instrumentals, his published work includes at least six books of tablature for the lute, 5 volumes for the guitar, and arrangements for the cittern. These compositions are presented in the same order as they appeared in the original work published in Paris by Le Roy et Ballard. They were transcribed from a facsimile edition of the original manuscript and every effort has been made to transcribe the original tablature into modern, easy-to-play, tablature and notation.

This new work was premiered at the Royal Albert Hall at The Coronation Prom on the date of His Majesty The King's Coronation by soprano Joanne Lunn and the All Souls Orchestra.  This imaginative arrangement of 'When I Survey the Wondrous Cross' with the final verse of 'Love Divine, All Loves Excelling' for soprano solo and orchestra begins with a pianissimo muted string texture as we fix our eyes upon the cross of Christ before crescendoing to a glorious finale in which we lay our crowns before the King of all Creation.  This would be a perfect addition to a concert with full symphony orchestra and a soprano soloist with an extensive vocal range.  If desired, the top vocal C in the final verse in bar 123 may be replaced by holding the top A across the full beat.

The Fantasia on CWM Rhondda is structured as a long crescendo, building incrementally from a piano dynamic to forte fortissimo.  Along the way several key changes contribute to the sense of growth, beginning in G major and ending in E-flat major.  Imitative processes increase the perception of forward motion, culminating in a grandiose harmonization of the second half of the hymn tune, accompanied by a rhythmic ostinato played by the feet.  I have provided a full-length reording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process.  I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music Direct website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for piano.
