Abendlied (Evening Song) is from a cycle of 12 piano duets, Op. 85, written in 1849, a particularly prolific year of composition for Schumann. The great Hungarian violinist Joseph Joachim took the final number, consisting merely of a completely unpianistic one-handed melody with chordal accompaniment for two hands, and arranged it for violin, oboe or flute. The present arrangement expands that list of instruments to include the Soprano Saxophone, in its infancy at the time the piece was composed. An alternate part for Alto Saxophone is also included. The soaring, free melody is reminiscent of Schumann’s Manfred music, written around the same time. This piece is very demanding in terms of breath control and phrasing. O Sing To The Lord A New Song is a setting of the complete text of Psalm 98.  It was the students' favorite piece on its premiere concert in March of 2013.  The piece has become a staple of their repertoire, has been the capstone piece of their 2013 through 2017 tours and has been sung most every year by the Genevans since its premiere.  The voicing is SSAATTBB, for acapella choir and includes the rehearsal piano part.     It is a fantastic anthem for celebrations or a rousing way to start or end your concert.

This movement features solo space for Piano and Trumpet.3.Reflection This movement features a small vocal group, including some of the singers who were present at the 2015 performance in ANZAC Cove, and a reading of the poem that became the lyrics of the song. 4.Hymn The final movement presents the theme in close to its original form, although extensively re-harmonised.
