Instructional,Jazz. 193 pages. Tony Benade #3503099. Published by Tony Benade (A0.809104). Jazz, The Language of Music is a comprehensive study that is presented in three parts. Each section contains the essential elements the student of jazz must know which are The Fundamentals of Jazz Theory,Common Chord Progressions of Jazz Standards and Creating Jazz Phrases. This is for the individual who is very serious about learning the art of improvising. It begins with the necessary musical theory needed to play jazz followed by the common chord progressions that would  be encountered in the jazz standards. And finally, the actual process of creating jazz phrases. This method was created by a professional jazz musician who has spent over 50 years performing jazz as well as a jazz educator. This method that has been used for several decades and has produced several young students and hobbyists who have become professional musicians. It is not a quick and easy 20 minute type of study. It does require commitment and a strong desire to perform jazz like the many jazz greats of the past. There is no magic or mystery involved, just the right information presented in an easy to understand format. If your are a serious student of jazz, then this is for you.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Clarinet - Digital Download SKU: A0.984321 Composed by Erik Satie, Johan de Wit, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Johan de Wit. Baroque,Concert,Contemporary,Romantic Period,Standards. 60 pages. Concustic #4111493. Published by Concustic (A0.984321). 4 for 4This set of 4 pieces is compiled so, that in one booklet different aspects of the ensemble playing can be optimally practiced. A quiet, slow piece, where you can work on the sound and the intonation of the ensemble (Bach).A work in which the accompanying voices and main melody must find a dynamic balance. In which, however, a common breathing phrasing is required (Brahms).Even more, the Gnossienne no 1 demands the same skills as Brahms. Whereby a common, swaying rhythmic pulsation is added. The Kleine Ouvertüre (Little Overture) demands more skill in the field of technique and to perform regularly flowing melodies, as well as to put the practice of the coherence of these contrapuntal melodies opposite. Small Ensemble Drum Set,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Vibraphone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.881262 Composed by Gary Powell Nash. Contemporary. Score and parts. 133 pages. Gary Powell Nash #6137361. Published by Gary Powell Nash (A0.881262). Brass Magnolia Suite (1999) for trumpet, horn, bass trombone and percussion was largely inspired by Gary Powell Nash’s residency in Mississippi, the Magnolia State from 1996-2003.  Being that Mississippi, particularly the northwest part of the state known to most as the Mississippi Delta, is very rich in musical traditions, Nash chose to use some of these same traditions as the basis and major premise for his composition.  For the most part, Brass Magnolia Suite is based on Mississippi Delta blues tunes and bird songs of those indigenous to the region.  Such birds include the mockingbird, wood thrush, common crackle and the meadowlark.  For Nash’s utilizations of these bird songs, as well as blues tunes, he took rhythms and melodic contours of each and manufactured melodies and motives of his own.         While Brass Magnolia Suite is not meant to be programmatic, the five movements, which are arranged in a traditional fast-slow-fast-slow-fast format, all depict either a particular experience for Nash or a natural occurrence in Mississippi.  The first movement, Fanfare, is based on the mockingbird’s song.  The second movement, Homage to the Armadillos, incorporates the song of the wood thrush.  The third movement, Catfishery, is supported by the tune Catfish Blues and the common grackle’s song.  The fourth movement, Song of the Meadowlark, is exactly what it suggests and the fifth movement, The Gospel, is based on the gospel blues tune John, the Revelator.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.535376 Composed by Gregory Sullivan Isaacs. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 11 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2803949. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.535376). Gather Us In is an excerpt from Undelivered, a cantata written about the speech that John F. Kennedy never gaev in Dallas in November, 1963. In this piece for chorus and piano, Suzanne Calvin adapted this text from the Oxford Book of Prayer originally by G.D. Matheson (1842-1906). The work is suitable for both religious services and concert performances. Gather us in, Thou love that fillest all;Gather our rival faiths within thy fold.Rend each man’s temple-veil and bid it fall,That we may know that Thou hast been of old;Gather us in.Gather us in: we worship only Thee;In varied names we stretch a common hand;In diverse forms a common soul we see;In many ships we seek one spirit-land;Gather us in.Each one sees one colour of thy rainbow-light,Each looks upon one tint and calls it heaven;Thou art the fullness of our partial sight; We are not perfect till we find the seven;Gather us in.

SATB choir unaccompanied - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.5131-E Composed by Gwyneth W. Walker. Instrument part. 23 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #5131-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.5131-E). English.Motherless Child is derived, in part, from the African-American spiritual Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child. The original song dates back to the era of slavery when it was common practice to sell children of slaves away from their parents. In this new adaptation, the theme of separation or alienation (away from home, apart from one's community is viewed as universal and eternal. Everyone at some time feels like a motherless child. But as one expresses these feelings, one realizes a common bond with humanity. And one is no longer alone. Thus a more hopeful refrain is woven into the lyrics of the spiritual:Hold on. Hold on, We are together. And we are one.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953727 Composed by William B. Bradbury and John B. Dykes. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14257. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953727). Holy God Medley is a medley of the Christian hymns: He Leadeth Me, O Blessed Thought and Holy, Holy, Holy arranged for 4-5 octave handbell choirs. It starts with a two measure introduction, followed by He Leadeth Me, O Blessed Thought. This is fairly up-tempo, with a surprise modulation going into the chorus. In the chorus, there are bass runs, a brief descant line, and doubling of the melody into the high bells. There are then two verses of Holy, Holy, Holy. The first verse is slow and is in ¾ time, instead of the normal common meter. It is also soft and *very* plain, as a setup for the last verse, which is faster, and grows in volume to the end, with much fuller chords, and uses the normal common meter that the original hymn uses. There is another surprise modulation halfway through this verse. Very full chords are used, with a brief bass clef downward arpeggio in the next to last measure, to emphasize the ending. The first verse of Holy, Holy, Holy can be performed with handchimes, if desired, although the arrangement is not scored as such. The audio demonstration clip provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how this arrangement is generally meant to sound. I believe that this is probably a 2+ (2 plus) arrangement in degree of difficulty.

Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596568 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 9 pages. Juan Maria Solare #4717703. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596568). Has the Rain a Father? This piece exists in two versions: Piano solo Guitar solo (without or with electronic sounds) The piano version has no huge secrets (to clarify: the pedal is used da capo al fine without interruption). The guitar version is written in three keys: E, G and A (Dorian). The performer may choose one or another score at their convenience. The guitar version can also use effects of all kinds, or amplifiers that are not always used in classical music. At the end of 2019 an album will be released on Spotify and other online music platforms with both versions of the piece (solo piano and acoustic guitar with electronic sounds). As an example of the amplitude that the composer expects from the performers: in this record production, the guitar signal is split in two parts, panned to the right and left, and different types of effects are applied to each channel (chorus, delay, reverb of different kinds and with different parameters). The original guitar signal is also in the center. Of course, there are also the electronic sounds themselves. A preliminary version can be heard here: https://juanmariasolare.bandcamp.com/album/has-the-rain-a-father Has the Rain a Father? is a quote from the bible, specifically from the book of Job 38:28. It is part of a series of rhetorical questions that tend to convince Job of his ignorance. Has the Rain a Father? was composed in Bremen (Germany) on March 17, 2019 (plus details to the piano part on March 27). Its duration is about 4:30. I asked some people about the wording of the title. Among the meaningful answers:   Which wording is better, Has the rain a Father? or Does the Rain have a father? (Bible, Job, 38:28). It will be used as the title of a music piece for piano. Has the Rain a Father? is slightly unusual, and thus is attention-grabbing, something you want in a title. It sounds more biblical, calling attention to the allusion. In ordinary speech the Does the . . . version is more common, but for a title you don’t necessarily want common. (Johnny Wilson, former Writer and Magazine Editor (1973-1999))
