Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Bass Clarinet,Bassoon,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1339643 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Conrad Ho. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical. 42 pages. Conrad Ho #925343. Published by Conrad Ho (A0.1339643). On the page it looked nothing. The beginning simple, almost comic. Just a pulse, bassoons and basset horns, like a rusty squeezebox. Then suddenly; high above it, an oboe, a single note, hanging there unwavering, till a clarinet took over and sweetened it into a phrase of such delight! This was no composition by a performing monkey! This was a music I’d never heard. Filled with such longing, such unfulfillable longing. It seemed to me that I was hearing the very voice of God.--- 'Amadeus' (1984)This is one of the most gorgeous woodwind ensemble composition written during in the Classical period, by W.A. Mozart. It is now a common knowledge that Mozart was not fond of flute as an instrument, therefore we see the instrumention in the original version was without flute. In this arrangement, the melodies and accompaniment are separated with all the main melodies played by soloists which corresponds to the original principal parts. Horn is also arranged into Alto Saxophones which is more common in a woodwind ensemble.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1284591 Composed by William Gardiner. Arranged by Mark R Lewis. Classical,Folk,Sacred,Traditional. Score. 8 pages. Mark R Lewis #875766. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1284591). The text for Take Up Thy Cross was written by the hymnwriter Charles W. Everest and has several tunes associated with it. The tune used here is variably referred to as Germany or Gardiner, after the most common arranger. The tune was actually composed by the famous German composer Beethoven but the most common arrangement of the tune was by William Gardiner in his volumes known as Sacred Melodies. The tune is also used by some schools for their alma mater song. The tune is also used for the hymn Where Cross the Crowded Ways of Life. This arrangement of the tune is for 3 to 5 octave handbell choir and utilizes handchimes extensively. It also starts with the singing bell technique. While the changes between bells and chimes are a little abrupt and there are steady eighth note patterns through much of the piece, it is not too difficult and is comfortably in the 3 difficulty range.Season: GeneralRange: 3-5 octaves.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987847 Composed by Robert M. Greenberg. 20th Century. Score and parts. 178 pages. Robert M. Greenberg #90283. Published by Robert M. Greenberg (A0.987847). Preferred Contact Information: RMonteverdi@comcast.net Performing Rights Organization: BMI Website: robertgreenbergmusic.com Facebook Band Page: facebook.com/RobertGreenbergMusic Duration: ca. 33 minutes Year of composition: 1995 Program Note: I. With Friends Like These II. Inner Voices III. Little Hands and Little Feet IV. Freund Barry V. Friendly Persuasion VI. All For One and One For All I've known the Alexander String Quartet since 1987. More than just colleagues, they have become my friends: I've traveled with them, performed with them, watched them rehearse, dined with them in their homes and they in mine; I know their children and they know my children. Throughout the time I've known the members of the quartet I have observed the relationship between them, that special bond shared by the members of any touring band, described by one pundit as being like a bad marriage with no sex. Such issues notwithstanding, this particular marriage works. A string quartet represents, perhaps, the ultimate musical compromise between individual incentive and the common good. In a string quartet, by definition, four distinct instrumental voices and four different instrumental roles unite to create a whole greater than its parts. And, lest we forget, behind each instrument is a person, with his own particular attitudes, feelings, needs, and, yes, issues, all of which must be tempered and blended for the common good of a good performance. Among Friends is, its liberties aside, about the four people behind the instruments of the Alexander String Quartet and their relationships with one another; the way they play, rehearse, get along and, on occasion, not get along. The first movement, With Friends Like These is gritty and contentious in tone. The players argue, debate, annoy, tease, irk, cajole, abuse, harass, form brief alliances, heap merde upon, gang up on, and otherwise find endless ways to irritate each other. It is in this movement that the individual characters of the four instrumental parts stand in highest relief: the first violin as coloratura prima donna, forever attempting to soar above it all; the second violin as the voice in the wilderness, the viola as the voice of reason and the 'cello as mover and shaker. The opening of the movement is marked argument in progress; with greatest intensity. The second, third and fourth movements are a series of portraits, played without a break. In movement two, Inner Voices, the second violin and viola are featured in a collegial and decidedly non-contentious dialogue. Movement three, Little Hands and Little Feet, is the quiet center of the quartet. It is here that the first violin finally attains the lyric heights vainly sought in the first movement. The fourth movement is a vigorous dance entitled Freund Barry. This movement honors three great friends: Dr. Barry Gardiner, whose friendship and support made the writing of this quartet possible; Gustav Mahler, whose Symphony No. 4, second movement (Freund Heine) inspired this one; and Sandy Wilson, who first encouraged me to compose my second string quartet (Child's Play) for the Alexander in 1987 and whose boisterous 'cello is Freund Barry's alter-ego. The fifth movement is entitled Friendly Persuasion. Rapid fire repeated notes, accompanimental figures and melodic lines are shuttled about from voice to voice, each time elaborated or altered in some way. In this way the music slowly metamorphoses, ultimately arriving at a version of the argumentative music that concluded the first movement. Movement six, All For One and One For All is a fast, brief coda/finale, during which the quartet plays primarily in unison, the musical antithesis of the contentious argument that began the quartet. Among Friends was commissioned by the Koussevitzky Foundation in the Library of Congress and the Alexander String Quartet. Among Friends i.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Bass Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1329418 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Traditional. 6 pages. Jmsgu3 #917401. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1329418). Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming is a Christmas carol with a rich history and deep theological significance. It is most commonly translated from the original German hymn Es ist ein Ros entsprungen. The hymn emphasizes the royal genealogy of Jesus and Christian messianic prophecies, describing a rose sprouting from the stem of the Tree of Jesse, symbolizing the descent of Jesus from Jesse of Bethlehem, the father of King David. The hymn has been set to music by various composers, with the familiar harmonization by Michael Praetorius dating back to the early 17th century. The English translation by Theodore Baker, Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming, was written in 1894 and has been widely used in English-language hymnals. The hymn's enduring appeal lies in its theological depth, musical beauty, and historical significance, making it a cherished part of the Christmas tradition for many.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719732 Composed by Various. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Sacred. Octavo. 11 pages. Curtis Hanson #4573009. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719732). As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal/choral tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The general concept of each medley is to present the hymn, often in its original chorale form, and then vary its harmony or texture. The hymns in this set include Holy, Holy, Holy, For All the Saints, and A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1108142 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 25 pages. Regis Bookshar #710765. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1108142). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Brass Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 2 Bb Trumpets, 2 French Horns and 1 Trombone, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases, and also to give them the chance to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (25 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a Brass Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.
