(Gerald Barry, 1998)This piece may be performed on any of the following instruments in different transpositions. If played by a string instrument, there should be no vibrato. It may be played by Flute, Alto Flute, Bass Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, Cor Anglais, Clarinet, Basset Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Contrabassoon, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Tuba, any other Brass Band instrument, Mouth Organ, Ondes Martenot, Concertina, Bagpipes, Tubular Bells, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass.In thinking of the register in which to play it, thought should be given to the drama and colour of the instrument involved. For example, if it were played by a Contrabassoon, the version in this edition should be transposed down two octaves and a minor 6th, so that the lowest note in the melody is B flat, the lowest note on the Contrabassoon.

C Instrument - Digital Download SKU: A0.1050068 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Thomas Gray. Celtic,Folk,Irish,Multicultural,World. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 1 pages. Thomas Edward Gray Music #654471. Published by Thomas Edward Gray Music (A0.1050068). 'Cooley’s' is a lively Irish reel that's great fun to play. It's well-known and loved and is played across the world in pubs, on stage and at Irish music sessions. It is a great reel for beginners and experts alike.History: The origins of this tune are greatly disputed, with various stories in circulation. ‘Cooley’s’ is often associated with Joe Cooley, a button accordion player from County Galway. One of the most popular explanations of the origins of this tune is from Joe’s brother, Séamus. According to him, the two brothers heard the tune in County Clare being played on a ‘battered old concertina’. Later that night, the two brothers recreated the tune tune as best they could, ‘staying up through the night working and worrying the remembered fragments until finally the reel took shape’. According to Séamus, Joe composed the first section, whilst he composed the second part himself.ISMN: 979-0-9022712-6-4Published by:Thomas Edward Gray MusicABN: 90 127 523 114E: tomedgray@outlook.comIf you have any comments or feel your copyright has been infringed, please contact us.
