Score and part. 23 pages. Jmsgu3 #3603419. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549896). Score: 12 pages, piano part: 6 pages, alto clarinet part: 4 pages. duration: ca. 5'. Register for free lifetime updates and revisions of this product at www.jamesguthrie.com This is the famous wedding march from Op. 61 composed in 1842 and commonly performed as a recessional march at the end of a wedding. The piece was originally composed for orchestra then arranged for organ and performed by Mendelssohn himself. Mendelssohn: Wedding March Mendelssohn’s Wedding March is so popular that it’s difficult to imagine a wedding without it. It seems like it’s been around for eternity. In any case, it was only 150 years or so ago that the Wedding March came about. It was performed in Potsdam for the first time in 1842, as a piece of Mendelssohn’s music for the Shakespeare play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It was first used for a wedding in 1858 Mendelssohn Background Felix Mendelssohn (1809 –1847) was, by all means, a German mastermind composer, musician and orchestra conductor of the Romantic period. Consequently, Mendelssohn composed in the usual forms of the time - symphonies, concertos, oratorios, piano music, and chamber music. To summarize, his most famous works include his music for A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Italian Symphony, the Scottish Symphony, The Hebrides Overture, his later Concerto for Violin & Orchestra, and his Octet for Strings. His most well-known piano pieces, by and large, are the Songs Without Words.  Artistic Standing  Musical tastes change from time to time. Moreover, just such a change occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This plus rampant antisemitism brought a corresponding amount of undue criticism. Fortunately, however, his artistic inventiveness has indeed been critically re-evaluated. As a result, Mendelssohn is once again among the most prevalent composers of the Romantic era. Early Family Life Mendelssohn was, in fact, born into a prominent Jewish family. His grandfather was, notably, the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn. Felix was, in fact, raised without religion. At the age of seven, he was all of a sudden baptized as a Reformed Christian. He was, moreover, a child musical prodigy. Nevertheless, his parents did not attempt to exploit his talent. Early Adulthood Mendelssohn was, in general, successful in Germany. He conducted, in particular, a revival of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, specifically with his presentation of the St Matthew Passion in 1829. Felix was truly in demand throughout Europe as a composer, conductor, and soloist. For example, he visited Britain ten times. There, he premiered, namely, many of his major works. His taste in music was. To be sure, inventive and well-crafted yet markedly conservative. This conservatism separated him by all means from more audacious musical colleagues like Liszt, Wagner, and Berlioz. Mendelssohn founded the Leipzig Conservatoire which, to clarify, became a defender of this conservative viewpoint. Mature Adulthood Schumann notably wrote that Mendelssohn was the Mozart of the nineteenth century, the most brilliant musician, the one who most clearly sees through the contradictions of the age and for the first time reconciles them. This observation points to a couple of features in particular that illustrate Mendelssohn's works and his artistic procedure. Musical Features In the first place, his musical style was fixed in his methodical mastery of the style of preceding masters. This being said, he certainly recognized and even developed early romanticism from the music of Beethoven and Weber. Secondly, it indicates that Mendelssohn sought to strengthen his inherited musical legacy rather than to exchange it with new forms and styles or replace it with exotic orchestration. C.

Trombone Quintet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1252416 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. 19th Century,Classical,March,Opera,Romantic Period. 14 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #846386. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1252416). This arrangement adapted for trombone quintet was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, that is, inspiring and significant to the already known choral symphony by Beethoven, indicated to be performed by young music students, who want to enter the symphonic music, moreover, it can also be used by professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change in key, so that it is comfortable for all instruments in the formation, thus maintaining the essence of the striking melody, as well as using it for ensemble practice among musicians of different traditions.Beethoven's Ninth Symphony Op. 125 incorporates part of the poem An die Freude (To Joy), a hymn written by Friedrich Schiller, with the text sung by soloists and a choir in its last movement. It was the first example of a major composer using the human voice as prominently as the instruments in a symphony, thus creating a far-reaching work that set the tone for the symphonic form that was to be adopted by Romantic composers. This is the last complete symphony composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. The choral symphony, better known as the Ninth Symphony or The Ninth, is one of the best known works in the Western repertoire, considered both an icon and predecessor of Romantic music, and one of Beethoven's great masterpieces, where it was first performed on May 7, 1824, the same year it was completed, at the Kärntnertortheater in Vienna, Austria. The conductor was Michael Umlauf, the theater's music director, and Beethoven - dissuaded from conducting by the advanced stage of his deafness - was given a special place on the stage next to the conductor. It was later rearranged by Herbert von Karajan to become the anthem of the European Union in 1972, the national anthem of Rhodesia from 1974 until 1979, Rise, O Voices of Rhodesia, used the tune Ode to Joy..

Large Ensemble Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.978431 Composed by Edward Elgar. Arranged by Sandstone Music. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 252 pages. Sandstone Music #6057715. Published by Sandstone Music (A0.978431). This newly edited version of Elgar's 'Sea Pictures' matches up our piano vocal score with a new conductor score and orchestra parts. Previous versions of this work by other publishers are traditionally littered with mistakes and wrong notes / instructions, which have been fixed in this edition, including the addition of rehearsal marks which correspond across the piano vocal and conductor scores and orchestra parts. Elgar's 1899 work is a song cycle consisting of five songs: Sea Slumber Song, In Haven (Capri), Sabbath Morning at Sea, Where Corals Lie and The Swimmer. It has become one of the most popular works for contraltos and mezzo-sopranos and is frequently a major study work at conservatoires and universities. In the piano vocal score (available elsewhere on this website), the piano part has been adjusted to more closely resemble the orchestral parts. Please note, this set features the keys which Sea Pictures are traditionally performed in, suitable for mezzo-soprano / contralto, as Elgar adjusted them for contralto Dame Clara Butt for the premiere. We also publish this score in his original higher keys for soprano elsewhere on this site.

Echos of Eíkosi, a dynamic and vibrant composition crafted for the Meitar Ensemble's 20th anniversary, is a testament to the fusion of traditional and contemporary musical elements. This piece, encapsulating both the essence of virtuosity and the avant-garde, is written for a sextet accompanied by intricate electronics. It is a relatively short composition, but it packs a substantial punch in its brief duration. The music of Echos of Eíkosi is characterized by its vigorous energy and its mercurial shifts in mood and dynamics, creating an auditory landscape that is as unpredictable as it is thrilling. These sudden changes demand not only technical proficiency from the musicians but also a deep emotional understanding of the piece's nuanced shifts. The electronics component adds an additional layer of complexity, blending with the acoustic instruments to create a rich tapestry of sound. The sextet, comprising highly skilled musicians, is guided by a conductor who plays a pivotal role in navigating the challenging score. The conductor's expertise is crucial in ensuring the seamless integration of the electronics with the live instruments, and in managing the quicksilver changes in tempo and intensity. The result is a performance that is both a showcase of the musicians' technical abilities and a deeply expressive interpretation of the composition's intricate emotional landscape. In summary, Echos of Eíkosi is not just a musical piece but an adventurous journey through a spectrum of sonic textures and emotions, making it a fitting tribute to the Meitar Ensemble's two decades of artistic exploration and achievement.
