His work includes compositions for piano, chamber music, symphonies and an opera. This edition is based on the Duos concertantes for violin and piano by J. Gregoir and Hubert Léonard (1819– 1890, violinist and Professor in Brussels) from the 1850s (see Hofmeister, Handbuch der musikalischen Literatur 1852–59). The edition for clarinet is by Joseph Blaes (1814–1892), clarinettist in Brussels. Three pieces have been selected: Chant de Mai (No. 2), Le Bal (No. 3), Sur l’eau (No. 5), all were published in 1858 (plate number 14614).

In about 1630, William Austin, a poet and lawyer in London, drew on this traditional belief to write one of his Carrols, for Christmas-day, in which he imagined what the most Stentorian animal of all, the rooster, might say about the new-born Holy Infant in Bethlehem. In setting William Austin’s carrol to music, James Siddons has given the organ the role of creating a soundscape to underpin the drama of Chanticleer’s proclamation. Following each of Austin’s three stanzas (in dramatic recitation by the Readers), an adaptation of the old French tune O Come, Emmanuel is played by handbells in a harmonic style that recalls the pealing of church bells on Christmas morning. This work is appropriate for the beginning of Advent and Christmas day worship, and in a service or program of Christmas music; for example, a service of lessons and carols. The purchase price includes permission to make 14 copies of the score (2 Readers, 8-10 handbell players, organist, and conductor) and permission to video-record a performance for posting on school or church websites and in streaming broadcast.

I keep updated on all things astronomical. Though I likely won't live to see it, I greatly look forward to mankind's inevitable exploration of deep space and other galaxies. An aphelion is defined as the point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid, or comet at which it is furthest from the sun. This phenomenon was the inspiration for this concert piece for two horns and string orchestra (or piano). The work begins starkly, with just the horns playing by themselves before a single string drone enters. This is the light of the sun a long ways away. The piece then takes us on a few adventures as it begins its revolution around the sun. The piece ends warmly as we arrive at perihelion (the point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid, or comet at which it is closest to the sun). Aphelion for two horns and string orchestra was commissioned by and is gratefully dedicated to the Chech American Horn Duo (Steven Gross and Jiri Havlik) and the Symphony of the Vines, Greg Magie, conductor, who premiered the piece in January of 2018.
